PASTOR FRANZ TO ATTEND A SEMINAR FOR INDIGENOUS PASTORS IN PUCALLPA PERU In November this year there will be a repeat seminar for pastors in Peru and surrounding areas. Many will travel great distances from the rainforest area to the headwaters of the Amazon River where the city of Pucallpa is located in eastern Peru. There is a need for biblical instruction and discussion for indigenous pastors who have not had the opportunity to receive formal training. The city of Pucallpa is in the eastern part of Peru and is linked by a paved road to the capital of Lima. It is very remote but is growing rapidly. Ecotourism has come to this city but their main activities are trading in the local fruits (bananas are a large part), vegetables, fish and domestic animals. This seminar will enhance teaching abilities for the scattered groups of believers. Pastor Franz speaks several languages and will be a great addition to the meeting. Pray for this adventure. About 120 will attend. Some will travel for up to a week by boat to get there. There are no roads from the Amazon River area. They will come from many different tribes. Pray that the Holy Spirit will ignite them with power to preach Jesus. There is a lot of sorcery and dark spiritual activity in this area. These indigenous preachers have constant opposition from those who promote evil. Intimidating magic and paranormal things are prolific. Pray that God will enable His followers to show signs and wonders through His holy power. The good spiritual activities do not have upsetting or dangerous occurrences following them. The people in the villages where these local pastors minister need to be able to see the power of God overcome evil and become a Comforter to them. Pastor Franz attended this seminar 2 years ago. In the future he would like to take portable equipment with him to have some basic dental and medical services provided. Pray with him about this opportunity.
CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS AT THE SCHOOL The wall and fencing is being worked on. It will provide a secure place for the planting area. This will also be a barrier to free roaming poultry and other animals that would find the vegetables much to their liking. Another adventure has begun. The next school year will be starting in February. Each year a new grade is being added which requires additional classroom space. This addition is for 2nd and 3rd grade classes, plus a principle’s office. The plan is to build on to the side of the existing building. Excavating for the foundation has begun. However, at this point the school does not have the financing to buy all the concrete and steel reinforcing rods yet. They are proceeding in faith that it will become available. Paraguay is not a steel producing country so the rebar must be imported at a very costly rate. The garden wall was just completed. It was decided to build it all out of masonry and concrete on this part of the compound instead of making part of it steel chain link fencing. Thanks to all who helped with the cost.
