Our Best of the Gold Coast issue always makes me hungry. Every year, I sit down with the results and immediately start making a mental list of places I need to visit more often— and a few I’ve somehow never tried at all. That’s the fun of a reader-voted issue. These aren’t picks handed down by a panel of judges or driven by whatever is trending at the moment. They’re chosen by the people who live here, which means they reflect the places that have truly earned a spot in our lives.
But I’m especially excited about the Greenwich section that follows. Using the same categories—from restaurants and markets to florists, gyms, tutors, veterinarians and home stores—it zeroes in on the businesses local readers return to again and again. These are the names that pop up in group chats, school
pickup conversations and neighborhood recommendations long before they ever appear in a magazine.
This year, the issue also arrives as the country prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary. To mark the occasion, we’ve put together a guide to historic destinations and road trips that bring America’s story to life. Living in a part of the country so rich in history, it’s easy to forget how many remarkable sites are just a short drive away. Whether you’re discovering a new favorite, revisiting a longtime standby or planning a summer adventure, I hope these pages inspire you to get out and explore. See you around town.

“Coming back from class one day, I passed my roommate who said: ‘By the way, Jack, Albert Einstein called and wants you to call him back.’”
JULY/AUGUST 2026 / DONNA MOFFLY
The sailing season is upon us, and I can’t resist sharing a favorite family story.
As a Princeton undergraduate, Jack Moffly (Class of ’49) was Commodore of the Princeton Yacht Club, a fancy name for the sailing club that had an old broken-down tin shed and four dinghies on Lake Carnegie. At that time, Albert Einstein was teaching at the Institute for Advanced Study, separate from the University, and lived a short distance off campus.
Our daughter Audrey recorded her father telling us (complete with German accent) how the two met.
Said Jack: “It was rather unusual, because nobody saw much of him. In any event, coming back from class one day, I passed my roommate who said: ‘By the way, Jack, Albert Einstein called and wants you to call him back.’ I said, ‘Yah, yah, I know.’ His nickname was Joker, so I didn’t take him seriously.
“But later at the dorm he asked me: ‘What did Albert Einstein want?’ I said you gotta be kidding. Anyway, he convinced me it was actually Einstein’s hausfrau who’d called, and he had the number. So, I called, and sure enough, Dr. Einstein would like me to come for tea because he understood I knew all about sailing on Lake Carnegie.
“My roommate said, ‘Oh, my God, a chance to meet Einstein!’ He was an Engineer and tech-oriented, so I immediately appointed him Vice Commodore so he could join me.
“So, we knocked on the door and were warmly greeted by the fraulein. ‘Oh, you were so nice to come. Let me take you up to meet Dr. Einstein.’ And she led us up a long flight of stairs into the sunroom. Every surface of every table was covered with heaps of papers and books, and emerging from this cacophony of paper was this great gray mane. You’d know it anywhere.
“We were served tea, and Einstein said: ‘I had a terrible time finding you so I could sail on Lake Carnegie and hoped you could tell me how.’ I told him we’d certainly try.
“ ‘How do I get there?’ Well, I said there’s a bus, but they’re not very frequent. Or you could take a cab if you don’t drive.
“ ‘Well, I have sails, you see. What do I do about them?’ Well, we have an old tin shed, but I wouldn’t trust it. People might get in and steal the sails.
“ ‘I see. How about a boat. Can I launch a boat down there?’ Well, we keep our dinghies on shore and drag them down. ‘I guess I could drag one, too.’ We have a dock, I said, but frankly we’re afraid to use it. It’s a little wobbly. ‘Well,’ he said, ‘maybe I could launch it from there. But I have to get there. Maybe I take my bicycle?’
“Well, maybe not. You’ve got your sail bag in one hand and riding a bike, I don’t think so. ‘Maybe I could take a limousine?’ I thought he might think this was a yacht club and we’d have a limousine. I told him we didn’t.
“To make a long story short, he was most gracious but beginning to get the idea that these two clowns weren’t going to be helpful at all. (Chuckle)
“Finally, we parted company; but as we were leaving, he turned to me and said, ‘You know, I wanted to sail on Lake Carnegie, so I called the Crew House, then the Sports Department, then I called this person and that person, and finally I get YOU. It’s just like Chain Reaction!!!’
“I almost fell down the stairs.”
So there ends the story, except for Jack’s final comment after the videotape ended: “It was such a pleasure to talk to somebody with the same love of sailing that I have.”
May the wind be at your back this summer and always. G

FROM SECRET MALL APARTMENTS TO SWIMSUIT PIONEERS, GREENWICH NATIVE ROB LYONS GRAVITATES TOWARD DOCUMENTARIES ABOUT OUTSIDERS WITH EXTRAORDINARY STORIES.
When choosing documentary projects to produce, Rob Lyons gravitates toward offbeat subjects and unusual protagonists. The real-life characters whose stories he’s brought to the screen are a quirky bunch: a dyslexic Kentucky farmboy who helped unlock RNA, a band of artists who secretly lived inside a mall for four years and the photographer behind the iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
The Emmy-nominated Greenwich native’s subjects are diverse, but they share a common thread: quixotic ambition and stories Lyons believes deserved far more attention than they received.
“If there’s a thread that connects all of the films I’ve worked on, it’s that they are about people who inspire me,” says Lyons, executive director of Wheelhouse Creative, a Manhattan-based company specializing in film production, promotion and acclaimed movie trailers. “A lot of these people are very ordinary humans, but there’s also something that drove them to do pretty extraordinary things. And I suppose that’s why I wanted to be part of telling their stories.”
The list of noteworthy projects Lyons has been part of include 2024’s critically acclaimed Secret Mall Apartment, the stranger-than-fiction story of eight Rhode Island artists who secretly built and furnished an apartment inside the Providence Place Mall. Spoiler alert: The artists eventually get caught, but their four years of living undetected make for surprisingly suspenseful viewing.

