s an avid collector of antique quilts and textiles, Howard Marcus Dunn, Moda's founder and owner, continues to use his passion to give back to the quilting community. Moda donates proceeds from the sales of the Collection for a Cause fabric collections to various charities and causes. The newest collection, Community, is the 15 th in the Collection for a Cause Series. Proceeds from this latest Collection will be donated to the

Libby Lehman Medical Fund to support and honor designer, lecturer and teacher, Libby Lehman, as she continues her recovery from a stroke. The "Community" quilt, the original 1840's cotton and chintz quilt found in Maine, recognizes and honors the generous, talented and creative individuals who share a common passion for quilting, textiles and design.

I

nspired by a recent trip to the museum, I fell in love with an impressionist painting of an autumn garden in full bloom. Everything in the garden felt alive and full of Technicolor and Áavor, even though I couldn·t taste it! It immediately made me think of fabric. Grounded with a dark, earthy brown and a soft grey, the Somerset collection just sings of fruit and Áowers and an abundance of falling leaves. It is the garden of my dreams. Persimmon, citron, artichoke, poppy and chestnut are joined by rain washed and Àg tones to create a well-rounded group perfect for any litany of quilts, accessories and home projects.

ooking toward the wide expanse of the horizon is such a tranquil thing to me. I’ve lived close to the water for much of my life. One of my favorite things to do in any season is to stroll along the shoreline and to look for treasures left behind from outgoing tides. The color palette for Horizon was inspired by bits of beautiful, luminous sea glass I’ve collected over the years– in hues of bright green, ocean blue, turquoise, and brilliant cobalt. These soothing colors intersect harmoniously with the textural designs created from woodblocks that I handcarved. I hope this collection inspires you to venture to the distant shores of your imagination and to expand your creative horizons!

Intrigued

by antiquities, the 3 Sisters were elated to inherit a book of French textiles and immediately knew it was the inspiration for their new line. While perusing the pages in their studio, it seemed Àtting to name the group Atelier; French for a designer’s workshop. Together they created romantic, faded collages showcasing the delicate shirtings and the original artists’ notes regarding the designs which were then height of fashion. The Sisters are pleased to share this beautiful collection of exquisite fabrics with you.

nspired by the botanical prints coming out of India in the 18th century, our new collection Rue Indienne is Àlled with rich reds, blues and mustards. The luminosity of the Indian color palette was due to the discovery of red from the garance plant, blue from indigo, and yellow, obtained by using gaude. Paisley, botanical and geometric prints are all recurring themes in our Rue Indienne collection.

y mom is the one with the green thumb. In her garden there’s always something blooming, hardly any weeds. It is a haven for birds, bees and butterÁies. I have to admit I’m a fair weather gardener. I do enjoy digging in the spring soil under those Àrst warm days of April. I also love drawing all things garden and Áower related. The inspiration is endless- seed packs, garden quotes, and Áowers, Áowers, Áowers! I’m always keeping my eyes open for vintage script, especially old school samples full of squiggles and designs. To replicate that feel I use pen and ink. My ´normal” handwriting looks juvenile but using the pen and ink is more like drawing the words and, taking my time, I have much better penmanship! – Kathy

t’s a crisp cool morning as we pack the car to head north for the weekend.The smell of fall is in the air. The further north we drive the more visible the vibrant colors become. We arrive at the cabin and it is so spectacular it takes your breath away. This is my favorite time of the year. The weather is still nice enough to take long afternoon walks deeper into the woods. Towards dusk we will witness the deer coming down to drink by the water. It is so quiet and tranquil. There is nothing better than these weekend trips.
