Just one month after her 3rd birthday, Maya Radtke, daughter of Megan and Michael Radtke of Chaska, was diagnosed with B-cell Leukemia on March 20, 2025. What began as coughs and congestion in the Radtke home quickly became more alarming when Maya developed persistent fevers, extreme fatigue, and a pale complexion. A clinic check revealed dangerously low blood counts, sending the family straight to Children’s Hospital with overnight bags in hand.
Maya’s treatment began the next day with the first of many procedures under anesthesia: placing a port in her chest, a bone marrow biopsy, and her first spinal tap with chemotherapy. Tests showed that more than 75% of her blood was leukemia. Since day one of her 2.5-year treatment plan, Maya and her parents visit Children’s 1–3 times each week for a variety of chemotherapy, spinal taps, transfusions, blood checks, immunotherapy, and supportive care with PT, OT, speech, and nutrition. There are planned admissions for new medications and unexpected ER visits for fevers or complications that turned into hospital stays. In the first eight months of treatment, Maya’s little body has endured immense challenges. She lost her hair the week of Halloween but remains joyful: “I don’t have hair because I have Leukemia. It’s ok! It will grow back later!” Thankfully, Maya is responding well to treatment, and her family is profoundly grateful. If all goes as planned, Maya’s final day of treatment will be July 3, 2027. Living with childhood cancer is unpredictable, but Maya continues to teach everyone around her about resilience, gratitude, and love. Thank you for supporting her as she pushes through what will hopefully be her last 1.5 years toward healing.
Please help make a difference by helping the Radtke’s with rising costs. Thank you for supporting our Benefit.

The Dakota Trail got a pass from the Southwest Trails Association to make it smooth and safe for the weekend.
From the Editor Scott Wakefield

Boy has it been a great year for snowmobilers and clubs, and events put on by those clubs. Despite recent warm weather and rain dampening some enthusiasm, my overall experience with the aurora has been very positive and remains so. Events this year have seen an increase in attendees, and most riders have been in a positive mood which was helped by the early snowfall. Now let’s keep it going!
It isn’t for a lack of events, as we are in the “thick of it” as it relates to snowmobiling. If you’re willing to drive, there is snow, and rideable snow, so go and get it now! Continue to do your snow dance. Keep the club news coming and let me know what’s going on in your club. This year’s theme is “Tell Your Story”, so take the time to jot something down.
Hopefully you are getting your magazines on time. Again, as I explained in the last issue, certain things are out of our control. I subscribe to numerous magazines, and my antique tractor magazine has an ad in the latest issue titled “Blame It on the Mail!” They had a photo contest, and long after the contest was over, they continued to receive photos. When they investigated further, the date stamps of the photos were well within the time frame of the contest. So, if the postal service was actually on time, they would’ve gotten in. It’s unfortunate we are also having those same types of delays. Be patient, we will get you your magazine as soon as we can.
In this issue we cover the ISOC Race at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Club News and Events, What’s Cookin’?, Little-Known Facts, and Trivia. Next issue we will cover Rendezvous, Legislative Reception, and hopefully more Club News! Get those sleds registered, get out and ride. Now is the time to be in the “thick of it”.

