Goals We at Soet & Sout are looking to build a community for individuals of all ages to connect with local farmers, agriculture, and culinary students to understand the significance of not only healthy foods, but also supporting locals around the area and helping the environment. Our goal is to create a space where people will take a glimpse of the beauty of fresh produce, meats and provisions sold locally and give back to the community as a whole.

Helping the Community At Soet & Sout, we want to help the community in different ways to support as many individuals as possible.

To help the community, we maintain a soup kitchen that is available to those who are in need and struggling financially. With the help of local farmers, agriculture and culinary students, we teach many people about the importance of growing fresh produce and understand ways of helping the environment around us. We also want to bring attention to preserving food to avoid creating more waste in the environment not only in the area, but all over the world.

Interior Our restaurant’s interior creates a familiar and homey atmosphere that allows individuals to feel comfortable and pleasant, making them feel welcome before ordering their food. From the tables to the décor, our interior emulates the look of a European café with wooden farmer’s tables with a hint of agricultural elements. We implement different tables, including a couple of larger tables for those who would like to interact with others and big gatherings to create a sense of community, as well as smaller tables for private meetings.

Food Soet & Sout grants a selection of food options that cater to a variety of people of all ages to enjoy. From breakfast to dinner and a wide variety of beverages and alcohol, we aim to serve foods that everyone can enjoy, whether it’s vegan, gluten free, and more. We utilize the local produce around the area to help support local farmers and promote the community to join in as well.

MAIN LOGO The main logo of Soet & Sout consist of the restaruant name and a circle in a dark brown color, three tulips in a muted red, and four muted green leaves outside of the circle. The tulips reprsent the Netherland’s field of tulips, with the leaves representing the tulip leaves. The circle represents a sense of community, as the goal of the restaurant is to bring society together and make connections with one another. The colors are more muted to emit of home and comfortable vibe.

SOCIAL MEDIA Using the main logo for social media profile pictures can minimalized many details within the design. This logo is used to not only represent our identity, but also reference our main logo.

FAVICON Favicons are little icons for websites, most commonly seen on the light side of a tab within a browser. This logo will be used as Soet & Sout’s favicon.

Soet & Sout’s logo is a major part of the restaurants identity. Therefore, it is important to be aware of how the logo is presented. In this case, the logo should NOT be tilted, distorted, stretched, changed into multiple colors, removed parts, and contain a drop shadow.

Photography is important to the restaurant’s identity, especially when attracting individuals. Food photography should be set in a background with soft lighting to emulate a comfortable space.

Handmade plates and cutlery is highly recommended to create a homey-vibe to the photo.

Preferable a light tone for plates and cutlery to contrast between the dark background and foods displayed in photo.

When taking photos for the restaurant, it is important to avoid elements that may make the food unappetizing. No harsh lighting or blur should be present within the photo. The backgound should not be in a light tone to avoid straining individual’s eyes. Body parts beside hands and arms are not allowed in the photo, as it disrupts the focus from the food.

The website is a way for individuals to be introduced to the restaurant, so it is important to create a web design that stands out. The photos consist of foods that are featured in the restaurant. The colors are kept to more brown tones to match with the logo’s colors.

Logo Lucida Handwriting Italics For an elegant and handwritten look, “Lucida Handwriting” in italics was used for the logo to emulate a personal touch from an indivudal.

Header Lora (Bold) To compare well against the logo’s typeface, “Lora” in bold is used for the header to stand out against the sub header and body paragraph text.

The package design is kept minimal to not overwhelm individuals when picking up their food. The logo is on top to identify the package as the restaurant’s product. There’s a tulip design on the front to fill in the blank space. The back of the package consist of the contact information for the restaurant for individuals to have if needed.

Along with take out boxes, disposible coffee cups are given to those who wish to buy drinks from the restaurant to go.

In addition to packaging, apparel, such as hats, and mugs will be available at Soet & Sout.