“One of things that made this movie great is that the artists filmed themselves living there,” says Lyons. “That footage is why the film works because it’s something you kind of had to see to believe.”
Like many of his documentary subjects, Lyons has a knack for taking risks and pursuing unlikely paths.
Case in point: the Brunswick alum’s youthful decision to quit the parent-pleasing New York City banking job he landed after his Boston College graduation to work on film sets in Portland.
Turns out the pivot to the Pacific Northwest was the first of several strategic career moves for Lyons. Portland’s thriving film scene proved more welcoming to newcomers than Hollywood.
Lyons was bitten by the creative bug long before heading west. “I was a kid who was always writing or drawing something,” he says. At Brunswick, where he was active in theater productions, that creative instinct deepened.
“It was a really incredible place to be just in terms of the quality of productions we were able to turn out in a high school,” he says.
His parents, second-generation Irish Americans, encouraged more reliable career pursuits than the arts. “Banking was a good way to make a living, and film was a shitty one,” he says of their perspective. Ironically, one of Lyons’ banking clients was a film producer
who gave him insight into the business side of filmmaking.
In Portland, Lyons side-hustled as a ski instructor and never left home without his pager. “I was so hungry, I wouldn’t miss a chance to get the next job,” he explains. “In the beginning, I worked for $1 a day just to get on a set.” Small jobs turned into bigger ones. He eventually got camera and grip work and made those allimportant industry connections. That led to a long career at Sony Pictures, where he worked before launching Wheelhouse with creative director and business partner Jerry Workman.
Wheelhouse ventured into documentary production after the company was thriving. Its credits include promotional work on Academy Award-winning projects including Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Ed Harris’ Pollock and more.
“I say yes too much in a whole industry that is built on saying no,” Lyons says with a laugh of his move into the documentary genre. “If I have a problem, it’s that everything that interests me draws me in. And I’m interested, I want to explore.”
Not that Lyons abandoned his workaday projects. The producer lives with his wife, Kelly,

and teenage sons, Jay and Owen, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. “First and foremost, Wheelhouse is a marketing company and for many years our bread and butter has been doing film trailers” he says. “But our experience in the film business— spending all that time on other people’s movie sets—has given us a chance to be involved in some really exciting things.”
One recent project, Beyond the Gaze: Julie Campbell’s Swimsuit Issue, which made its PBS debut earlier this year, is a film Lyons says illustrates the real challenges of documentary producing today. “It’s such an interesting film about a really fascinating woman that hasn’t gotten some of the buzz it deserved,” he says.
Campbell, now in her 90s, was the photographer and driving force behind the first Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She is also an enterprising feminist who insisted her models be credited by name, spawning a generation of supermodel moguls with her groundbreaking shoots of Kathy Ireland, Elle Macpherson, Tyra Banks and more.
Lyons had real hope for Beyond the Gaze to enjoy a longer theatrical release than the one that materialized. “But it’s just the landscape we are working in right now,” he says.
Producing documentaries in the post-Covid era remains a difficult business. Art-house theaters continue to struggle, distribution models have shifted, and even acclaimed festival films often face an uphill battle finding audiences.
This all sounds discouraging, but Lyons says it’s actually made the business more interesting and called on him and the team to be nimbler and more creative when they find a project they really want to get behind. In the case of Secret Mall Apartment, Lyons notes, “We released the film ourselves before doing the Netflix deal. It showed us how to navigate a different pathway.”
“The shift is hard, but it’s also exciting,” he adds. “The next wave of what I want to do is start a small investment fund that can help get some of these projects, things that deserve to be made, going.”
And because everything interests him, there are more cinematic moments to come. “I’ve got a horror movie project I really want to do and it’s time to get that going.” He chats about the plot line not sounding the least bit scared. So stay tuned. G
Lyons recommends these documentaries, all Wheelhouse Creative projects, for their compelling takes on ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
Lyons describes director Jerry Workman’s 2024 film about eight Rhode Island artists who took over an abandoned section of the Providence Place mall and lived there, undetected, for four years as “a fun and hard-to-believe true story.” He notes the real heart of this story is the artists’ work with trauma survivors on creative projects across the country. “To me, this is film is about creating art for art’s sake as much as it is about that secret apartment,” says Lyons. It’s currently on Netflix.
“A lot of people don’t realize that the person who made supermodels out of people like Elle Macpherson, Kathy Ireland and Tyra Banks—the list goes on—was a really creative woman,” says Lyons. The photographer behind the iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Campbell is now in her 90s, and also directed this documentary, which explores the passion for female empowerment she brought to her work in a maledominated world. The doc made its PBS premiere in March, and is streaming on Apple TV, Google TV and Amazon Prime.

“i say yes too much in a whole industry that is built on saying no. if i have a problem, it’s that everything that interests me draws me in. and i’m interested, i want to explore.”
– rob lyons
Bill Hainy directed this 2025 documentary about Sharp, who won the Nobel Prize for cracking the RNA code. “He was dyslexic and grew up on a dirt-floor shack in Kentucky,” says Lyons. “Through sheer grit and determination, he changed science. But he was also the most remarkably humble guy. It was always about the work, never him. He is just an incredible inspiration.”

From morning Pilates to a red-eye flight, WILLOW’S POLISHED SELECTION is designed to go the distance.
by mary kate hogan
Athleisure and comfortable clothing have become everyday staples for many of us. But that doesn’t mean we can’t look stylish while wearing them. At Willow in Old Greenwich, owner Gina Frankle offers a selection of workout and travel clothes that are chic, eco-friendly and easy to wear—pieces that stand up to tough exercise regimens but don’t make you look like a clone of everyone in your yoga or Pilates class.
“The biggest thing that sets Willow apart is that most of the merchandise is made in the United States or Europe,” Gina says. “Many of the brands are also sustainable, and ethically sourced and made. I have tried to find brands that are not available anywhere else in town. When I think about buying anything, my No. 1 consideration is comfort and travel-ability.” Some of the brands she carries include Cream Yoga, Maison Wheat, LAMade and

HSS has joined forces with Stamford Health to deliver Connecticutʼs most advanced orthopedic care. With top specialists in spine and joint care, sports medicine, pediatric orthopedics, and more, experience orthopedic excellence like nowhere else.