Mike Clevenger
Hello again fellow snowmobilers!
I am hoping you have been able to enjoy our snow this year, even though the southern part of the state has been limited.
Your Executive Board has been working hard at preparing for the MnUSA Winter Rendezvous for this year along with many volunteers from all over the state. If it was not for these volunteers this event would have been very difficult to host. Our hosting location is SouthShores Hotel on the south shore of Lake Bemidji. The trails are ready for you to enjoy, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone at this year’s event. We will be having a VIP ride this year even though it was not on the registration form. Sign-up will be at the registration table when you pick up your registration packets.
The other upcoming event is our Legislative Reception on March 9th at Capital Ridge Event Center (formally the Kelly Inn) from 3-8 p.m. Please reach out to your legislators and invite them to this event. We also need YOU to be at this event. Let’s make an impact and talk to them face-to-face about our upcoming agenda and concerns in your area as well as around the state. To find your legislators, go to the MnUSA.org website and select “MnUSA” in the top header. Under the pull-down menu select “Legislation Info” and “Find My Legislator.” When you click on the state map a list of all your area legislators will populate on the screen. Click “Contact” next to their picture and the information will be at your fingertips. It is as simple as that! We are hoping for a great turnout this year, please make the time to attend and remember we have strength in numbers.
We are still working toward tax exemption for snowmobile trail and groomer materials. We have made progress on this but unfortunately it was not included in the final omnibus tax bill. As you know, this issue has been presented in the past but has not materialized yet. We will continue to push forward this legislative priority.
SFIA reduction is another area to watch. The Senate initially proposed a 30% reduction in Sustainable Forest Funding, but a compromise was reached. Luckily the compromise ended in only a 10% reduction.
Also being worked on is a winter license plate, preferably a snowmobile-related plate for MnUSA. Monies from the purchase of the license plate will help with our funding but it may take several years to pass, as we have seen other groups who have attempted this. Items like this help with protecting our funding for the Grant-In-Aid (GIA) program along with the fuel tax which helps fund this program. Registration also helps with funding GIA trails. If snowmobilers continue to not register their snowmobiles we will continue to see reduction in our trail funding. We, as a group, will be more influential in numbers than just the one voice from our lobbyist. Please make the time to attend this very important event.
Hoping to see you on the trails!

Well, what can I say? It’s February…where is our good snow? Like some, I have travelled to find snow. There is rideable snow in the three major states that get snow. My concern when we got early snow was no frost or very little frost in the ground. Michigan is feeling that pain more than we are, but the January thaw and rains have not been very friendly to those of us that want to ride in our own backyard. I rode 108 miles on New Year’s Day in Sherburne, Benton, Mille Lacs, and Isanti counties. After the thaw, I traveled to Brule, Wisconsin, where there was a 6- to 7-inch base and 5 to 6 inches of new snow. Riding is available, and I hope many of you are taking advantage of it.
MnUSA Winter Rendezvous is in just a few days, and I truly hope you are planning to attend with us. I’m looking forward to riding and visiting with many of you. I’ve previewed several auction items and am interested to see everyone’s reactions—they’re quite unique. Organizing this event requires commitment and careful planning, but it offers clubs, trail associations, or regions a valuable fundraising opportunity. We encourage these groups to take the lead on this fun event. The Executive Board is diligently preparing for the spring meeting, and we hope many of you can join us April 17-19 at the Wyndham Garden Otsego, MN. Bring the family, as there is a waterpark, and discounted waterpark passes are available at the registration desk for MnUSA members.
Don’t ask, and I won’t tell… the raffle calendar drawing was held on January 3rd and is done for this year. Check the monthly winner announcements to find out if you’ve won. In April I will be sending out an email to all clubs/members that have been involved the two past years to ask how many you may want to sell next year, so that we order enough to get all the clubs that want
to be involved. Apologies to the clubs that wanted to sell and did not receive calendars due to them all being distributed by the end of September this year. Calendars should be available for distribution August 1st this next year. There are 253 clubs in MnUSA currently and only 64 clubs sold calendars. This is an opportunity to raise money for your club. I truly feel we could make this a much larger program than we have in the past by working together to raise money for the clubs and/ or regions in MnUSA. The more calendars we sell the more money there is to donate back. It is that simple.
Well, we are 2 1/2 months into our riding season, and I hope all is going well for your clubs and trail associations. We just had the first Midwest Ride-In at the newest location, Dehns Pumpkin Patch in Dayton. I’m sure in the March issue we will see a recap from that event.
With that said, be safe out there and thanks for all you do for this great sport of snowmobiling in Minnesota. See you on the trails and Happy Valentine’s to all.

