The Spirit of the Lord is upon me…to preach deliverance to the captives…Luke 4:18 (KJV). Deliverance is not a procedure or set of grand words someone might perform/speak for you, but rather the free right of everyone submitted to the Lordship of Christ.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:32,34-36 (KJV). At Calvary, Christ settled the score with Satan and obtained freedom for all who choose to live submitted to His rule (Colossians 2:13-15; Galatians 5:1; 1 John 3:8). Christ’s life on Earth and death on the cross shed light on the works of the devil (John 10:10). If Christ did not come to Earth to die for our sins we would be unable to perceive a different life for ourselves and our families. If Christ did not destroy the works of the devil we would all continue to say, “That’s just the way I am” or “that’s how things will always be.”
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV). Deliverance is knowledge of God’s truth that enables individuals to live safely within God’s boundaries. Boundaries or fences mark areas that are safe and areas where danger exists. Boundaries are not designed to be restrictive but informative. Deliverance is knowledge of God’s truth that causes persons to make good choices for life. According to the Scriptures, deliverance can be learnt (Luke 4:18; John 8:32). The Scriptures also teach that Christ’s work at Calvary made provision for a person’s deliverance (John 8:36; Colossians 2:13-15; Galatians 5:1). Your decision to be free in Christ can very well open the door for a better life for you and your family members.

Why do people fall into bondage or oppression? 1. Idolatry & Inheritance. Consequences suffered due to the choices of family/ancestors (Exodus 20:4-6; Deuteronomy 5:7-10; Deuteronomy 28; John 9:3) 2. Sex outside of God’s boundaries (Genesis 2:24; Hebrews 13:4; Deuteronomy 27; 1 Corinthians 6:9,10,11) 3.
Involvement with Satanic activities
Steps to deliverance:
1. Identify that bondage and oppression is the result of someone’s sin (your’s or a family member) (Job 36:7,8).
2. A personal relationship with Christ is needed to overcome every bondage. Without Christ there is no hope (Matthew 28:18). It is the Holy Spirit on the instruction of Christ who enables this to work.
3. Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to help you identify the sin(s) causing the bondage or oppression. Ask Him to teach you why each sin is wrong (Job 36:9,10). Make a temporary list on paper of all sin(s).
4. Repent (say you are sorry for) and confess (agree with the Lord that you have sinned) each sin listed. Simply go down your list from 3.
5. Using the power of Christ instruct all demons that came into you through these sins to leave you now in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
6. Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to close the doorway for each named sin forever and to break any link between yourself and that sin forever. Stop participating in that sin(s) (Job 36:10; 1 John 5:18).
7. Ask Him to heal and repair any damage done to your spirit, soul, body, relationships and finances.
8. Carefully study the Bible to learn what pleases the Lord (Ephesians 5:10,11; Psalm 119:9-11). Saturate yourself in the teachings of the New Testament. This is necessary to continue to understand and enjoy your freedom in Christ.
Repentance followed by obedience to God’s Word precedes deliverance (Job 36:11). Failure to repent of sin leads to death and no learning taking place (Job 36:12). Ignoring God’s instructions (i.e. the Bible) or deliberately disobeying God’s way brings individuals under God’s judgment while prolonging the suffering of those in need of deliverance.
Why do people come under curses? 1. Idolatry & Inheritance 2. Involvement with the unclean/unholy
3. Violating God’s authority 4. Performing demonic rituals 5. Past actions causing victim(s) to place curse on perpetrator and his/her offspring e.g. person caught desecrating a site/stealing and soldiers on foreign soil 6. Other
A sin is different from a curse.
The only way to break the power of sin is to confess it to Christ and allow Him to wash it away with His blood (1 John 1:7,9). The only way to break a curse is to break it using the power of Christ.
Steps to breaking curses on your life: 1. Identify that bondage and oppression is the result of someone’s sin (your’s or a family member) (Job 36:7,8). 2. A personal relationship with Christ is needed to overcome every bondage. Without Christ there is no hope for deliverance from bondage (Matthew 28:18). 3. Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to reveal to you the sins of your forefathers/ancestors. Make a temporary list on paper of all sin(s). 4. Repent (say you are sorry for) and confess (agree with the Lord that you have sinned) each sin listed. Simply go down your list from 3. Being born into a specific family makes us a participant (however unwilling) in the sin(s) of those who went before. (Refer to the 3 groups of sins that applies here on slide #4).
5. Ask Christ to separate you from these sins/iniquities and break the link forever.
Steps to breaking curses on your life: 6. Renounce any dedication on your life to Satan/demons/prophets/organizations etc. State your commitment to life for the Lord Jesus Christ. 7. Using the power of Christ instruct all demons that came into you through these sins to leave you now in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. 8. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ take authority over the curse(s) of destruction and break it. 9. Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to close the doorway for each named sin forever. Stop participating in that sin(s) (Job 36:10; 1 John 5:18). 10. Ask to Lord to repair and completely heal your spirit, soul, body, relationships and finances of any damage done.
11. Carefully study the Bible to learn what pleases the Lord (Ephesians 5:10,11; Psalm 119:9-11). Saturate yourself in the teachings of the New Testament.
For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. 1 Thessalonians 4:7 (KJV). Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:22,23 (KJV).
