Woven with Joy: Meet Jenelle Kent of Pieces to Treasure
For Jenelle Kent, the heart behind Pieces to Treasure, creativity has always been stitched into the fabric of her life. “I often think of my journey as a creative thread that’s woven itself through every stage,” she says—and it’s a fitting metaphor. From childhood days spent imagining what bolts of fabric could become, to designing sophisticated collections for Moda, Jenelle’s passion for textiles has remained a constant companion.
From the Classroom to the Cutting Table
Jenelle began her professional life as a primary school teacher in coastal New South Wales, Australia, where she lives in MacMasters Beach, about an hour north of Sydney. But it wasn’t long before quilting captured her imagination. “I discovered patchwork at a local shop and became immediately hooked,” she recalls. The

endless color combinations and creative possibilities proved irresistible.
As her family grew, so did her creative ambitions. She began designing children’s patterns, eventually opening her own quilt shop. “That’s when I realized I’d found my perfect job,” she says. That love of teaching never left her—today it lives on in her patterns, tutorials, and videos for quilters worldwide.
Her journey took a dream-come-true turn when she began designing fabric for Moda. “It’s been the most rewarding journey, and one that I’m still constantly learning and growing through.”
A Love for Wovens
Known for her refined yet approachable style, Jenelle has carved a unique niche through her use of wovens and Moda toweling. “Woven stripes became a foundation for
many of my designs,” she explains. “They lend themselves to a myriad of possibilities, and designing with them is a joy.”
Her latest collection for Moda, Summer Solstice, embodies that joy in every thread. Inspired by the soft, golden light of late summer days, the line features deep sea blues, sun-washed waterfall shades, and pops of citrusy yellow. “It’s familiar but with a twist of sunshine,” she says. Classic stripes and ginghams anchor the line with timeless charm, while new explorations in light and shadow add depth and dimension.
A particular standout for Jenelle? “The soft waterfall blue and canary yellow stripe—it’s cheerful and sun-washed,” she says. And for versatility, she loves the trio of larger gingham checks: afternoon, waterfall, and nautical blue.
Patterns With Purpose
When it comes to pattern design, Jenelle strikes a beautiful balance between style and functionality. “Designing with Moda toweling is particularly exciting because it brings functionality to the forefront,” she says. Geometry plays a big role too—an element that speaks to her inner “geometry nerd.”
The Summer Solstice patterns reflect her signature approach: timeless yet fresh. From the applique beauty of the Limoncello Spritz runner to the restful elegance of Sunwashed and Woven Blooms quilts, each piece is thoughtfully crafted to inspire creativity and joy.
Looking Ahead
Now that her shop has closed, Jenelle is embracing new opportunities to design,

create, and connect. “I plan on showing the versatility of Moda toweling and wovens— how they can be combined with prints or used alone to make truly beautiful and practical projects,” she says. She’s also creating more video tutorials and blog content to share her expertise and spark new ideas for quilters everywhere.
When she’s not stitching, Jenelle enjoys gardening, walking, home renovating, and even playing piano in a swing band. “I’m very fortunate to be surrounded by my family and rescue cat,” she says, “and to be able to share my love of fabric and design with stitchers all over the world.”

“Let your heart be light”
I saw delphiniums for the first time with my dearest friend Rosie. It was the first time we’d been together for a long time; we’d just enjoyed a delicious lunch in a little restaurant set in the grounds of a garden. The sun was shining, we were all content and happy to be together at last, and then we saw the delphiniums…love at first sight!
Huge, tall spires of flowers in every shade of blue and lilac, the softest pinks and mauves filling the borders and catching our imaginations. Captivating!
I couldn’t wait to get home to my paints to capture the lovely afternoon forever.

