Work experience is avital introduction to theworld of workfor students, and hasmanybenefits.
Thereare lotsofdifferent ways of obtainingworkexperience. Your school or collegemay have links with employersand be able to putyou in touchwithpeoplewho canhelpadvise you on your application.
Many well-knownlarge businesses operatetheir ownworkexperience programmes.Itcan be agoodideato speaktothe managerorowner,either in person or by phone,beforemakinga formal application.
Don’tlet thefactthata business does notadvertise workexperience opportunitiesput you offfromasking if they will take you on.Ifyou areinterested in what abusiness does,itis worth contacting them to seeifthey wouldoffer you workexperience. Anotherway to gain valuable,real lifeexperienceisthrough volunteering. Helpingothersisnot just hugely satisfying,itcan also help you to make friendsand learnnew skills.
If yougotocollege or university, you maybeableto fittimefor volunteering around yourstudies or job. Opportunities caninclude activities such as befriending, helpingatevents, fundrais- ing, conservationactivities, providing supporttochildren andolderpeople.
