PROFILE

Biji K. Kurien a Gold Medalist in the Post Graduate Program in Business Administration from IIM Ahmedabad, is a veritable storehouse of experience in industry, business and management. His interests include Public Speaking and Management Teaching.

He has worked with the Mysore State Electricity Board, Esso Standard Eastern Inc., Asian Paints Limited, Berger Paints India Limited, CPSColor India Private Limited in an executive capacity for over 30 years.

He has also worked as a Business and Strategy Consultant for over 20 years, in a wide variety of industries; such as Education, Agriculture and Floriculture, Tobacco, Machinery and Chemical Processing, Retail, and Franchising as well as a number of Paint companies in India and abroad.

Over the past eight years, Biji undertook consulting assignment involving turned around an old yet wellknown brand of consumer semi-durable in the retail space; mentored technology start-ups and often sits on the advisory board of start-ups across continent.

In 2013/14 he worked with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) on behalf of the Indian Paint

Association (IPA) to set up the Paint & Coatings Skill Council. Once clearance from the NSDC was secured, along

with

the

funding,

&

IPA

to

take

the

implementation of the project forward; and continues in an advisory role.

Biji K. Kurien’s wealth of experience, gained over 50 years, in sales, marketing and business strategy has been utilized, to set up companies in India and abroad as well as to support and advise shareholders in the acquisition of companies. In addition to running companies in India, he supervised companies in Asia, the Middle East, Russia and Africa and has also built up and maintains a wide network of contacts. He has negotiated and finalised a number of technology transfer agreements for companies in South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Biji has been an active member of various trade bodies and associations; was the President of the Indian Paint Association (IPA) and remains a member of their Governing Body. In January 2011 he was honoured by the Indian Paint Association, with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his service to the Paint Industry, over a period of 40 years. He was the President of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the oldest Chamber of Commerce, East of the Suez.

Mr Sandilya is a Commerce Graduate from Madras University and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He started his career in 1969 with DCM group of companies at their Group Headquarters in the Finance function followed by Union Carbide where he worked for five years in three locations namely Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai in Systems as well as Finance and Accounts.

Mr Sandilya joined Eicher in 1975 when it was a very small company manufacturing Agricultural tractors in its factory at Faridabad.

He has been a part of the growth journey of the Group and held various positions in different business units. He was the Managing Director of Eicher Motors Limited, the Commercial Vehicles Manufacturing business unit of the Group till 1998 before moving to the Group Office to take responsibility for Group

Finance and Strategic Planning in addition to being the MD of Eicher Motors. He took over as Group Chairman and CEO in April 2000. He is the Non-Executive Chairman from 2006 after superannuation.
