Gwydion needed all the courage he could muster. The Romans were approaching the ancient city of Camulodunum. Could they be stopped?
A story of loyalty, friendship, and tragedy as the Celtic tribes under the leadership of Caratacus face the full might of the legions.
‘Legions of the Eagle’ is a captivating historical novel that delves into the life of a young boy during the Roman conquest of Britain under the reign of Claudius.

Henry Treece was a British poet and writer who also worked as a teacher and editor. He wrote a range of works but is mostly remembered as a writer of children’s historical novels.
His best known are his juvenile historical novels, particularly those set in the Viking Age although he also wrote some adult historical novels. Many of his novels are set in transitional periods in history, where more primitive societies are forced to face modernisation, e.g. the end of the Viking period, or the Roman conquest of Britain.
‘Henry Treece has the rare gift of writing about the ancient world as if he were native to it.’
