01 RISING TOGETHER

RISING TOGETHER:

Garfield Super Block, Seattle, WA (2025)

Gar eld Super Block for Community Power

Challenge: The area has been experiencing significant

over time, and in recent years gentrification has disproportionately affected Black and other minority communities, disrupting existing community bonds.

Solutions: The design encourages people to gather and (re)build strong community connections by providing welcoming spaces, smooth transitions from the sidewalk, and integration with the surrounding neighborhood. I worked on three playground areas that support families in daily interaction raising children within the community

A colorful fist surface symbolizes solidarity and empowerment, shown in the colors of the seven historical ethnic groups.

The play equipment allows bouncing, spinning, swinging, jumping, and climbing.

These elements support continuous play, in-between play, and nature play through wood features.

The elements encourages calmness, sound exploration, and focus.

02 ACTIVATING PIONEER SQUARE

Pioneer Square, Seattle, WA (Urban Sites Studio 2024)

- WASLA Student Awards 2024 Foundation Studios: Merit Award-

Challenge: Reimagine a private parking lot in Pioneer Square as an inclusive public space and transform it into a vibrant urban commons.

Solutions: The design uses cobblestone pavers to reflect the historic context of the area while supporting multiple uses, including a public courtyard for workers, a rest space for tourists, and a venue for events such as music performances.

03 CONNECT AND COOL -Group

Project-

Union Bay Natural Area, Seattle, WA (Ecosystems Studio 2024)

Challenge: The Union Bay Natural Area, once a landfill and now an important urban wilderness, is a valuable public asset with the potential to serve as a natural cooling site.

Solutions: By redesigning the paths and wetland flow within the site, we aim to create a more interactive and immersive experience with nature. The enhanced wetland features also mitigate summer heat while providing habitat for wildlife. Master Plan (Created with group members using Photoshop and Illustrator)

04 NEIGHBORHOOD PLAYGROUND NETWORKS

FOR CHILDREN’S FREE PLAY Independent Research - Thesis - (2026)

Challenge: Although children need ample time for free play to support their growth and well-being, many are not provided with access to diverse play experiences for a variety of reasons. A limited awareness of the value and importance of play and playgrounds further contributes to this issue.

Solutions: I propose a network of neighborhood playgrounds in which each site offers distinct play experiences and functions in a complementary manner. Together, these playgrounds create a rich and diverse play environment that supports children’s development and well-being.
