Was born on 10.06.1963 at Chennai. He completed law degree at Madras Law College and enrolled in the year 1989. Practiced in civil, criminal and writ sides with specialization in indirect taxes, customs and Central Excise matters for a period of 25 years. He served as an Additional Government Pleader (Taxes) for the Government of Tamil Nadu, as Additional Central Government Standing Counsel and Senior Panel Counsel for the Government of India at Madras High Court and conducted more than 9000 cases. He got elevated as a judge of the Madras High court in the

year 2013.
If there was ever a democratic leader in Mauritius whose life biography needed to be written, Armoogum Parsuramen (Dassen) would be the real and ideal candidate. It would be impossible to

mention all of his accomplishments. That is why his biography, which is a product of his life, is replete with local, national, and international contributions. His accomplishments have a direct effect on the lives of people everywhere. He was born to serve.
He is from a large family and is from Cap Malheureux, which is located in the country's far north. Life was exceedingly difficult back then due to little income, and Dassen personally experienced poverty and subpar living circumstances. Dassen was a perceptive young man who realized that education was the cornerstone of everyone's progress and betterment. After completing his education in his village, he continued his studies at Friendship College in Goodlands. In his Cambridge School Certification Examination, he did remarkably well. He continued on and was one of the first group of students to pursue a BA with Honors in Administration at the University of

His professional journey started as a teacher in Friendship college, alongside he also took a plunge into Politics. With his education getting due credit he became the Village Councilor and also Chairman of the Riviere du Rempart/Pamplemousses District council. He got more deeply involved in politics and was elected to the national assembly in 1982 as a candidate of Parti Socialiste Mauricien (PSM) under the leadership of Harish Boodhoo. In 1983 he took on the role as Minister of Education, Art and Culture.
He
made
outstanding
contributions
by
personally
participating
in
all
of
the
ministry's
major
initiatives and interacting with the stakeholders in order to gather insightful knowledge. The
Master Plan for Education
is the result of his 13 years of service as Minister of Education, Art,
and Culture. Student right from preschool to college, were covered by the strategy.
He left politics at the age of 45 to work for the United Nations and its affiliates on a global scale. With his Master Plan for Education, he went about sowing the seeds of advancement. He began working

He is still devoted to helping and supporting his community. People who know him well will find great motivation in his life, and those who don't will find inspiration in his biography.

administration. He has a Post Graduate Degree in English and Education, a B L Degree and PhD in HRD. He has served in the State Government of Tamil Nadu for over 36 years with an unblemished track
record

excelling
in
accomplishments implementing

reputation for impeachable integrity and professionalism. His efficiency in Civil administration brought him many prestigious awards, notably the ‘Best Collector Award’, Malcolm Award, Anna Award, St Johns Ambulance Award from Government of Tamil Nadu. He received encomiums from spiritual leaders in organizing Hindu Spiritual Fairs in several districts of Tamil Nadu and for lending support for organizing National Level Hindu Spiritual Fairs in Chennai.

He is a great research scholar in the field of Education and his research papers have received much acclaim at the national level. He has authored more than 40 books. He is best known for his English translation of Thirukkural for which Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India has paid a very well-deserved tribute in his foreword to this book. He belongs to the scholar-civil servant tradition with strong roots to our rich and undiscovered cultural and spiritual heritage.
He is currently working as Member, Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.
