Lobring plays lead role as All-Metro

Wane Lobrlng was more than just a scorer for the Anderson soccer team this season - he was the team leacter on and off the field.

With 21-year-old Brian Sulllvan, a young and Inexperienced coach at the reigns, It was Lobrlng who displayed the dedication and set the example for the younger players. This attitude and spirit was an Important part In the molding of the Redsklns Into Clnclnnatl's top team.

During the regular season, Lobrlng scored 18 goals and led the Redsklns to the championship of the Eastern Metro League. Anderson complied a 16-0-2 overall record, 8-0-2 In the EML. Lobrlng's leadership and performance earned the Anderson senior striker The Post's 1988 Class AAA Metro Player of the Year.

Many Anderson supporters thought that the school admlnlstratlon had given up on soccer when the youthful Sulllvan was named coach.

Despite his Inexperience, Sulllvan excelled.

For the first time In years, the Redsklns were named city champions. As a result, Sulllvan Is a Post Co-Coach of the Year.

In less than five years, Tom Davoran has turned Elder Into one of Cincinnati's best teams. This year, the Panthers won the tough Greater Clnclnnatl League that Included top 10 teams St. Xavier, Roger Bacon and Moeller. Elder, 11-2-2 overall, lost only to Moeller and Roger Bacon.

This was the third consecutive season that Elder has won the GCL, and this year's performance earned Davoran Co-Coach of the Year.
