RODEO NEWS
The Mount Morgan Rodeo Assoc. Inc (MMRAI) team have recently been busy crafting pots for their upcoming cent sale. All proceeds from (PLASTIC BOTTOM) pots have gone to the not-for-profit group to help fundraise for their 2020 events. MMRAI is kicking of its first event off on Saturday, 29 August, at the School of Arts Hall in Mount Morgan at 1 pm. The doors will open at 12 noon. Tickets are 50c each, Multidraw and Raffle tickets are $1 each. After such a long COVID break, we are hoping that everyone will enjoy a day out to win some fantastic prizes. If anyone would like to place an order for unique cement pots, please phone Marie and Carol on 0401 133 097 to place your orders. MMRAI’s first Rodeo for the year is locked in for 26 September and we are also very excited to announce that for the first time ever, we are bringing a second Rodeo to Mount Morgan on 7 November 2020. The Rodeo Team is affiliating with the National Ingredients: 1 Orange 3 sprigs thyme 100ml Orange juice 150g brown sugar 6 whole cloves 3 cinnamon stick 5 cardamom pods 5 star anise 700ml bottle of fruity red wine (Merlo, Shiraz) 200ml Orange liqueur (triple sec, Cointreau etc) Method:
1. Slice the orange into discs and place in a large over a medium heat.
2.
3.
4.
5. Add the, orange juice, cloves, cinnamon and cardamom then stir to combine.
Let this simmer until the sugar has completely dissolved into the orange juice, then bring to the boil. Keep on a rolling boil for about 4 to 5 minutes, or until you’ve got a beautiful thick syrup. When your syrup is ready, turn the heat down to low and add your star anise, thyme, wine and orange liqueur. Gently heat the mixture for around 20 minutes to let the flavours infuse. Be careful not to let the mixture boil or you will burn off the alcohol!
When it’s warm and delicious, ladle it into heatproof glasses or mugs to serve. Garnish with
a slice of orange and a stick of cinnamon. Rodeo Association this year for both events. The September Rodeo Flyer is due to be released very soon. All nomination information will be included on the flyer. Full COVID Protocol will be in place for all MMRAI events. If you are unwell, experience COVID symptoms, or travelled overseas in the last 14 days, please stay at home! MMRAI shall reserve the right to ask any guest to leave should they be experiencing any of the above. All of the Rodeo team have been working extra hard to be able to bring our three upcoming events to the township of Mount Morgan. We are certain that everyone is itching for a bit of cent sale and dust flying fun, seen as though most of us have been restricted due to COVID .
MMRAI held its AGM last weekend and the following positions have been filled: President- Barbara Gould, Vice President - Juerge Veber, Treasurer – Dick Needham, Secretary – Marie Maroney and Spokesperson – Adrian Roots.
