ChithraMadhavan
Chithra Madhavan has an M.A. and an M.Phil. in Indian History and a Ph.D. in Ancient History and Archaeology. She is the recipient of two Post-Doctoral Fellowships. Chithra has published nine books - History and Culture of Tamil Nadu (in two volumes), Vishnu Temples of South India (in five volumes), Sanskrit Education and Literature in Ancient and Medieval Tamil Nadu – An Epigraphical Study and Temples of Kanchipuram. She has written the text for a coffee-table book Snapshots Of A Bygone Era- A Century of Images which contains about a hundred photographs of monuments of India. She has also co-edited a book South India Heritage which contains five hundred articles on various aspects of South India’s heritage and culture and has edited a book on sculptures for Kalakshetra Foundation which contains twenty articles on iconography by well-known authors on this subject. Chithra is also the General Editor of books on the Srirangam temple the Varadaraja Perumal temple, Kanchipuram and the Srivilliputtur temples. She regularly conducts heritage tours to places of historical and archaeological significance in India and abroad.

2001 onwards in Academia: Guest Faculty at CEG, Anna University, Dept of Science & Tech Communication, Madras University, WCC, Loyola, NIFT and MOP colleges.
Subjects: branding, communication, advertising and creative strategy
1988- 2001 Advertising industry: Worked in the creative departments of leading advertising agencies in Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Coimbatore & Hyderabad across leading agencies including Artig, Insight, Euro RSCG and Mudra Communications. Held leadership positions in the creative depts.

Handled national accounts like Henkel, Cavin Care, TI Cycles, Kurlon, ICI, Wipro, Pricol, Nalli Silks, ITC, Mysore Silks, Crocodile and HMT. Won awards at the regional and national levels for advertising creativity and brand communication.
PAPERS PUBLISHED
Written and published papers in Communication, CSR & Marketing/Advertising for Development within India at national and international conferences.
OTHER INTERESTS
Sports- Former ranked tennis player, represented Madras University and TN State. Won All India Inter University tournament & Bronze at the National Games. Keen interest in classical arts and reading.