Spiritual Gangster, among others.
With a degree in fashion merchandising, Gina developed an eye for women’s attire while working in retail management, production and design within the industry. Most recently, the local mom had worked at Lily Shoes and Accessories, a favorite shop owned by a close friend. When the friend decided to close after 10 years in business, Gina saw the opportunity to launch her own boutique. “An offhand discussion about possible new business ideas for the space sparked the idea of Willow,” Gina says. “Next thing I knew, I was at a trade show in New York City, negotiating the lease, coming up with the name…and here we are!”
The new shop has been well received by the community, and Gina says she enjoys being surrounded by other women-owned businesses in the village. She plans to host trunk shows and other events in the coming months. In the meantime, she says, her aim for Willow is to “become the kind of place that is not just a store, but a welcoming place where people can slow down, feel good and find pieces they love.” G

A colorful new destination mixes contemporary works, statement murals and stylish home décor
Abreath of visual fresh air has arrived in downtown Greenwich. Bringing a bilevel gallery with New York City vibes to town, Suzanne Bellehumeur has created a colorful space with evolving art collections and specialty items for the home. A decorative artist and muralist with 30 years of experience, whose work includes projects for David Yurman’s Manhattan storefront, Macy’s on 34th Street and many projects for designers and architects, Suzanne turned her own talent toward transforming the shop into an immersive boutique experience.
“The main floor has glorious 11-foot ceilings that allowed me to paint a variety of chinoiserie and abstract murals,” she says. “Wall murals blend seamlessly with the art hung on them as well as the carefully curated decorative home objects. No other home décor gallery space looks or feels like this. The lower gallery is the unexpected surprise…(like) a secret destination. Everyone has the same response when they reach the bottom of the stairs: ‘Oh wow!” It’s truly unique.’” The gallery showcases a range of works, from pop art and luminous landscapes to photography and more.
As art enthusiasts browse the collections, they can also pick up decorative items. Suzanne is especially partial to Designers Guild pillows and throws, and accessories from Arteriors, which she carries. “I’ve always loved how new art, pillows and throws can quickly transform a room,” she says. “You can have a neutral palette in your home, but these elements can easily be switched out and change the trajectory of the space immediately.”

In addition to hosting numerous events in the gallery space and planning upcoming exhibitions, Suzanne is also introducing a commissioned-art division geared toward local homeowners and designers. “So many homeowners and designers have large walls to address that need art,” she explains. “I provide a collaborative service designing a custom painting based on the client’s likes, the overall design aesthetic of the room and my personal suggestions. It’s a seamless process of brainstorming, renderings and a digital version of what the painting can look like on the wall prior to committing to it.”

TEN EMERGING TRENDS REVEAL WHY THE EXECUTIVES WHO WIN NEXT WON’T BE THOSE GUESSING THE FUTURE , BUT THE ONES GETTING READY FOR IT NOW
by marian salzman
Executives love to believe they have more control over the future than they actually do. It’s a charming delusion, right up there with thinking you can outsmart Metro-North traffic on a Friday afternoon. The truth is simpler: The future arrives whether we RSVP or not. And as we march toward 2030, the leaders who thrive won’t be the ones who predict perfectly. They’ll be the ones who prepare intelligently and treat change not as a threat but as an invitation. Here are the 10 forces every executive should be thinking about and planning for, before the future finishes its sprint and lands on your doorstep.
No.1
WORK BECOMES A SUBSCRIPTION, NOT A CONTRACT.
No.2
AI IS YOUR SMARTEST, STRANGEST COLLEAGUE.
PRESTIGE IS PUSHED OFF ITS PEDESTAL.
No.4
GLOBAL TEAMS MEET GLOBAL EXPECTATIONS.
No.5
HEALTH SECURITY GOES MAINSTREAM.
Employees used to stay in jobs because the stability felt safe. Today, they stay because meaning feels necessary. By 2030, work will function more like a subscription service than a lifetime membership. As a result, leadership must earn renewal— month to month— through flexibility, trust and clarity of purpose. Business philosophy might be less “command and control” and more “serve and sustain.”
Executives who treat AI like a threat will be replaced by those who treat it as an amplifier. The winners in 2030 won’t just use AI; they’ll partner with it. Think of it as a hyper-competent intern who never sleeps, sometimes dazzles and occasionally hallucinates. Fluency, not fear, is the requirement.
If the answer is yes, the team at Sovereign Gallery offers these tips for anyone considering body ink.
• Have a Plan
The gallery team offers consultations, which Valerio recommends to anyone considering tattoos.
No.6
• Get a Quote
CLIMATE RISK REWRITES THE RULEBOOK.
Tattoo work can be nuanced and complex. Some small designs can be more intricate than larger ones, so understand that tattoo art is often billed based on the hours it takes to complete a design rather than its overall dimensions.
• Cultivate Your Style
Supply chains will wobble, weather will misbehave and insurance premiums will climb. As a result, environmental responsibility will shift from a PR bullet point to a business imperative. Regulators, consumers and investors will want verification, not slogans.
Much like painters, tattoo artists often have distinct approaches to their inkwork, each yielding different aesthetic results. Consider whether you want something delicate, bold, black and gray or colorful. “Do your research, and know what you like,” says Valerio.
• Start Small
For anyone squeamish or worried about a tattoo’s permanence, some diminutive starter art is the way to go. Avoid a first tattoo on frequently exposed areas such
For decades, certain zip codes, job titles and alma maters served as shorthand for success. The value of those things is eroding fast.
as the neck, hands, wrist, arms, shins and ankles.
• Prepare for the Ouch
The next generation— your employees, your customers and often your children—care far less about legacy status and far more about credibility, integrity and impact. Authenticity becomes the new luxury good.
“I tell people if they tell themselves, 'It’s going to hurt a little bit but I’ve got this,' they’ll do well," says Valerio. “We work really hard here to make the experience as comfortable as possible, and I think most people find it tolerable. We play good music, have good conversation. We have had people laying on the table for hours without a complaint.”
No.7 POLITICS BECOME IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE.
• Avoid Mixing Ink and Romance
Executives used to avoid politics. That era is over. The line between business and public life has dissolved, and leaders must navigate polarization with grace and precision.
No.8
THE WORK CULTURE IS HUNGRY FOR PURPOSE.
Case in point: The gallery client who got a tattoo of her boyfriend’s name a scant month before their unexpected breakup.
We’ve already arrived at a moment of spiritual and emotional exhaustion.
“I see tattooing the name of a significant other on your body as a kiss of death,” says Valerio. “You can get rid of tattoos, but the process isn’t easy.”
• Check Spelling and Facts
Valerios’s first tattoo contained a typo. The word “fulfill” was erroneously spelled “fullfill.”
So he stresses the importance of the not-so-small details.
“I know people who have gotten important dates and people’s names wrong.”
A few years from now, people will want to work for—and buy from— organizations that stand for something real. The future demands quiet integrity from employers that make decisions with care, show leadership rooted in empathy and embrace values that last longer than a news cycle.
Hybrid teams have permanently redrawn the office map. Your marketing head may be in Sao Paulo; your data lead might be in Singapore; your rising star could be in Stamford. By 2030, the most effective executives will master digital diplomacy, reading tone through screens, aligning cultures in real time and building trust across borders.
Wellness is no longer a perk; it’s a prerequisite. We’re navigating a world shaped by pandemics, climate risks and rising anxiety. More than ever, employees will expect transparency, support and systems that protect their physical and mental well-being.
No.9 THE ATTENTION ECONOMY CONTINUES TO SHRINK.
Eight seconds. That’s the average human attention span today. By 2030, that may shrink more. Leaders who communicate with clarity, brevity and humanity will win hearts and minds.
TIME BECOMES THE ULTIMATE LUXURY.
Money matters, but time— unstructured, meaningful time—will be the true status symbol of 2030. For that reason, leaders must prioritize, delegate, automate and simplify.
Marian Salzman is a Connecticut-based business executive and global trendspotter who helps companies anticipate culture, consumer and business shifts.

