KENWOOD - The Moeller Crusaders basketball team. had only lost one game all season and that was to an outstanding St. Benedict of New Jersey team (ranked No. 3 in USA Today), 56·-45, during Christmas break. Dreams of a fourth state title were dashed as the Crusaders were defeated by Trotwood Madison, 48-45, in the Division I district title game at the University of Dayton Arena Friday night. . Even in defeat, Moeller coach carl Kremer said that his team had nothing to be ashamed about. "It was a disapointment. It was a

devastated locker room . after the game. It was a very close senior class (1 0 seniors) and committed!. There was a lot of love and it was painful, but over the big picture, the kids bought into the system and we'll miss these seniors," Kremer said. . One of the seniors was Quinn McDowell, playing for the first time in a long time. He finished with five points. Moeller h~d been winning without him, but there was never any hesitation on Kremer's part to play him. · "We felt we needed him to win the championship. He's a leader," Kremer said. As for the game, Kremer applauded the victors, "They're very good. They have a solid defense and hit

some big shots." As for the future, losing 1Qseni9rs will be difficult, but Kremer will take ' the challenge. "This will be the most change that I will have dealt with. We'll be inexperienced and very young. It'll be a brand new challenge, but we have · talented guys coming up." Moeller ended the season at 21-2,' which included . a . perfect 14-0 in a tough Greater Catholic Leagu~e and a tough non-league schedule and did lose their finale, but coach Kremer was still very proud of thiE particular team. 'Tin more proud of this team than any other t)1at I've had," Kremer concluded.
