The Reedy Gallery at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

ARTIST STATEMENT:

“A Reflection on Being” stems from my spiritual practice of Animism. This body of work is the product of my meditation and meaning making of humanity and our interconnectedness with nature, breath, spirit, and life. The serenity, vastness, and beauty of Midwest Landscapes cultivates my spiritual ecology, my reflection on our earth stewardship, and how we interact with our surroundings and with one another.

Teo Nguyen: A Reflection on Being Teo’s Arboretum exhibition brings his stunning large-scale photorealistic paintings into the Reedy Gallery, allowing viewers to interact with natural beauty in an intimate setting. His works, some directly taken from the Arboretum landscape, capture the beauty and spirit of our natural world. His facility with paint reveals his subject in a wholly new way. He has a reverence for the land and states, “if I wasn’t an artist, I’d be a gardener.”

Teo’s works can be found in permanent and corporate collections, including Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Walker Art Center and the Weisman Art Museum.