WITH GLP-1 MEDICATIONS ACCELERATING RESULTS, EXPERTS ARE DEVELOPING STRATEGIES TO ENSURE PATIENTS ALSO MAINTAIN MUSCLE, HAIR, AND FACIAL VOLUME THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS.
Merry Thornton has seen it so many times it has become almost ritual. A woman walks into Element Medical Aesthetics in New Canaan—often after significant weight loss on a GLP-1 medication—and pulls the skin along her jawline upward, showing how her face used to look. The familiar words follow: hollow, sunken, gaunt.
Before they begin talking, I can often tell they’ve experienced rapid weight loss,” she says. “Their face will have a hollowness in the temples, cheeks, and nasolabial folds and a loose, inelastic appearance at the jawline.”
Since Thornton founded Element, she has watched this particular kind of dissonance become one of the defining patient experiences of the GLP-1 era. By most clinical measures, the medications are genuinely effective tools for weight loss. But they are tools. They suppress appetite. They do not protect the face, the hair, or the muscle. That part requires a separate strategy—and according to the specialists treating this wave of patients across Fairfield County, most people are realizing it far too late.
“Ozempic face,” as it has come to be known, is not a single change but a series of converging losses. The facial fat pads that give cheeks fullness and jaws definition shrink as overall fat declines. Collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for the skin’s firmness and elasticity, do not regenerate on the same

timeline, particularly in patients over 35. Bone density decreases. Muscle diminishes. “The skin looks thinner, dehydrated, and crepey,” says Thornton.
The hollowing of the temples, the deepening folds around the mouth—these are the visible results of a face that has lost its underlying support. And because GLP-1 medications tend to produce faster weight loss than diet and exercise alone, the skin has less time to adapt.
The standard clinical advice is to wait until a patient reaches their goal weight before addressing any of these changes. Thornton disagrees: "It is always easier to prevent laxity and volume loss that has not yet occurred than to correct these issues.” At Element, she recommends beginning collagen-stimulating treatments early in the weight loss journey.
Sofwave, which uses ultrasound energy to heat the mid-dermis and trigger new collagen production, is most effective when started before significant loss occurs. Sculptra, a biostimulator injected into the face, gradually rebuilds structural support while restoring volume, helping address the deflation many patients experience along the jawline. For the deeper issue of fat loss itself, Thornton often turns to Renuva—an injectable designed to stimulate the body to regenerate its own fat cells over the course of three to six months. It works best, she explains, in areas where facial fat naturally exists: the cheeks, temples, etc.
A combination approach is typically required, with follow-ups every two to three months to assess changes and adjust treatment as needed. "You don't have to choose between your body and your face," Thornton says. "You can have your healthiest body and the best version of your face simultaneously."
Hair loss is the other concern she hears about regularly, and the one most likely to send patients into a panic. The shedding typically begins two to four months into significant weight loss and is a stress response. The GLP-1 drug itself is unlikely to be the direct cause; caloric restriction and nutritional deficiencies are the more probable drivers. The

“you don , t have to choose between your body and your face. ” —merry thornton
reassurance, however, is clear: it is almost always temporary. Once weight loss stabilizes and nutrition improves, shedding typically resolves within three to six months.
In the meantime, Thornton recommends a mix of at-home care, including nutraceuticals, laser devices and topical growth serums, along with in-office regenerative treatments such as PRP and Keralase. But she emphasizes that maintenance drives results.
The nutritional piece extends well beyond hair. Barbara Schmidt (a New Canaan-based MS, RDN,
pounds on a GLP-1 can sound like an unambiguous success, but if 15 of those pounds came from muscle rather than fat, the metabolic picture becomes far more complicated than the scale suggests. Muscle is the primary site of glucose metabolism; losing it can increase insulin resistance (a precursor to type 2 diabetes) and slow resting metabolism setting the stage for rapid weight regain once medication stops.
His prescription is progressive resistance training: a structured program designed to get incrementally stronger over time, with enough frequency and volume to give the body a reason to preserve muscle. Adequate protein is equally non-negotiable, according to both Schmidt and Charise.
Charise points to the work of Dr. Donald Layman, a protein metabolism researcher whose findings suggest that a minimum threshold of 2.5 to 3 grams of leucine—an amino acid found most reliably in animal proteins and quality protein supplements— is required to meaningfully stimulate muscle protein synthesis. In practical terms, that translates to roughly 25 to 30 grams of protein per meal. The protein-labeled chips, muffins and granola bars now crowding grocery store shelves, he notes, rarely come close.
CDN) works with GLP-1 patients whose appetite suppression is powerful enough to crowd out the nutrients their bodies still need. Her focus is on pace. “One to two pounds a week is really the goal, even on these GLP-1s,” she says. Faster than that, and the body starts making trade-offs—muscle being among the first sacrifices. Which brings the conversation to muscle. Chris Charise, a personal trainer who runs 203 Fitness, makes a point he finds himself repeating constantly: Not all weight loss is created equal. Losing 30
He also raises a structural concern. GLP-1 medications, unlike bariatric surgery, typically come without built-in guidance on exercise or nutrition. Bariatric patients are supported by multidisciplinary teams and followed closely over time. GLP-1 patients, in many cases, receive a prescription and little else. "There is no real further conversation about resistance training or the need to increase your protein," Charise says. That gap is where patients are most vulnerable— not to the medication, but to the absence of support around it. The drugs work. That, at this point, is well established. What is less established—and what the specialists most want people to understand—is that the sustainable results require building something alongside the medication. The face, the hair, the muscle: none of it maintains itself. But all of it can be supported.