As winter sports enthusiasts, we eagerly await the snowy season for the adrenaline rush of snowmobiling. The feeling of the cold air rushing past, the sight of the unspoiled white landscapes—it’s a winter wonderland waiting to be discovered. Amidst the excitement and adventure, it’s essential to ensure that you’re properly protected with snowmobile insurance. Here are a few reasons why snowmobile insurance is a wise decision.
The most signi cant bene t of snowmobile insurance is the peace of mind it brings. Knowing that you’re covered in case of unexpected events allows you to fully immerse yourself in the winter experience. Focus on the breathtaking landscapes and the adrenaline rush of riding, without the nagging worry of potential nancial setbacks.
Your snowmobile is a valuable investment that deserves protection. With comprehensive and collision coverage, you can rest easy knowing that repair or replacement costs will be covered in the event of certain damage, theft, or accidents. Keep your ride in top condition without breaking the bank.
Be prepared for the unexpected Accidents can happen, even to the most experienced riders. Snowmobile insurance offers liability coverage, protecting you from the nancial implications of thirdparty injuries or property damage, up to speci ed limits. You can relax and have fun in your winter activities, whether riding on trails or exploring the backcountry, when you have the right protection.
Homeowners insurance may provide some coverage for your snowmobile, but it often has limitations and can have a more costly deductible. A dedicated snowmobile insurance policy ensures that you’re adequately covered speci c to your needs.
Policies can provide off-premises and permissive use, allowing you to con dently have friends and family drive your snowmobile occasionally. You also have the option to add minor operators as drivers, so you can rest easy knowing that you have the right protection if something goes wrong.
Since no two snowmobilers are alike, snowmobile insurance lets you choose your own coverage options. You can customize your policy to include things like accessory and custom parts/equipment coverage to provide protection if you’ve made enhancements or upgrades to your snowmobile. This way, you can be sure that your insurance plan matches your speci c needs.
Obtaining insurance coverage for your snowmobile is often a requirement from lenders if you have nanced its purchase. Not only does snowmobile insurance ful ll this obligation, but it also provides peace of mind by safeguarding your nancial interests.
Have fun in the winter with con dence, knowing that you have the proper coverage for your situation. Invest in snowmobile insurance and ensure that your thrilling escapades remain just that—thrilling, safe, and unforgettable. Let the snow-covered landscapes be your playground, and let insurance be your safety net.

Over my past 18 years at the Minnesota State Capital, I’ve been given some great advice by a very senior lobbyist. The first piece of advice I want to share is simply “you can’t do your job unless you are there.” Now that advice was given before committees ended at midnight, but it still applies every bit as much now. And this doesn’t just work for lobbyists, but citizens and advocates who want to have their voices heard as well.
The second trick is more difficult but also more beneficial because you must eat some humble pie and “practice making your opponent’s argument for them,” and better than them. Once you have a fuller view of both sides of the issue, you can make the best argument and find the best resolution.

election includes the Minnesota House, Senate, and Governorship, as well as our U.S. House members, and at least one Senate seat. Governor Walz has announced he will not seek a third term, and the Capitol gossip is that Senator Amy Klobuchar will run for Governor. As of now, 16 state legislators are not seeking reelection with 5 House members seeking Senate seats, and 11 running for a different office.
For this coming legislative session, the House will remain tied with each committee split providing each Chair 50% committee time. The Democrats will remain to have a one vote majority in the Senate. Here is a list of our legislative priorities:
• Protect funds and educate new legislators of the way our program works
• Continue to advocate for the trail maintenance material tax exemption
• Move our automobile License Plate bill forward
• Monitor and follow new and old bills which may impact MnUSA
The upcoming Minnesota legislative session begins February 17th and ends May 18th. In those four months there is little if anything that must be passed into law. November’s

