He also coaches at the collegiate level with Xavier University’s Club Rugby program. Known for high energy and culture building, Brookbank emphasizes brotherhood, competition, and having fun while developing athletes into confident players and leaders on and off the field. He’s proud to play a role in helping these athletes grow into remarkable young men.

Coach Tabor grew up in Cleveland, playing wing and fullback for Lakewood High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Marines as a rifleman, completing two combat deployments to Iraq. Injuries sustained from a roadside bomb in Iraq cut short any dreams of playing rugby after the Marines. Coach Tabor went on to attend The Ohio State University, earning a bachelor’s in history and a master’s in education.
When not on the field, Coach Tabor teaches American Government and Military History at Clermont Northeastern High School. He lives in Milford with his wife, Savannah, and two sons, Caleb and Jonah, who hope to one day attend Moeller.

Tyler is in his fourth season overseeing operations for the Moeller Rugby program. He serves as the liaison between the rugby program and the athletic department, while also acting as the social media coordinator, managing travel logistics, and directing recruiting efforts.
At Moeller, Tyler was a four-year soccer player and was a member of the Zaragoza House. After graduating in 2011, he attended Purdue University, where he majored in Financial Planning and Counseling with minors in Entrepreneurship and Organizational Leadership & Supervision.
Professionally, Tyler is a Risk Management Consultant with Risk International and resides in Norwood, OH. In 2023, he expanded his leadership in the rugby community by taking on the role of Co-Director of Rookie Rugby Cincinnati which is the only youth rugby league in the city and provides programing for grades 3-8.

OUR GOAL: Our Goal of the Moeller rugby program is to help our players become better leaders in the community, better future fathers/ husbands, and better Men Moeller.
THE SPORT OF RUGBY: Rugby is a sport that is a mix between football and soccer. It is said that soccer inspired rugby and rugbyinspired football. Rugby consists of 30 players on a field (15 from each team) trying to score more points than the other team. The way you score in rugby is by scoring a try (touchdown), kicking a penalty kick (field goal), or drop kicks (live game field goals). A try is awarded when a player crosses the goal line and touches the ball to the ground while maintaining control of the ball. Penalties come from breaking one of the “laws of rugby” for example a high tackle (above the chest) or not wrapping in a tackle. Rugby is a game of possession, not a game of field position. There is a scrum which is the restart of the game when there is a knock-on (the ball is moved forward without a kick) and is when 8 players from each team contest for the ball by driving the other 8 backward. A lineout is the restart of the game after the ball is taken out of bounds. This consists of two teams competing for the ball by lifting their players to a height and throwing the ball in. Lastly, there is a ruck after each tackle is made. After a tackle is made the player who was tackled must release the ball, and a ruck is formed over the top of them this is a way that each team can compete for the possession of the ball. Players’ positions are also represented by their number on the field. For example, a Full back would wear the number 15.
THE SAFETY OF RUGBY: Rugby is a sport where it looks worse than it is. As you have seen, a big push in football is to go to the rugby tackle. The “rugby tackle” is a tackle where you must wrap the opposing player, you can’t lift him into the air, and you must tackle below the chest. All these things are for the safety of both players. The players run at each other from a lesser distance and with much less speed than in football. Such as safety coming down on a slant route, those speeds and collisions are much larger than what you will experience in rugby. Lastly unlike football, it’s not a game of field position so when making a tackle you don’t have to hit them so hard that they stop dead in their tracks. In rugby, all you have to do is get the opposing player to the ground so the “big hits” don’t occur as often.
This is the 17th year of our program. It started as a club in 2009 and is now a varsity sport at Moeller

Moeller Tennis is set to begin its 63rd season as a varsity sport. Established in 1963 by head coach Bro. Richard Keyes, SM, the program has grown into a respected force in Cincinnati tennis. Moeller Tennis fields two teams—Varsity and Junior Varsity—and plays its home matches and conducts practices at the Blue Ash Rec Center. Each match consists of three singles and two doubles contests, with victory requiring wins in at least three of the five courts. Over the years, Moeller Tennis has accumulated 620 wins and holds a .548 winning percentage. The program has claimed two GCL co-titles, in 1968 and 2018. To date, only one doubles team—Jeff Munafo and Dave Necessary (1994)—has qualified for the OHSAA State Tournament.
Moeller Tennis had an excellent season in the spring of 2025. Varsity finished with an 11-6 record and ended the year ranked 5th in the city, while JV also posted a strong 8-6 record. Both teams placed 2nd in the GCL, and in the GCTCA Coaches Classic Tournament, Varsity finished 3rd in its flight while JV captured a flight championship. The highlight of the season came at Sectionals, where the team delivered its best performance of the year in an electric all-out effort, highlighted by junior Adam Anastasia becoming Moeller’s first-ever Singles Sectional Champion. The Class of 2025 contributed significantly in doubles play, with Henry Brown earning 8 wins, Garrett Keller 10 wins, Grady Lemmerman 2 wins, Charlie Mollaun 7 wins, Alexander Rose 4 wins, and Alex Vonderhaar 7 wins. From the Class of 2026, Adam Anastasia led the way in singles with 18 victories, a Sectional Championship, and a trip to the 2nd round of Districts, while Scott Kaplan added 3 doubles wins. Sophomore Will Jordan recorded 17 combined singles and doubles victories, and freshman Nick Shehata earned 11 singles wins.
Postseason recognition reflected the team’s success. Adam Anastasia and Will Jordan earned 1st Team GCL Singles honors, while Nick Shehata was named 2nd Team GCL Singles. The doubles team of Henry Brown and Charlie Mollaun received 2nd Team GCL Doubles recognition. From the Greater Cincinnati Tennis Coaches’ Association, Anastasia earned the 2nd Team Singles Player Award and Brown and Mollaun received Honorable Mention Doubles Team honors. Anastasia was also recognized as a Cincinnati Enquirer Singles Player of the Week. At the state level, Brown and Mollaun received the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association Golden Racquet Award, while Anastasia, Garrett Keller, Grady Lemmerman, and Alexander Rose earned Silver Racquet honors. Team awards capped the season, with Henry Brown and Garrett Keller receiving the Man of Moeller Award, Adam Anastasia named Most Valuable Player, and Charlie Mollaun earning the Spirit Award. While tennis is often seen as an individual sport, at Moeller, it is a team-driven pursuit. We compete together, upholding Moeller’s core values: Build the Family, Hold the Door, and Earn the Shield

