EDITOR’S LETTER – SPRING 2026
BY MARCIA M SPENCE, EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, MBCC ASPIRE MAGAZINE
Welcome to Issue 4 of ASPIRE Magazine and our first issue of 2026.

As we step into a new year, it feels both fitting and powerful to pause and reflect on what has been an extraordinary journey. 2025 was a pivotal year for the MBCC Awards, a year defined by growth, excellence, and impact. The team behind the awards, led with unwavering vision by Zoe Bennett BEM, truly excelled, raising the bar once again for how we recognise and celebrate unsung heroes across business and community.
I am incredibly proud to share that over the past 12 months, the readership of ASPIRE Magazine has doubled. This growth tells us something important: stories of purpose, resilience, and leadership matter. You, our readers, want to see real people, real impact, and real inspiration, and that is exactly what ASPIRE exists to deliver.
2025 also marked the launch of the Inspirational Voices Legacy Book, capturing the powerful stories of our MBCC winners. This collection stands as a lasting testament to courage, service, and leadership, and I’m delighted to share that it will soon be available on Amazon, allowing these voices to reach even further.
At the MBCC Awards on 29 November 2025, the ASPIRE team brought these stories to life through exclusive interviews from the ASPIRE Couch, speaking with sponsors, celebrities, and finalists alike. We were honoured to feature conversations with remarkable individuals, including Rudolph Walker CBE, Errol Reid, and Adrian Lester CBE, among many others who so generously shared their time and insight.
This issue is especially significant. We proudly honour and celebrate the visionary founder of the MBCC Awards, Zoe Bennett, BEM, as she reaches her milestone 50th birthday, alongside the 10th anniversary of the MBCC Awards. It is a moment of reflection, gratitude, and celebration of a decade dedicated to lifting others.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all finalists and winners. Your work continues to inspire, challenge, and change lives.
For this special issue, I have made a conscious editorial choice to use more photographs and fewer words, allowing this edition to stand as a visual collector’s piece - a snapshot of excellence, legacy, and impact.
Thank you for being part of the ASPIRE community. Here’s to another year of vision, voices, and visibility.

THE UNBREAKABLE FORCE: Celebrating Zoe Bennett, BEM at 50
Born and raised in Preston, Lancashire, and now based in Birmingham, Zoe Bennett has never forgotten where she came from, or who helped shape her. As she turns 50, her story stands as one of resilience, leadership, and purpose forged through adversity.
In December 2011, Zoe’s world shattered. Heavily pregnant with her second child, she learned through a Facebook post that her father, Errol Bennett, had been brutally murdered in Jamaica. Errol was more than a father; he was a community builder who ran grassroots initiatives from the family front room in Preston. Long before financial literacy became mainstream, he taught Zoe how to invest, build, and believe. By 21, she owned her own home and carried his lessons forward.

Grief quickly turned into resolve. When told the justice system would not work for her, Zoe responded with a simple challenge: “Watch me.” Over three relentless years, she fought internationally for accountability. Her father’s killer (his own nephew) was sentenced to 40 years. Still, Zoe pushed further, securing a UK inquest so her father’s life would be formally recognised.
Standing in a Preston courtroom, she spoke words that would define her next chapter:
“This isn’t just bureaucracy. It’s dignity. It’s acknowledgement. It’s justice.”

That moment sparked a realisation. Her fight was not just for her father, but for every unsung hero whose contributions go unseen. From that fire, the MBCC Awards were born.

Launched in 2016, MBCC’s now the
Multicultural Business & Community Champions Awards.
It was never about glamour. It was about rewriting who we celebrate and why. Nurses, carers, mentors, grassroots leaders: people who quietly change lives. One award recipient summed it up perfectly:
“No one has ever said thank you before.”

What began as a grassroots initiative has grown into a national movement. Supported by figures such as Baroness Floella Benjamin and endorsed by cultural icons including Sir Trevor McDonald, Rudolph Walker CBE, Sir Lenny Henry, MBCC is now backed by major organisations like Amazon, Hammonds, and Deloitte.

Alongside MBCC, Zoe founded Training Personified, delivering confidence, employability, and personal development programmes across the UK for organisations including the NHS, DWP, and Lloyds Bank. Thousands have rebuilt belief, skills, and opportunity through her work.

In 2023, Zoe was awarded the British Empire Medal for Charity and for inspiring disadvantaged people. Standing in Buckingham Palace, she carried every chapter of her journey with her.
Now, at 50, Zoe Bennett is a wife, mother of three, businesswoman, speaker, and unapologetic force for social change. MBCC remains her promise to the world: that greatness will never again go unseen.
Zoe Bennett, BEM, is The Unbreakable Force. AND SHE’S STILL ON FIRE.

EARLY NURTURE PRESCHOOL WHERE INCLUSION LEADS THE WAY
When Shabnum Bi, a single mother to one son, founded Early Nurture Preschool in December 2022, she wasn’t just opening another early years setting she was redefining what early education could look like. Based in the West Midlands, the preschool was born from a clear and powerful vision: to create a space where children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, regardless of background or ability.
Drawing on years of experience across educational settings, Shabnum recognised a gap in early intervention and inclusive support, particularly for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Early Nurture Preschool was her answer a nurturing, child-centred environment built on personalised learning and genuine care.
The journey was far from easy. From navigating regulatory requirements to building trust within the community, Shabnum faced significant challenges. Yet her determination paid off. By 2025, Early Nurture Preschool had gained both local and international recognition for its innovative, holistic approach to early years education.
Parents speak of children who have blossomed with confidence and joy, supported by tailored learning plans and a strong focus on well-being. In November 2025, Shabnum’s impact was further recognised when she was named Entrepreneur of the Year.
Today, Early Nurture Preschool stands as a beacon of inclusive education proof that when children are truly understood, they can flourish beyond expectations.
