SUPPLY CHAIN CHALLENGES

One of the top five chemical manufacturers in the world had a mandate to raise the service standards of their American distribution. On-time performance and customer care provide a competitive advantage in chemicals and their new supply chain leadership wanted to increase their lead

The company’s direct relationships with 20 to 30 toptier less-than-truckload (LTL) carriers was an administrative challenge. Pricing, booking, tracking and billing was initiated through 20 to 30 different websites

WHY MODE TRANSPORTATION

MODE’s experience in the chemical vertical and roster of clients in the chemical vertical, made MODE a natural choice Additionally, MODE’s relationships with top trucking companies and well-established intermodal capabilities made MODE a strong partner for what the company hoped to accomplish in service improvements and carbon reduction

Environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments were a company priority. Our client needed to deliver real, measurable CO reduction and transportation held tremendous untapped opportunities 2

“WE WERE ABLE TO HELP OUR PARTNER IMMEDIATELY BY CONSOLIDATING THEIR LTL CARRIERS AND PROVIDING FULL ACCESS TO TRANSPORTATION MODES THEY WEREN’T USING.”

MODE’S SOLUTION SET

Consolidated all LTL carrier relationships into one point of contact.

MODE’s transportation strategy reduced our client’s pool to five best-in-class carriers accessible via MODE’s proprietary platform. This was the key to taking their ontime performance from the 80s to the 90s.

Delivered one powerful technology platform for unprecedented visibility and functionality.

MODE’s TRITAN™ platform easily integrated with the client’s ERP system. Client team members can select rates, specify service levels, track shipments, compare carrier performance and execute reports from one pane –without pain

Created one rate guide and one assessorial schedule for the client’s main carriers. Simplified fees and rates lowered administrative burdens related to everything from budgeting to auditing They can also leverage the heft of MODE’s overall LTL spend for low rates

Provided a smooth transition for the client’s 100+ DCs. MODE’s team visited sites before and after transportation services launched, sometimes dropping in two or three times to meet with facility managers and forklift operators. Visits included sharing food, providing guidance and fine-tuning processes.

Enacted a plan for leveraging MODE’s intermodal experience for significant savings. Having transported 17,000 loads for the company, MODE is working on an intermodal conversion opportunity to help our client control carbon emissions and lower costs compared to OTR methods of shipping

Built leading-edge ESG KPIs for an industry-leading program.

MODE’s experience converting over-the-road (OTR) loads to intermodal, combined with advanced carbon-offsetting programs are moving the customer to the forefront on the world stage – just where this global leader in chemical manufacture wants to be