Coach Pieper is entering his third season as varsity head coach. As a 2013 graduate of Moeller high school, he was a three-year varsity starter for Moeller. In 2012, his team went 27-2 and won the State Championship. In his high school career, Coach Pieper was selected First Team All GCL in ‘12 and ‘13 and GCL Player of the Year in 2013. He was awarded Second Team All-State in 2012 and First Team All-State in 2013. He continued his career as a club player at the University of Dayton and one season playing DI at The Ohio State University. Being at Moeller was one of the best times of Coach Pieper’s life and playing sports was a big part of that. Specifically, the people in the program were amazing and helped him have a wonderful experience. His goal is to provide that same experience to current Moeller students.

Kevin Brandner returns to the Moeller volleyball program in the 2026 season as a varsity assistant coach. As a player, Kevin was a member of the back-to-back state championship teams in 2004 and 2005. He continued his career at the University of Dayton, playing club volleyball and serving as a practice player for the women’s team. Kevin previously coached six seasons at Moeller—including the 2012 state championship campaign—and ten seasons at Mount Notre Dame from 2011–2020. Driven by a love for teaching and player development, he is excited to help foster growth and success within the program.

Bill Eckhoff will be returning to Coach Pieper’s staff as a varsity assistant. His prior Moeller volleyball roles include a junior varsity coach from 2012 to 2019. Bill rejoined the Moeller volleyball program in 2023 as a program assistant coach, working with the junior varsity and varsity teams. Much of his coaching career has been focused on developing player skills, teaching leadership, resilience, and giving back to the game. Through these experiences, he has seen the impact that the Moeller volleyball program has on the players. He looks forward to continuing with coach Casey Pieper and his staff this season to build on the program’s success. Bill is also a volleyball coach at Mt. Notre Dame, just completing his 11th season.
Bill and his wife Rose are no strangers to the Moeller family. Rose was the Director of Development for 15 years. She currently works in the Mercy McAuley development office. Their daughter Hanna is a 2008 MND graduate. They currently reside in Loveland and are members of St. Margaret of York Parish.

Coach Hunter is returning to the Moeller Volleyball program after previously serving as a freshman and junior varsity head coach from 2007-2010. As a player Dustin was a starting middle on state championship teams in 2004 and 2005. Dustin has also previously coached at all three levels at Mount Notre Dame for a combined ten seasons. After some time away, Dustin is looking forward to being back with the program and using his experience to help mentor the next wave of young athletes and continuing the great tradition of Moeller Volleyball.

In 1994, the Moeller High School Athletic Department announced that they would join GCL rivals St. Xavier and Elder by fielding a volleyball team for the 1995 season. Head Coach Tom Brinkmann, along with Co-Athletic Directors, Barry Borman and Dick Beerman, were critical in the formation of the team. Brinkmann was joined by Janet Jager, a state championship coach (1995) at Mount Notre Dame, to coach the inaugural varsity team.
Dan Meyer was hired to develop the junior varsity team. Moeller was quickly introduced to the boys’ volleyball scene, playing former powerhouse Lebanon High School in their first ever match. Moeller lost 15-0, 15-1 to the eventually undefeated 1995 State Champions. Brain Cullen would serve the Crusaders to their first point, an ace.
Over the next three years, points and aces were much easier to come by. In 1997, the Crusaders accomplished a truly impressive feat by winning their first state championship in only their third year as a program. In 1998, the Crusaders, led by Brinkmann and Meyer, repeated as state champions.
In 2002, Greg Ulland, a 1997 graduate and state champion took over the helm as the varsity head coach. In ten years as the varsity coach, he led the Crusaders to eight state championship appearances, winning the state title in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2009, while finishing as runners-up in 2003, 2006, 2010 and 2011.
Ulland retired after the 2011 season and Matt McLaughlin, a 2005 graduate and 2004 and 2005 state champion, was named the new varsity head coach. Under Coach McLaughlin’s 8 years leading the varsity program, his teams earned six GCL championships (2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019). McLaughlin also led the varsity volleyball team to four state finals appearances, winning state in 2012 and 2018, and ending state finalists in 2016 and 2019.
At the conclusion of the 2019 season, Coach McLaughlin decided to step down from the position. Later that summer, the Moeller Athletic Department welcomed Lee Meyer, a 2007 graduate and 2005 and 2007 state champion, as the new head coach. Coach Meyer’s first season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The following season, the varsity team went 23-3 and were crowned GCL and state champions.
In Moeller volleyball’s 28 seasons, the varsity team has an overall record of 637 wins to 137 losses. They have won the GCL Championship in 17 of those seasons and have appeared in the state championship match 17 times, winning the state championship title 11 times.
