VARSITY FOOTBALL COACHES
Bert Bathiany | Varsity Head Coach Bert Bathiany enters his fourth season as the head coach of the Moeller football team. In 2025, the Crusaders posted an 8-4 record that included wins over rivals St. Xavier and Princeton in the King of the Block game. Bathiany now holds a career record of 42–14 (.750) in his four years as head coach. Including a 10-2 record in the Greater Catholic League (GCL) and a 3-0 record in the King of the Block game. In the 2025 contest versus Princeton, the Moeller defense tied the record for most interceptions in a game with six. Matt Ponatoski completed his decorated career at quarterback by repeating as the GCL Offensive Player of the Year and being named First Team All-Ohio in consecutive seasons. Junior Patrick O’Brien (OL), earned First Team honors while junior Reggie Watson (WR), and senior Christian Harris (DT), earned Second Team honors. Senior Cooper McCutchan (TE), senior Conner Cuozzo (LB), sophomore Jace Montgomery (OL), junior Jack Mallabar (K/P), & junior Marino Middleton (DB) all earned Honorable Mention All-Ohio as well. Ponatoski will end his Moeller career by breaking every passing statistic which includes: Career Passing Yards: 10,145 yds; Career Passing TDs: 116 TDs; Career Passes Attempted: 1,121 att.; Career Completions: 724 comp.; Single-Season Passing Yards:4,217 yds; Single-Season Passing TDs: 57 TDs; Single-Season Passes Attempted: 405; Single-Season Completions: 281 comp.; Most Passing TDs in a Game: 6 (x2: St. Xavier ’24 & Centerville ’24) & x5 (Mt. Carmel, IL ’25 & St. Ignatius ’25); Longest Pass Play: 99 yds to Jovan Love vs. Centerville ‘24 The most impressive statistic, is that Ponatoski only threw 14 interceptions his entire career, giving him a 116/14 TD-to-INT ratio. Reggie Watson burst onto the scene in 2025 by becoming the main receiving threat for the Crusader offense. Reggie broke the single-season record for receptions in a season with 72 catches for 979 yards and eight touchdowns. He broke the previous record of 67 set by Tony Harris in 2008. Jack Mallabar followed up his record-setting performance in 2024 by scoring 79 points in 2025. Jack went 49/51 on extra points and 10-12 on fields goals with a long of 47 in week five against St. Xavier. Jack’s 161 total points places him second all-time in Moeller history for points scored in a career by a kicker, trailing Matt Coghlin’s mark of 233 points scored. Multiple players earned post-season awards in the GCL that include Receiver of the Year (Reggie Watson), Tight End of the Year (Cooper McCutchan), Defensive Lineman of the Year (Christian Harris), and Kicker of the Year (Jack Mallabar). McCutchan, Harris, and Mallabar all won the award in 2024 as well. In year two, the Crusaders posted a 14-2 record that included another GCL-South Championship (4-0), a Regional Championship, and a trip to the Division I state championship. This was the first appearance in the state championship game for the Crusaders since 2013. Matt Ponatoski was named GCL-South Player of the Year and Bathiany was named GCL Coach of the Year again while also being named Cincinnati Enquirer’s Division I Coach of the Year. The Crusaders also took home GCL awards for Back of the Year (Ponatoski), Receiver of the Year (Jovan Love), Tight End of the Year (Cooper McCutchan), Defensive Lineman of the Year (Christian Harris), and Kicker of the Year (Jack Mallabar). In 2024, Matt Ponatoski was named Ohio Mr. Football by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association after completing 69% of his passes for 4,217 yards, 57 touchdowns, and only three interceptions. He also added one rushing touchdown in a playoff win against St. Xavier. Ponatoski is the 38th winner of the prestigious award and the second in a row for Moeller after running back Jordan Marshall won the award in 2023. His 4,217 passing yards ranks 16th all-time in the state of Ohio for a single season. Moeller became the third school ever to boast back-to-back Ohio Mr. Football winners and the first to ever have two different winners in consecutive years. The award is voted on by the

Associated Press and goes to the best high school football player in the state of Ohio. Jordan Marshall and Matt Ponatoski are only the fourth and fifth Cincinnati natives, respectively, to win the prestigious award and the only winners ever at Moeller since the award began in 1987. Marshall and Ponatoski join the likes of Charles Woodson and Joe Burrow as recipients of this illustrious award. Marshall also broke the school record for career rushing yards as he surpassed Marcus Banks’ previous record of 4,098 yds. Ponatoski was also named 2024 Gatorade Player of the Year in Ohio, Division I Offensive Player of the Year, and the Southwest District Division I Offensive Player of the Year. He has broken nearly every passing record at Moeller including career and single season records for attempts, completions, passing yards and touchdown passes. At the end of the 2024 season, multiple players earned all-state honors including JR QB Matt Ponatoski (1st TM), SR WR Jovan Love (1st TM), SR WR Matt Fogler (3rd TM), SR OL Titus Land (HM), JR DL Christian Harris (HM), and SR DL Jonah Hayes (HM). Along with earning All-Ohio honors, Matt Fogler set the Single-Season Record for TD Receptions in a Season with 16. This feat tied Monty Madaris’s record for most points scored by a Receiver in a season with 96. Jack Mallabar also found his name in the Moeller record books by scoring a single-season best 82 points by a Kicker. This broke the previous record 77 set by Brian Huston in 1993. Mallabar also set the single-season record for most extra points scored in a Season with 73. In his first year at the helm, he guided Big Moe to a 10-5 record, a GCL-South Championship (4-0), and a Regional Championship. Jordan Marshall was named GCL-South Play of the Year and Bathiany was named Coach of the Year. BAND & COLOR GUARD STATS
Band & Color Guard
History of Moeller/Mount Notre Dame Band Celebrating its ninth year, the Moeller/Mount Notre Dame Band & Guard is an official partnership between the two schools to create a high-performing musical ensemble. The band has seen growing success both on the field and in concert hall venues. They have received gold medal ratings through Heritage Music Festivals and have been invited to perform at prestigious performance venues including the Chicago Symphony Hall. This year’s marching show Rock & Roll Rewind showcases the band and guards’ versatility and dedication toward the pursuit of excellence and will precede a concert season filled with high quality selections performed both at Moeller’s brand-new Paul E. Flaig Performing Arts Center as well as Mount Notre Dame’s Performing Arts Center. We invite everyone to come out and support our growing musicians at all of our performances throughout the year. Ms. Taryn Rupp and the Moeller/Mount Notre Dame Band & Guard are grateful to both administrations for their continued support in growing this partnership. The band hopes to continue setting the bar for musical excellence and surprising audiences with amazing performances for years to come.

MOELLER AND CONGER: BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE From the cafeteria, to the theater, to the Innovation Hub, and now the new grandstands at Kremchek Stadium, Conger has helped build the places where the Men of Moeller gather, create, learn, and compete. Building on a campus that never stops running takes planning, honesty, and a team that respects the place they’re working in. It’s how we keep complex projects predictable and frictionfree. Conger brings the resources and precision along with the accountability of a team that treats every corner of a project like it’s our own. Moeller builds men of character. We’re honored to build the places where that happens. The preferred builder of Moeller High School.
