BlackCountry Impact hasalready helped over 5,000 peopleaged16to 29-year-oldprogress into employment,education or gain aqualification,and the figure continues to rise.

Sincethe launch of BlackCountryImpactin2016,ithas assisted justover 14,000 young adults.Providing employment advice,support andopportunitiestohelpthemget offtoa flying starttowards employment

BlackCountry Impact helps young adults whoare long term unemployed,peoplewho areinactive andcould benefitfromeducation, gainingnew skillsand qualifications. BlackCountry Impact also supports people wholive in asingle parent householdwithdependent children,and thoselooking to take theirnextsteps afterleaving school or college. In fact,Black Country Impact helpsanyoneagedbetween 16 and29yearsold whoisnot in education, employment or training andlives in theBlack Country.

Theservice hasalongtrack record of forgingclose links with many localbusinessesand training providers. As result,itcan boast that it hasalready helped thousandsoflocal people towardstheir goal of employment or gaininglifelong skills andtrades

Theservice is uniquely placed to provide awiderange of help to young adults, overcoming barriers to employment by providinga tailored programme. Aprogramme that is designed to help theindividual buildafutureina waythat suitstheir circumstances.

BlackCountry Impact providesa keyworker, or amentor, to support theyoung adultthrough theirjourneytowards employment andskills, providingadviceand guidance Supportcan also includehelpwith travel, childcare, andequipmentmaking it simple to startajob or training.

Thesupport provided by Black CountryImpactisbespoke to the individual andassuchcan help with overcoming awiderange of barriers, includingthose faced by people with disabilities,ex-offendersand thehomeless

This projectisreceiving up to £38.72 million of fundingmadeup of £19.36 million European Social Fund and£19.36 millionYouth Employment Initiative,plusmatch fundingofupto£19.36mfromthe National LotteryCommunity Fund andfunding from partners,ensuringpeopleacrossthe region geta boosttowards jobs.

Kian’s story: Gainingskillsand employment

Kian (picturedtop centre)start- ed acareerinwarehousing.Since finishingsecondary school Kian hadnot been in education, employment or trainingand hadbeenapplying forpaidopportunitieswithoutsuccess.However,Kiandid have an interest in pursuing acareerin warehousing.

BlackCountry Impact helped Kian gain relevant trainingin warehousing andhequickly gained an interviewand worktrial which ledtoanoffer of employment,which he took Kian,aBlackCountry Impact participant, said:“It’s been absolutely amazing.”

Simran’s story: Taking steps towardsadesiredcareer

Simran (picturedabove right) took stepstowards employment

Simran wanted to exploreacareer working in themedia butwas struggling to find employment.

As aresult, herconfidencehad beenaffected by constantly applyingfor workand beingunsuccessful.

BlackCountry Impact helped Simran exploreoptions within the region’s mediasector, anddiscussed thetypeofjobsand trainingthat shecould tryuntil shecould find employment that matchedher as- pirations. Simran decidedworkexperience in mediaand volunteering, or an apprenticeship,would enable hertogainthe required experience to gether career offtoa start.

BlackCountry Impact helped Simran to attend mediatraining, gain interviewexperience andalso supportedher to applyfor various roles, includingcustomerservices, hospitalityand catering,asshe was eager to earn herown moneyand be independent.

Simran attended threeinterviewsand wasoffered twoposts Simran wasimpressed with the supportthatshe received from BlackCountry Impact andencourages anyone whoiswithinthe age group16to29, andnot in education,employmentortraining, to contactBlack CountryImpact.