All this makes for a steep hill for us to climb this session, but as we all know, if there is snow, we can do it! The first and best way to do this is to attend our Legislative reception and let your legislators know you will be coming!
MnUSA Legislative Reception Monday March 9th, 2026 4:30 – 7:30 P.M.
Capitol Ridge Event Center (Former Kelly Inn) 161 St. Anthony Avenue, Saint Paul, Minnesota
Attending the reception and showing your House Representative and Senator that snowmobiling is an important part of your club and community, is crucial to their understanding and prioritization of our agenda. Simply being there for the conversation with your legislator has the most impact. When we talk to our legislators, don’t shy away from hard issues like snow consistency or trail retention. Or, as always, send out a personal invite to your legislator especially if they’re not your first choice! This is how we move forward as an organization of all “members are lobbyists” and achieve a successful session in 2026! Can’t wait to see you in St. Paul!
The following members have paid an extra fee to protect our trails!

The tradition of collecting toys for Toys for Tots in Region 8 has gone on for many years, and many of the Region 8 clubs have been very generous in their support over the years. This year was much the same, as we collected $2,740 in cash donations which the Marines can use to purchase toys at an 8 to 1 ratio. For every dollar donated, the Marines can generate eight times that dollar in toys through their many vendors, offering noncurrent, “blems,” and retail toys. Cash is definitely king as it relates to Toys for Tots.
In addition, the Region 8 clubs donated 1,256 toys through Christmas parties, landowner appreciation events, trail openers and the like. Thank you, Region 8 clubs, for your continued support!

Air Force Snocross National presented by T-Fiber Canterbury Park – Shakopee, MN
Great weather and warm winds greeted those of us on Thursday who were setting up for a weekend of anticipated fun and exciting racing Friday through Saturday night under the lights. Big shout-out to Steve Blake from the Prior Lake Snowmobile Association for helping set up; bend your knees, Steve.
On Friday, much excitement was in the air, as the track was in meticulous condition, with readily available snow for the track and surrounding areas. New this year, Polaris had an area called the 120 “Try Me”

Track for those who had never been on a snowmobile before. Individuals could participate in a small area with a guided snowmobile ride. After a quick safety presentation and a detailed explanation on how a snowmobile worked, you were on your way. This was in addition to the Coloring Area for kids and families, and an autograph area for those attendees wanting to see their heroes upfront and personal. As always, you had the option of being inside the heated seating area or outside in the action, noise, smells, and sounds.

Friday had qualifying races for the many classes ISOC has available to racers. Classes range from 120 Champ for the little guys and gals ages 6-12, Rox Stock 200, Speedwerx Transition 8-10, Anderson’s Maple Syrup Transition 9-13, Lakeland Powersports Junior Girls 9-13, Arctic FX Junior 10-13, and Specialty Box and Crate Junior 14-15 for all the young up-and-comers to the sport. There was a great following by proud parents and even more proud grandparents; so fun to watch.
Next up is the more grown-up crowd, but not more serious as those kids know how to light it up. But the next step starts with the Flextoy Powersports Rentals
Sport Lite Class for teens on 600 cc sleds. Sport Class is next, followed by the Thomas Sno Sports Pro Am Plus 30 Class for those veteran racers wanting not to “age out” and continue to compete. This is a great class for the 600 cc sleds and all us wannabes.
The Bikeman Performance Pro Am Women Class features the best female riders on 600 cc stock sleds. And the last two are the Pro Lite Class, which is the steppingstone to the Pro Class, using 600 cc sled also used in the Pro Class.
And finally, the Amsoil Pro Class. This class features the world’s greatest snocross racers and premier athletes riding under basically stock 600 cc sleds, albeit modifications to suspension, clutching and exhaust are allowed.
Along with great food options, ample free parking and non-stop action, Friday tends to be a lot of fun. The second floor of the arena houses multiple snowmobile vendors from Amsoil to FXR Clothing, to the Hunter Houle Memorial Foundation, just to name a few. Thanks to Karen Peterson, Tom McMahon, Scott Trumpei, Don Wineland, Derek Stender, and Steve Blake for help on Friday, and for working the booth so I could get out behind the tent.