Need help preparing your pre-vacation checklist? OK. Sunscreen? Check. Passports? Check. Travel insurance? Check.
What about your estateplanning documents?
These might be the most important of all, suggests Christine Tenore of Wilton, an
attorney and partner at Eliovson & Tenore in Fairfield. “Estate planning is not just about when somebody dies,” Tenore says. “It’s also life planning.”
Vacations can heighten that need. Hiking and zip lining, boogie-boarding and birdwatching, traipsing through ruins, even tipsy afternoons by the pool or schlepping gear (and kids) up and down unfamiliar stairs can lead to debilitating accidents with lifelong consequences, both physical and financial, Tenore says.
She tells of one Fairfield County husband who tumbled down stairs, resulting in a brain bleed and permanent disability. “The bulk of the couple’s money was in retirement accounts, and the wife was trying to withdraw money for his care. But (without estate planning documents in place) a spouse has no say over
retirement accounts so she had no access to that money.”
Tenore cites another couple’s vacation in Africa, which screeched to a halt when the wife fractured her hip and the husband remained with her to navigate her recovery. “They had financial matters here that couldn’t be handled from Africa.”
Wills and trusts dominate many estate-planning conversations among older, highnet-worth families here in lower Fairfield County. Millennials — too young to be preoccupied with who gets what upon death, too busy raising kids or paying off loans — tend to exclude estate issues when it comes to their financial planning.
“But there’s more than just having a will or trust,” Tenore says. “The younger generation doesn’t recognize that power-ofattorney and healthcare directives
are key to planning for the unexpected.” These documents can be critical, especially, for nontraditional families, children of divorced parents and unmarried couples who live together.
If you, your spouse or your partner, if your parents or your adult kids were to suffer a catastrophic accident, who would make the medical decisions? Who would manage the finances or care for dependents? Contrary to popular belief, a family member can’t simply step in and make decisions for their incapacitated loved one. You need durable powers of attorney and a health care directive, legal documents that say you’ve granted the person named the authority to make your decisions for you.
“Make sure you have those documents,” Tenore says, “then put them in the drawer, and hope you never need them.” G
According to the 2026 Estate Planning Report by DIY estate planning company Trust & Will, 58 percent of millennials and 62 percent of Gen Xers don’t know what will happen to their assets if they die. The answer, in short: If you don’t spell out who gets what — and fill out the right names on the right forms — the court will decide for you. For example: In Connecticut, if a house is in one spouse’s name and the owner dies without a will, the owner’s spouse gets $100,000 plus half of the remaining estate, and the kids split the other half.
And when the owner of a retirement account dies, a will cannot dictate what happens to the account’s assets. That’s the job of the named beneficiaries. With no beneficiary explicitly named, the funds go to the deceased’s estate and are sorted out in probate court. Same goes for life insurance policies, investment accounts and bank accounts. A marriage, divorce, birth, injury or death all have significant consequences on long-term financial health. Make sure your documents are in order and revisit them regularly, Tenore says, and start now, when you are able.

Ali and Matt are a modern couple who met in a very modern way: on Hinge. Their first date was for drinks at Holywater in Tribeca, where Ali was living at the time, while Matt called the West Village home. It was one of those effortlessly fun evenings where conversation flowed easily. They quickly discovered how much they had in common. They were the same age, both Jewish, shared mutual friends from Duke and Lehigh, and, most importantly, held the same core values.
After a year of dating, Matt planned a surprise proposal during a staycation in New York City. On the way to dinner, he suggested they stop by The Wall Street Hotel to drop off their bags. As soon as they entered the lobby, Ali sensed something was different. Staff members took her coat, handed Matt a key and escorted them to a beautifully decorated suite filled with flowers. Before she could fully take it all in, Matt got down on one knee and proposed. The celebration continued as family and friends joined them for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before heading downstairs for dinner.
Rabbi David Spey officiated at the ceremony at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida, where a reception followed.
The bride, daughter of Dr. Jed and Terri Kaminetsky, graduated from Hackley School and Lehigh University. She is the founder and CEO of Modern Picnic, a luxury lunchbox brand.
The groom, son of Brian and Joan Ochs of Maryland, graduated from Winston Churchill High School and Duke University. He works for Coller Capital in Manhattan.
Following their wedding, the newlyweds honeymooned in Capri, Ravello and along the Amalfi Coast. They call Manhattan home. G

Parked at marinas in Stratford and Norwalk, Copps Island Oyster Shack has earned a devoted following for its lobster rolls, ultra-fresh oysters and raw bar classics. The family-run favorite lives by its “boat to table” philosophy—growing, shucking and serving its own oysters with the kind of dock-to-tray freshness that tastes unmistakably like summer on the Connecticut coast. In Norwalk, live music and sunset views add to the scene; in Stratford, the quieter marina setting feels like a hidden gem locals almost want to keep to themselves.
“Where should we eat?” may be the most commonly repeated phrase in Fairfield County—and lately, the answers just keep getting better. The challenge isn’t finding somewhere good; it’s narrowing down the options. From new additions and old-school institutions to neighborhood gems locals almost hesitate to share, this year’s winners reflect how we really eat now: spritzes on sunny patios, impeccable Italian meals served with a side of trivia, Chinese takeout on regular rotation and lobster rolls worth going out of your way for. These are the spots people return to again and again—the standing reservations, the comfort orders and the places locals insist you absolutely have to try.

