THE TECHNOLOGY

Plasma Blue’s technology replaces traditional transesterification reactors. The technology uses electricity to excite the molecules as they pass through the reactor, which results in improved intimate contact between the molecules. Plasma Blue’s technology drives the reaction further than a traditional reactor.

While the reactor is small in stature, it has the concentrated power of a lightning bolt. The power is delivered in a very controlled application. So while temperature at the point of reaction can reach thousands of degrees, the reactor only raises by 40° F. The exchange of energy into the process stream is greatly increased by the formation of free radicals. These radicals persist for a short while after the initial pass through the reactor, completing the intended reaction with no additional heat or pressure.

The Plasma Blue system is designed to be safe and integrates well into existing industry standard process safety programs. The entire system operates at low temperature and low pressure using typical electrical service and connections, and is designed with several redundant safety systems and can be easily integrated into the PLC systems.

SEAMLESS

Plasma Blue’s technology has a small footprint and a modular design. The technology can be installed and operated seamlessly alongside the current equipment. Its “plug and play design” requires minimal installation time, minimal start up, fine tuning and minimal operating cost.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

This technology lowers a plant’s energy cost while enhancing the Carbon Intensity (CI) score. This is primarily due to the technology’s use of electricity instead of natural gas. It eliminates the need for pre-heating the reaction steam. Because it drives reactions more completely, it requires little to no expensive petroleum-based catalyst.

PROFITABLE

With Plasma Blue technology, plant owners could save approximately 10 cents per gallon by reducing dependence on natural gas, reducing catalyst cost and reducing labor issues.

Because it can increase the overall plant efficiency and improve finished product quality, high value can be received for finished products.

NEW MARKETS

DOWN STREAM PROCESSING

The Plasma Blue reactor has also shown the ability to reduce the cost of purifying waste water streams. By effectively creating ozone directly in water, the reaction can reduce or eliminate bacteria, algae and viruses without the need of added chemicals.

Plasma Blue technology has the potential to enhance a plant’s overall carbon score. Depending on available incentives, this can be worth from 2 to 35 cents per gallon of biodiesel, netting a 30-million gallon plant $4.5 million annually depending on feed stocks and carbon market regulations.

Plasma Blue technology can be installed within 48 hours, allowing for minimal plant down time.

Depending on feedstock used, Plasma Blue has proven this technology can create industrial methyl esters. On average, industrial methyl esters can sell for 33 percent premium over ASTM biodiesel.

For certain conditions, Plasma Blue technology can save plants nearly $100,000 per year by re-processing out-of-spec biodiesel.

For a 50-million gallon ethanol plant, creating biodiesel using your own corn oil and ethanol could create an additional $600,000 in revenue each year.