As we get to Saturday, we have now worked our way through the qualifying rounds, and now it’s serious. Thanks to my Saturday crew—Don Wineland, Larry Shepard, Steve Blake—and special thanks to Bob Lano and Jerry Hanson for helping to take down the booth and haul it to my truck. The vibe on Saturday right from the start of the day was ecstatic. There were tons of people, a certain buzz in the air, and the racing was amped up. The Pro racers have names that should ring a bell like Kody Kamm, Anson Scheele, Emil Harr, Ryley Bester, Daniel Benham, Hunter Patenaude, and Evan Daudt.
On the women’s side you had names like Brynna Hauck, Malene Cottew, Mady Anderson, Makenna Kleiman, Ava McCurdy, Courtney Moras, Elanor Schmidt, Ana Wenzloff, and my favorite Avery Hemmer 14-year-old from Nowthen, MN, what a great weekend she had!

Coming into the weekend the Pro Points leaders were Daniel Benham on a Cat (69 points), followed by Gustav Sahlsten on a Doo (68 points). By weekend’s end, Daniel Benham not only held on to his lead but added to it by winning first place on his Arctic Cat. He was followed by: Jordon Lebel on a Ski-Doo, Ryley Bester on a Polaris, Gustav Sahlsten on a Ski-Doo, Kody Kamm on a Polaris, Jacob Yurk on a Cat, and rounding out the Pro Final under the lights Saturday night was Emil Harr on a Polaris.
What a great weekend for snowmobiling with great opportunities to meet some new faces at the booth and reminisce with some familiar faces. Thanks to everyone who stopped by. Don’t forget to send in those membership forms! We ran out of corridor maps late on Saturday, along with stickers, and the like. A big thank you for all the support offered and for giving us a big thumbs up for all that we do. Lastly, thanks to all the MnUSA club members who stopped by to chat and offer support and give us an update on trails and what’s been going on in their region of the state.

There are over 2,000 snowmobile clubs across the United States. Those clubs care for the over 100,000 miles of snowmobile trails. Every one of those clubs is made up of volunteers, from the leadership to the membership…all volunteers!
Without those dedicated and passionate snowmobile volunteers, there would be no trails.

No trails = No riding! No trails = No sales!
No sales of snowmobiles and accessories. No sales at gas stations. No sales at restaurants. No sales at hotels and motels.
Most of those businesses rely on snowmobile business to get through the cold and snowy season. Most of those businesses employ local residents in rural America.
The thousands of snowmobile volunteers are very important to rural America—and snowmobiling is very important to rural America!
This winter many clubs have faced one challenge after another, one storm after another. Snowmobilers count on those clubs and volunteers to clean up the blowdowns, fix the bridges, place the signs, work with the landowners/land managers and the never-ending fundraising—all before a groomer hits the trail.

The volunteers are appreciated by the majority of riders. Unfortunately, there are riders who have no idea of the work, organization, money and hours that are required.
The age-old question still lingers…how do we reach the non-club members?
Who knows, with social media and word of mouth, and a bit of common sense, it shouldn’t be that hard for them to recognize and understand. Maybe it’s not understanding after all but not wanting to understand. Understanding would require a show of appreciation, a simple thank you or dropping a dollar into the jar at the gas station.
There will always be a percentage of riders out there that pretend not to understand. Thankfully they are not the majority!
Thankfully the snowmobile clubs, the members, and the majority of riders recognize and appreciate all the work that goes into maintaining the 100,000+ miles of trails.
Kudos to the snowmobile clubs and volunteers! Thank you for all you do! Each and every one of you is appreciated!

What a great venue for a Vintage Show! Preston Lee, in cooperation with ISOC, has created a great little vintage show as part of the bigger ISOC racing event. It is called the Sled Showcase, and sitting by itself in the Expo Arena area of Canterbury Downs, attendees at the races do have to find it by going outside the races and coming back in.
Despite that little nuance, the show is spectacular. Tom Ische had some of his best Arctic Cat race sleds in attendance, and they are showstoppers. In addition to some very nice “Racing to the ‘90s” sleds, Flynn Elder, made sure to bring back his nice 1975 SnoJet Thunderjet 440, with its 1973 Snojet Thunderjet 295. It was just as I remembered…watching them race around the Alexandria track while sipping on hot Dr.
Pepper and seeing those beautiful blue machines just rip it up and cruise past the competition. Truly a walk back in time for some of us old guys.