Which Greenwich restaurateur is known for remembering your name, checking on every table and casually quizzing diners between bites of steak and pasta? The answer, of course, is longtime maître d’ Tony Capasso. After decades in the restaurant business—and since opening Tony’s at the J House in 2019—Capasso has brought his signature warmth and throwback hospitality to the dining room, making guests feel like regulars from the moment they sit down. The expertly cooked steaks, classic Italian favorites and strong martinis certainly help—but it’s Tony himself, working the room with his trademark charm and rapid-fire trivia questions, who keeps people coming back.

At Roots Ocean Prime, dinner comes with a little old-school swagger. Servers in white jackets glide through the dining room, martinis arrive ice-cold with backup frozen glasses waiting in the wings, and the steaks are exactly what you want them to be: perfectly cooked and worthy of the hype surrounding Darien’s buzzy newcomer. Then there’s the giant sundae: a towering, slightly over-the-top finale that practically guarantees at least one neighboring table will ask, “Wait…what is that?”
“My love of froyo existed long before the current buzz, and 16 Handles gets that. No trend-chasing, no fuss. For me, just the original tart with a swirl of mint chip, a handful of strawberries and carob chips, always. Conveniently located in downtown Fairfield. Easy parking, the vibe is good, and it’s the spot where everyone walks out the door looking genuinely happy. The 16 Handles froyo joy is real.”
Samantha Yanks, Editor, Westport, Weston & Wilton

CHOPT cracked the code on the workday lunch: customizable bowls that feel virtuous without being boring. Fresh ingredients, bold dressings and plenty of protein options keep regulars coming back.

A trip to Terrain in Westport is always a good idea. You may come for the endless home and garden inspiration, but the café has become just as much of a destination— especially on a leisurely weekend when the only real agenda is brunch, browsing and possibly leaving with a new plant you definitely didn’t plan on buying. Located within the dreamy lifestyle store, the restaurant serves beautifully plated seasonal dishes in a setting that feels equal parts greenhouse, garden party and welcome escape from real life.

Once the weather warms up, a table on the patio at Artisan becomes highly coveted real estate. Tucked into the charming courtyard at the Delamar Southport, it’s the kind of place to slow down and stay a while— lingering over coastal-inspired dishes, indulging in crisp glasses of wine and cocktails that taste even better outdoors. On summer evenings, with string lights overhead and another round on the way, it’s easy to forget you’re only a few minutes from home.

For decades, family-run Marcia Selden Catering has been behind some of the area’s most memorable weddings, galas and backyard celebrations, pulling off events that somehow feel both polished and deeply personal. Guests may remember the beautiful tables or impeccable service, but what really sets the Selden team apart is their ability to make events feel warm, lively and genuinely fun.

A quick stop at the Westport Farmers’ Market rarely stays quick. One minute, you’re picking up tomatoes, the next you’re leaving with just-baked bread, fresh flowers, local honey and ambitious plans to cook something seasonal. Beloved for its mix of regional farms, artisanal vendors and strong sense of community, the market has become as much a weekend ritual as a place to shop. On any given Thursday, you’ll find chefs, families and devoted regulars weaving through the stalls with coffee in hand, catching up with vendors they’ve known for years.

Mecha Noodle Bar’s playful, flavor-packed mocktails are every bit as thoughtful as the cocktails—bright, layered drinks that arrive looking just as good as everything else on the table. Whether paired with steaming bowls of ramen, bao buns or late-night snacks with friends, they’ve become a go-to order for anyone wanting something festive without the hangover.
Bright flavors, eye-catching presentations and a little sense of fun have made Mecha’s beverage program a local favorite.
Sure, you can click "Add to Cart." But there's still something satisfying about wandering into a shop and finding exactly what you didn't know you were looking for. Whether it's a special-occasion dress, a statement necklace, a custom sofa or the perfect finishing touch for a room, this year's winners remind us that shopping is as much about discovery as it is about the purchase. These are the boutiques, jewelers and home stores readers swear by—and return to often.

There are closets, and then there are California Closets. The brand’s custom-designed systems have become the go-to for turning everything from overstuffed wardrobes to chaotic pantries and built-in spaces into something that feels intentional, streamlined—and almost too good to hide behind closed doors.

Call it the support system of daily life. The places you book without thinking, the pros you recommend without hesitation, the services that quietly keep everything together. From fitness and beauty to family logistics and everyday care, these are this year’s reader favorites.

A great portrait doesn’t just capture how someone looks—it captures how they feel.
Katharine Calderwood has built a reputation for doing exactly that, creating images that are intimate, honest and cinematic, whether she’s photographing families, creatives or public figures.