Meet Moda's New Designer
Hello, I’m Keri Anguiano! Quilting has been my creative heartbeat for over a decade. For me, it’s an art that stitches together joy, memories, and creativity. I proudly created Catching Stitches in 2013, where I write quilt patterns, curate special fabric bundles, and design fabric for Moda Fabrics.
I draw endless inspiration from Southern California’s breathtaking landscapes— sun-kissed beaches, rugged mountains, and wild desert blooms. These vibrant backdrops spark ideas that I can’t wait to weave into patterns. My goal is to create designs that bring joy to fellow quilters and celebrate the beauty of life’s little moments.
Beyond fabric and art, I cherish my roles as wife and mom to six amazing kids. They often join me in the studio, where chaos turns into cherished memories. I’m a sucker for wildflower meadows, chasing thunderstorms across the desert, and embracing nature’s adventures with my family.

For Pamelia’s Path, I drew inspiration from historical records about Pamelia Dillin Fergus, who was born in 1824 and raised on the early frontier of upstate New York. When she was 18, Pamelia made her first overland journey to Illinois with her family. There she married James Fergus and had three children. In 1855, Pamelia once again packed up their belongings and children, boarded a Mississippi River steamboat, and followed James to a settlement in presentday Minnesota. By 1860, the prospect of finding gold in the Rocky Mountains lured James to try his luck, leaving Pamelia and now four children for four years. In 1864, James sent Pamelia—tired of living on her own—enough gold dust to purchase two wagons, oxen, and extensive provisions, along with instructions to pack a good sewing machine, bring the milk cow, and meet his partner in Council Bluffs to join a wagon train going to Montana. Pamelia’s newlywed daughter and her husband drove one team of oxen while Pamelia drove the other.
While Pamelia declined the suggestion to sew flour sacks while traveling, the jostling of the wagon effectively churned the cow’s cream that was skimmed after milking into butter. After the long journey, Pamelia and her children reached their new home in Montana—the last frontier home for Pamelia.
Inspiration for Circle the Wagons, Nuggets and Dust, and The Path Toward Home, all come directly from the stories of this brave and resilient pioneer woman, Pamelia Fergus. FEBRUARY DELIVERY

Quail Run features a lovely floral print blooming with all the rich colors of a KT palette. Coordinating vines, berries, and geometrics add movement and depth to this collection. I enjoy watching the coveys of quail around our home each year, the mamas skittering across the driveway with a trail of chicks following closely behind. When I was young, my dad raised and trained bird dogs for hunting pheasant and quail. My brother and I enjoyed helping him feed and train the dogs at the farm each evening. We all knew when quail/pheasant season arrived; Dad would be with his hunting buddies and their dogs, enjoying long walks through the trees, brush, and wildflowers. At the end of the season, they all gathered for a huge potluck dinner with bacon-wrapped quail as the featured dish. Quail Run captures those fond childhood memories of time spent with my dad and his love of nature and conservation.

Morris Muse celebrates the unsung women of Arts and Crafts design. William Morris and fellows valued female associates as models, lovers, and muses—inspiration for male artistic creation. Morris’s wife, Jane Burden Morris, a classic “stunner” as the men termed the beauties, earned no fame for her talents, yet she and daughter May were artists in their own right, designing, stitching, and overseeing masterpieces of Morris needlework. Despite late-century conventions that kept them behind the screens and drapes they stitched, women in Arts and Crafts circles were true design partners. Prints in the Morris Muse collection continue innovations in natural patterns with rich reds and color complements echoing interior fashion and the women’s personal style.

Mystic Fable was inspired by dreamy fairy tales and fables, antique applique quilts, and traditional house quilt blocks. The quirky shapes and animal motifs used in applique quilts at the turn of the century have inspired all of Alexia’s recent collections. These animal shapes inspired the panel print. This large scale panel can be used for wall hangings, quilts, table runners, or even stretched on canvas as wall art.

This is the ten year anniversary of Melody’s 2016 collection, Trinket. Once again, she has brought a series of trinkets and small objects to fabric, including two prints from the original collection. For Trinketry, Melody drew a series of 78 match boxes and match books (an idea she’s had for years!) that reference drawings and artwork from throughout her career.
