Moon boots on! Aspiring astronauts will explore the wonder, obstacles and challenges of a journey to space.

Leading up to Earth Day, MODS and other Planet Protectors in our community are sharing ways to give Earth some love.

What can families do at the Museum?

• Buzzworthy Activities: Flowers and seed dissection, leaf rubbings and makeand-take a toad house and native seed balls (take it home and watch them grow!) • Exhibits, Shows and Demos: Become a budding conservationist by diving into our Water Conservationist show that discusses ways to conserve this precious commodity and create a plan. April 17 Check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. Get ready for an egg-citing morning of finding eggs at MODS’ Egg-splorations! Children ages 2-10 can fill their baskets as they hunt for eggs. Families will enjoy a fun event that features the egg hunt and various egg engineering challenges, including creating an eggstronaut for an egg drop challenge and engineering an egg launcher while exploring some great physics concepts and prizes for eggs collected. Participants will meet MODS resident bunny and other Florida wildlife, too! April 24 • May 22 • June 26 July 24 • August 28 September 25 12 p.m. At 12 p.m. on the fourth Sunday of each month, sensory-friendly film screenings await individuals with autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorders and global developmental delays at the Museum of Discovery and Science’s AutoNation® IMAX® Theater. To provide a more sensory-sensitive environment for individuals on the autism spectrum, the theater lights will be turned up and the sound will be lowered. All films will be presented in 2D. No trailers will be shown before the movie. Audience members are welcome to get up, sing, walk, dance and shout without worrying about someone complaining. Families also are able to bring snacks from home, as well as blankets and other small items to be comfortable. Guests also can participate in a variety of sensory based activities throughout the Museum. Children will engage in social interactions and improve the processing, modulation and regulation of sensory input to increase participation in a natural environment.

Your adventure begins at the Museum with a presentation about turtles and then continues at Fort Lauderdale Beach where a Museum expert guides you to sea turtle nesting grounds. We can’t guarantee a nesting sea turtle will be spotted on every walk, but when it happens, it’s a natural wonder you will never forget! Parking is available in the Museum bus loop on a first-come, first-served basis. MAY 7 Asian-Pacific American Heritage Celebration at MODS Guests will enjoy a day of dancing, music, costumes and more as we celebrate Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month at MODS! Families will travel back in time with Dinosaurs in Motion. This exhibit weaves the principles of kinetics, biomechanics, and robotics in their exposed mechanics and movable features for a roaring good time!

What can families do at the Museum?

• Dino Activities: Future paleontologists will excavate artifacts just like a paleontologist in the field in the Dino Dig Pit. Assess evidence by chipping away fossils with a chocolate chip cookie dig and make-and-take a shark tooth necklace. • Exhibits, Shows and Demos: Explore Dinosaurs in Motion traveling exhibit with 14 fully interactive, recycled life-size metal dinosaur sculptures inspired by actual fossils. Learners will try their hand at the lever-and-pulley systems or remote controls in a brand-new exhibit that fuses art with traditional STEAM. Explorers will travel along an apprentice’s path that ends at Innovation Stations, where they can test their creativity and newfound technological inspiration with hands-on activities.