To create our Top Dentists directory, we utilized the experts at topDentists™, which has more than seventy years in combined experience compiling peer-review referral guides in the legal, dental and medical fields. The research company, which started topDentists in 2007, uses a thorough selection process to recognize dentists who are chosen by other dental professionals.
This list is excerpted from the 2026 topDentists™ list, a database that includes listings of more than 210 dentists and specialists in the Fairfield County area. The list is based on thousands of detailed evaluations of dental professionals by their peers. The complete database is available at usatopdentists.com. For more information, call 706-364-0853; write P.O. Box 970, Augusta, GA 30903 or visit usatopdentists.com.
“If you had a patient in need of a dentist, which dentist would you refer them to?”
This is the question we’ve asked thousands of dentists to help us determine who the topDentists should be. Dentists and specialists are asked to take into consideration years of experience, continuing education, manner with patients, use of new techniques and technologies and of course physical results.
The nomination pool of dentists consists of all dentists listed online with the American Dental Association as well as dentists listed online with their local dental societies, thus allowing virtually every dentist the opportunity to participate. Dentists are also given the opportunity to nominate other dentists that they feel should be included in our list. Respondents are asked to put aside any personal bias or political motivations and to use only their knowledge of their peer’s work when evaluating the other nominees.
Voters are asked to individually evaluate the practitioners on their ballot whose work they are familiar with. Once the balloting is completed, the scores are compiled and then averaged. The numerical average required for inclusion varies depending on the average for all the nominees within the specialty and the geographic area. Borderline cases are given a careful consideration by the editors. Voting characteristics and comments are taken into consideration while making decisions. Past awards a dentist has received and status in various dental academies can play a factor in our decision.
Once the decisions have been finalized, the included dentists are checked against state dental boards for disciplinary actions to make sure they have an active license and are in good standing with the board. Then letters of congratulations are sent to all the listed dentists.
Of course, there are many fine dentists who are not included in this representative list. It is intended as a sampling of the great body of talent in the field of dentistry in the United States. A dentist’s inclusion on our list is based on the subjective judgments of his or her fellow dentists. While it is true that the lists may at times disproportionately reward visibility or popularity, we remain confident that our polling methodology largely corrects for any biases and that these lists continue to represent the most reliable, accurate, and useful list of dentists available anywhere

Linhart Dentistry, with over 45 years of expertise in Midtown Manhattan, expanded into Greenwich in 2021 and has now added a new location in Fairfield!
“We are old-world service and charm in a modern, state-of-the-art environment”, says Dr. Jan Linhart and Dr. Zachary Linhart, “our history is deeply rooted in New York City, but our story began in Europe, and our patients are from all over the world. We always knew Greenwich would be the next point of expansion, and we are excited to have established our new office in Cos Cob, right in the middle of town.”
In 1979, Dr. Jan Linhart opened the doors to Linhart Dentistry in NYC’s iconic Helmsley Building, steps from Grand Central Terminal. There, Dr. Linhart built a most impressive, full-service dental practice, from full-mouth cosmetic cases to comprehensive general care. NY Magazine referred to the practice as “One-Stop Dental Perfection!”

In 2010, Dr. Zachary Linhart joined the practice after following in his father’s footsteps of attending Bowdoin College and NYU College of Dentistry. He added his expertise in implantology, and echoing his father, an eye for cosmetic dentistry. Their NYC staff of over 25 consists of top in- house specialists including a Periodontist (gum and implant specialist), Endodontist (Root Canal Specialist), Orthodontist (braces and Invisalign

When Dr. Zachary Linhart moved to Greenwich in 2016 with his young family, he was returning to the area, having grown up in nearby Purchase, NY and graduating from RCDS. At this point, the plan to extend their NYC practice was set in

“Our added location in this beautiful, suburban environment has provided more, and easier opportunities to keep up with regular dental care. We are so pleased to be offering our services in Greenwich and now Fairfield, and look forward to welcoming the community to our new offices!”
We are proud to offer our NYC style of dentistry in three beautiful locations, all working together as a single team to provide the highest level of dentistry anywhere.

For over 40 years, Greenwich Dental Studio’s office has been a trusted part of the Greenwich community, built on a philosophy that great dentistry starts with relationships. What began as a practice rooted in personal care and long-term trust has evolved into a modern dental studio focused on combining advanced clinical excellence with a highly personalized patient experience. Today, under the leadership of Dr. Angela Marwaha and Dr. Masis Yeterian Jr., who are both local Greenwich residents, the practice continues to honor the culture and legacy that generations of families have come to know while bringing a refreshed vision and elevated standard of care into a new era of dentistry.
Located in the heart of Cos Cob, the practice has remained committed to the same core principles that built its reputation decades ago: honesty, attention to detail,
and putting patients first. Patients are never rushed or treated like numbers. Instead, Greenwich Dental Studio focuses on creating an experience that feels approachable, comfortable, and deeply relationshipdriven. That philosophy continues to attract generations of families who value consistency, familiarity, and a team that genuinely cares.
While the culture of the practice remains timeless, the dentistry itself continues to evolve. Dr. Marwaha and Dr. Yeterian bring a thoughtful, modern approach to patient care, blending advanced technology with a strong belief that dentistry is both clinical and artistic. From digital scanners to cosmetic smile design, implant crowns, TMJ treatment, and full restorative care, the practice emphasizes precision, efficiency, and longterm outcomes without losing the warmth and personal connection patients expect.
Dr. Yeterian, a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), is known for his calm, patient-first approach and commitment to minimally invasive, modern dentistry, while Dr. Marwaha, a Fellow of both the International College of Dentists (ICD) and Pierre Fauchard Academy (PFA), brings an artistic eye and extensive advanced training that helps patients feel both comfortable and confident in their care. Together, they have helped transition Greenwich Dental Studio into a practice that reflects the future of dentistry while preserving the integrity and trust that built its foundation.
Today, Greenwich Dental Studio stands as a reflection of both legacy and progress — a practice where longstanding relationships meet modern innovation, and where patients of all ages can experience dentistry designed around trust, comfort, and lasting results.

Greenwich Braces is a state of the art orthodontic office for both children and adults founded in 1998. It is our mission to treat each patient as our family member, while providing the highest quality of orthodontic care in a friendly and welcoming environment. Our doctors and orthodontic team go to extreme lengths to make our patients feel comfortable.
A major reason for Greenwich Braces’ success is our highly skilled team of doctors and their collaborative approach to treatment. The team of orthodontists, led by Dr. Tiffany Christensen, work together on each case, utilizing their knowledge, extensive training and experience to formulate an orthodontic plan custom to you and your needs. Together Dr. Christensen, Dr. Rosemary Ryan and Dr. Amanda Iorio aim to give you a smile that is both beautiful and functional. Twenty-eight years after being founded by Dr. Rosemary Ryan, we have treated over 6,000 orthodontic patients with braces, Invisalign and a variety of other treatment modalities. This type of dental longevity and compassion makes Greenwich Braces sought out by many even beyond the local area. Some of our patients have even commuted from as far as London, Qatar, Atlanta, Chicago, New York, and New Jersey to be treated in our office.
Greenwich Braces is also equipped with top-notch in-office technology for patients including: lower radiation digital x-rays, digital photographic images, and the latest iTero™ intraoral scanner- which enables us to take 3D digital scans of the patient’s bite and teeth, eliminating the need for messy impressions. These tools not only help to provide precision and accuracy, but they also enhance our patients’ satisfaction in the orthodontic experience.
Additionally, keeping compassion in mind with everything we do, we are also committed to giving back to our community, both

locally and beyond. Each month, Greenwich Braces donates a portion of our profits to local charities. In addition, we always take on several pro-bono orthodontic cases. At Greenwich Braces, we feel it is important to recognize a need for compassion beyond braces for our patients and our community.