There was an excellent turnout, besides the venue being booked the night before. Thanks for bringing out some of the history of racing and of the sleds that made it.

An early December drive to the little town of Cologne, MN brought huge surprises upon pulling up to the 212 Tavern right on the tracks in downtown Cologne. As part of the bigger community celebration called Christmas in Cologne, this little vintage show has grown over the years, and this year didn’t disappoint.

I got there a little early and helped get the miniature donkeys in place for the kids to pet, as part of a petting zoo event adjacent to the vintage show. It was such a wonderful day for a vintage show!
As you can see, a nice set of ‘90s Polaris sleds showed up, and a nice, restored Mallard Sno-Wing made an impressive display even more impressive. Brad Mlynar had a nice pair of Polaris sleds there also that really made the show shine!

Great job guys for really making Cologne stand out as a great little vintage snowmobile show, close to home for me. Can’t wait till next year!

What a great evening at the Liberty Legion in downtown St. Michael, MN, as the Foxtailers held their annual Trail Opener Event. Outside, the snow was falling, while inside, snowmobilers were enjoying great food, great music, and great silent auction items to be bid on, donated by great dealers and vendors. The 50-50 raffle was won by none other than our own MnUSA Vice President Scotty Harder, who immediately donated some of the cash back to the club. Nice job Scotty!
In attendance was Marilyn Hochstedler who was the third treasurer of the Foxtailers snowmobile club back in 1971. As she approached the stage, she was asked what her first experiences were like “back in the day.”

Marilyn responded that after a few meetings she was wondering what the heck she got herself into! Her response was hilarious and created much laughter throughout the Legion, as I’m sure everyone could relate to that feeling! A great rest of the evening was had by all—always a packed house and a super fun event.

The Carver County Snowrunners held their annual Christmas party at the Hollywood Sports Complex in Hollywood, MN. As part of the festivities, a “true” white elephant gift exchange was held. True, meaning you bring something that you have not purchased, or have not recently purchased for the purpose of the exchange. This makes for some very memorable “gifts” being exchanged. A half-used bag of Depend undergarments was the hit of the evening, along with some used dish towels.
Fun was had by all, including a Toys for Tots gift drop, which overflowed the box, as well as gifts of cash. The Snowrunners club has always been very giving as an organization throughout its 36 years of existence.

To round out the evening, after a spectacular meal catered by Hollywood Catering, MnUSA calendar sales took place, and some good fellowship was had by all.
The Delano Snowstormers held their annual silent auction, fundraiser, and raffle party the first weekend in December, and it was again a packed Delano American Legion 377 in downtown Delano. In addition to the great donated items to bid on was a drawing for a wonderful looking 2025 Polaris Ranger Crew Cab Ultimate Northstar Edition, and one of fifty $100 cash prizes. The winner of the Ranger was Marc Jasper of Phoenix, Arizona! What a great fundraiser and a great way to kick off the season. Many a happy face left the event with great buys on silent auction items. Way to go Snowstormers!

On Friday, December 5, the Covered Bridge Riders Snowmobile Club of Zumbrota celebrated a remarkable milestone—its 50th anniversary. Members, friends, and supporters gathered at the clubhouse on Jefferson Drive to enjoy some excellent food and honor five decades of camaraderie, trail stewardship, and dedication to the sport of snowmobiling.
The club’s roots trace back to 1975, shortly after the White Nights Snowmobile Club of Zumbrota disbanded. Local enthusiast Larry Touvey placed an ad in the newspaper inviting anyone interested in forming a new club to meet at Zumbrota City Hall. That first meeting
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
3 very ripe bananas, mashed
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
drew eight to ten people, and soon the Covered Bridge Riders were officially organized with Lloyd Roble as president and Larry as secretary/treasurer. In those early years, activities included Sunday outings with family, hot dog roasts, and exploring scenic trails. Over time, the club became a driving force in creating safer, bettermarked trails and promoting responsible riding. Two founding members, Bob Quast and Chuck Rohe, remain active after 50 years, continuing to prepare trails and support the club they helped establish.

1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and lightly floured two 5x 9 baking pans. Beat the granulated sugar, oil, eggs and bananas together. In another bowl, measure flour, baking soda and baking powder, and salt; mix together. Add to sugar mixture and mix gently but blend well. Add milk and nuts and mix well. Pour into baking pans and bake for 55 to 60 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean in center of loaves.
Donna
Zwiefel Leech Lake Riders - Region 1
By 1977, the club joined the DNR’s Grant-in-Aid program through the Goodhue County Snowmobile Trails Association, which helped fund trail development and grooming. Today, the Covered Bridge Riders maintain 65 miles of trail and operate a modern Tucker Sno-Cat for grooming—a far cry from the club’s first groomers, two old Polaris Chargers purchased for $175. Member Don Redding even built the first grooming drags that were pulled behind the machines from scrap angle iron. Nearly the entire trail system crosses private land, and the club extends its deepest gratitude to the landowners who make snowmobiling possible in Goodhue County. Their generosity ensures riders can enjoy safe, scenic routes all winter long.
Something unique to the Covered Bridge Riders club is that they own their own clubhouse to store equipment and tools and hold their monthly meetings. In the early years of the club, meetings were held in the Fireside Room at the Zumbrota Liquor Store, drawing 25 to 30 members each month. When that space was converted into a pool room, the club moved to the Izaak Walton clubhouse, then briefly to the bank basement. Finally, a major turning point for the club came when Lyle and Carolyn Bartlett offered to sell the club its current property and building. This move gave the Covered Bridge Riders a permanent home and continues to be the cornerstone of the club, providing a solid foundation for growth.

As the Covered Bridge Riders celebrate 50 years, they remain committed to their mission: promoting safe snowmobiling, maintaining trails, and fostering community. The club is proud of its history and excited for the future. Snowmobiling brings people together and makes Minnesota winters something to look forward to.
With about 85 members, the club welcomes everyone, from active members to those who simply want to support the sport. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month (except June–August) at the clubhouse, and new members are always invited.
Story by Brandon Lunde, President

La Crescent Snowmobile Club had their annual “Groomer Fun Night” on December 13th. The clubhouse was decked out in Christmas decorations, and the food was hot and ready for everyone! Many games were played and everyone seemed to have a great time. This has been a fun way for the club to kick off the winter season for many years. Last year, everyone put up with freezing rain; just cold this year with the temp hovering around 0 degrees. Like many of the clubs in the area, they are patiently waiting for deer season to end. Hope to see everyone on the trails soon!

Snowmobile Safety Training was held in Clearwater County by the local Sheriff’s office on December 20th. It was held at the Clearbrook/ Gonvick School with students doing classroom and outdoor testing on a cold windy morning. The Clearwater Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club held a drawing for five $200 gift cards towards a purchase of a helmet. Also, kids had the opportunity to sign up for a free 1-year membership to the Clearwater Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club. Fourteen families signed up for the free membership.
Winners of the gift cards towards a helmet were: Kolby Sweno, Rhett Wilcox, Lacy Kent, Micah Uhlir, Jordi Cloose Congratulations. We hope all the kids enjoy our trails and get out and ride.

Clearwater Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club hosted a Corn Hole Tournament on November 1st. There were seven teams with each receiving a t-shirt for signing up. Three new memberships were received. Everyone enjoyed BBQ, beans, and chips for a light lunch.
First place winners were Bryan Dyrdahl & Grace Nyland; second place winners were Paul & Gail Friborg. Winners each received a hooded sweatshirt.