TRAYNOR PERIODONTICS & IMPLANTS 15 Valley Drive, Suite 302 | Greenwich, CT | 203.661.5885 | tpigreenwich.com
For 27 years, I have had the privilege of caring for patients in Greenwich and building a practice centered on excellence, precision, and trust. As a periodontist and implant specialist, my philosophy extends beyond treating disease or replacing missing teeth—I believe exceptional care begins with thoughtful planning, personalized treatment, and long-term relationships with both patients and referring doctors.
At Traynor Periodontics & Implants, we provide highly individualized periodontal and implant care in a welcoming, boutique environment designed to make patients feel comfortable and cared for from the moment they walk through our doors. Our approach combines advanced technology with a
level of personal attention that allows every treatment plan to be tailored to the unique needs and goals of each patient.
My practice focuses on precision-driven implant placement and regenerative procedures that help preserve natural teeth and restore the health and beauty of the smile. Through advanced surgical techniques and digital treatment planning, we are able to provide predictable outcomes while prioritizing comfort, function, and aesthetics.
I also have a particular interest in minimally invasive approaches, including palate-free gingival grafting for the treatment of gum recession, and laser therapy, allowing many patients to experience a more comfortable
recovery while achieving beautiful, natural results.
What has always mattered most to me, however, is the experience we create for our patients. I believe people deserve care that feels personal, thoughtful, and unhurried. Whether placing a single tooth implant, treating periodontal disease, or rebuilding a smile, my goal is to provide the highest level of care while helping patients feel informed, confident, and truly cared for throughout the process.
After nearly three decades in practice, I remain as passionate as ever about combining innovation, artistry, and individualized care to help patients achieve healthy smiles that last a lifetime.

Doctors Mark and Sean Sutton of Greenwich Dentistry in Cos Cob are located at 391 East Putnam Ave. Their practice has cared for patients since 1977 and boasts a long history of providing dental services to a loyal patient base. Dr. Sean Sutton joined his father at the helm in 2019 and brings a fresh outlook and contemporary armamentarium to dental care.
Dr. Mark Sutton graduated from NYU College of Dentistry after taking a hiatus from his medical training to pursue an interest in becoming a Hollywood stuntman. After serving as Robin Williams’s stunt double in “World According to Garp,” and appearing in films like “Splash” and “Ghost Busters,” he realized he would rather fix teeth than break them. For over 30 years, Dr. Mark Sutton has helped build one of the oldest and most reputable practices in Greenwich through his commitment to lifelong education, evidence-based practice and patient satisfaction. Dr. Sutton puts his patients’ comfort and treatment expectations at the forefront, while using the latest technology to deliver the highest quality care. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Connecticut State Dental Association, and the Greenwich Dental Society, where he has served as president.
Dr. Sean Sutton was born and raised in Greenwich, where he was given a firsthand perspective to the impact his father makes in the community through patient care and neighborhood outreach programs.
At the University of Michigan, Sean was Captain of the 1st and 2nd ever Division-1 men’s lacrosse teams and excelled in his studies and goal of becoming a doctor. Like his father, Dr. Sean Sutton graduated with honors from NYU College of Dentistry. There, he learned from the top minds in the fields of cosmetic and restorative dentistry, while taking advantage of the school’s world renowned research programs and state-of-the-art dental

technology. He completed his hospital residency program at The Brooklyn Hospital, where he received extensive training in oral surgery, orthodontics and pediatrics. Dr. Sean Sutton believes that oral health is an integral part of overall health and works with specialists in all fields of medicine to provide his patients with healthy and beautiful smiles. Dr. Sean Sutton is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Connecticut State Dental Association, and the American
Academy of Clear Aligners. The Greenwich Dentistry office is located on the Post Road in the heart of Cos Cob in a restored Victorian building with plenty of parking. Here, the father- son team guarantees top-quality work while minimizing the stress of going to the dentist. With a friendly staff, a comfortable waiting room (where almost no time is spent), contemporary operatories and cutting-edge technology the anxiety often associated with the dental patient experience is a thing of the past!

GOODWIN DENTAL
31 River Road, Suite 300, Cos Cob, CT 203.869.2552 | dgoodwindds.com
If you add up all the years Dr. Goodwin has been in the Dental Field as a Hygienist and a Dentist, you will see she has been taking care of teeth for over 20 years. “Time has flown by. I’ve had the opportunity to see so many changes in Dentistry.” Technological advances really help her days go by with less stress. At her family practice in Cos Cob she uses the safest equipment and the most up-todate technology available. While there are many things I love about being a Dentist, treatment planning with the local specialists in town is very exciting for me. Being a solo Dentist at my office can get lonely sometimes, so it is great to work and collaborate with a group of talented dentists I also call my friends. I love watching kids I see at 3 or 4 years old grow up. Being a general dentist I can appreciate different stages of growth and even watch them have their own children. But the best
part about my job is the worklife balance it provides me of a mother of 2 active boys. I can get into work early, treat patients all day, and make it to their events after school. It is most important to me not to miss my children growing up, and Dentistry allows me to do just that.
Our practice has continues to serve our community for over 20 years. We provide state-ofthe-art treatment in all phases of dentistry, including after hour emergency care. We engage in continuing education to stay up to date with the latest technologies to best serve our patients and families. We get to know our patients very, very well. Our staff have been with our practice a LONG time. We love seeing our patients all over town. I love when kids run up to me to show me their wiggly teeth or when patients introduce me to their families. It’s a great feeling and the reason I love being a Local Dentist.
