MMA AGM & MAME 2024

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the MMA Awards for Managerial Excellence (MAME) were held on Friday, 5th July 2024, at the MMA Management Centre, with enthusiasticparticipationandappreciationfrommembers.

Mr Josh Foulger, President, Zetwerk, delivered the Special Address, and Mr T V Narendran,CEOandManagingDirector,TataSteel,deliveredtheValedictoryAddress. The thought-provoking speeches by both speakers energized the audience with powerfulinsightsonleadership,resilience,andIndia’sgrowthjourney."

PerformanceHighlights: 2024–2025

1. Managerial Excellence Recognised

TheMMAAwardforManagerialExcellencewasconferred at the 68th Annual General Meeting on 5th July 2024. In consultationwithDeloitte,theawardsrecognisedTVSMotor Company, Sify Technologies Limited, Bimetal Bearings Limited, and Sri Sairam Engineering College for their exemplary contributions to management practices and innovation.

2. Annual Convention 2025

TheflagshipMMAAnnualConvention,heldon12th February2025atHotelTajCoromandel,wasaresounding success.Withthetheme“FoundationsforBuildinga ResilientIndia”,theeventfeaturedinsightfuladdressesby Mr.VellayanSubbiahandMr.BrajendraNavnit,IAS,and over700delegatesattendedinpersonandwith10,500online participants.TheConventionfostereddeepconversationson leadership,innovation,andresilienceinanevolvingIndia.

3. Women Managers’ Convention

MMA reaffirmed its commitment to empowering women in management through the Women Managers’ Convention on 15th March 2025. The event, inaugurated by Dr. Kanimozhi NVN Somu, Member of Parliament dasddsddsdddsa

(Rajya Sabha), and over 390 women professionals attended in person and with more than 8,800 online attendees. The theme “Empowering Change, Inspiring Leadership” resonated deeply with the participants, creating a vibrant spacefordialogue,learning,andinspiration.

4. All India Management Students Convention

The 23rd All India Management Students’ Convention, held on 22nd October 2024 at the IIT Research Park, welcomedover1,200studentsattendedinpersonand18,000 online attendees. Focused on “What Does it Take to Jumpstart a Successful Career?”, the event connected studentswithindustryleaders,offeringpracticalinsightsand careerguidance.

5. CavinKare – MMA Chinnikrishnan Innovation Awards 2024

A landmark year for this prestigious award, the 2024 edition embraced a fully digital outreach strategy, amassing 65 lakh impressions and engaging over 40 lakh individuals throughvarioussocialmediaplatforms.Theawardceremony at IIT Madras Research Park honoured three outstanding innovators, with Ms. Prabha Narasimhan, MD & CEO of ColgatePalmoliveIndiaLtd,deliveringapowerfulkeynoteon innovation. The hybrid event was attended by 950 attendees inpersonand6,500online.

CommitmenttoQuality andGovernance

OneofourproudestaccomplishmentsthisyearistheISO 9001:2015 Certification awarded to MMA by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The certification, achieved after SSDSD

rigorous audits, is a testament to MMA’s strong governance framework, systematic operations, and commitment to international quality standards. I commend the MMA Secretariat for their diligence and professional excellence in securingthisrecognition.

CSRandSkill DevelopmentInitiatives

Our CSR initiative, implemented in partnership with ACSYSInvestments,AsTrust,SuperAutoForge,andFlexco, delivered remarkable impact. Skill development programs wereextendedtonineschools,benefiting7,068studentsand recording an impressive 98,052 impact hours. This initiative isnotjustameasureofnumbersbutasteptowardsnurturing talent and creating meaningful change in the lives of underprivilegedstudents.

I express my heartfelt thanks to Mr. V. Shankar, Mr. S. Seetharaman, and Mr. Mukundan for their leadership and generosityinsupportingthisinitiative.Withcontinueddonor engagement, this programme has the potential to transform theeducationaljourneyofthousandsmore.

CelebratingSustained Excellence

MMAwasrecognisedastheBestManagementAssociation in India for the 14th consecutive year (2022–2023)—a recognition we did not compete for in 2023–2024, in accordance with the awarding body’s norms. This record underscores our culture of consistency, innovation, and purpose-drivenleadership.

MMA ANNUAL CONVENTION 2025

MMA’stheme-basedAnnualConventionisahighpointinthecalendarofmanagementevents in the country. It has gained a reputation for high quality and excellence over the years has always been an event that the management fraternity looks forward to for its quality and content, creating an opportunity of learning, participation in meaningful discussions and thoughtprovokingcontent.

MMA organized its flagship event – MMA Annual Convention 2025 on the Theme “Foundations for Building a Resilient India” on Wednesday, 12 February 2025 at Hotel Taj Coromandel, Chennai with over 750 delegates attended in person and around 28,150 viewers watched onlinethroughvariousMMAsocialmediachannels.

During the inaugural Session, Mr Brajendra Navnit, Principal Secretary to Government of TN Information Technology & Digital Services Department delivered the Keynote Address and Mr. Vellayan Subbiah, Chairman, Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Co. Ltd & Executive Vice Chairman of Tube Investments of India Ltd, delivered the Inaugural Address during the Convention.

MMA’s another milestone initiative during the convention was the launch of MMA-ICT Academy collaboration and the exchange of MoU between Mr Mahalingam, President, MMA, Partner, TSM Group of Companies and Mr Josh Foulger, President, Electronics Zetwerk in the presence of Mr Lakshmi Narayanan, Founding Member, ICT Academy during the Inaugural session. This initiative would enhance reach of MMA and its activities to a large number of Tech. Educational Institutions from all over India. Mr Josh Foulger, Member Board, ICT Academy & President Electronics Zetwerk shared his insights on the highlights of the joint endevaourbetweenMMAandICTAcademy.

Tha MMA Annual Convention was a standout event of the year, marked by an impressive lineup of speakers who delivered inspiring addresses. The Convention garnered overwhelming satisfaction from both speakers and session chairman who recognized its immense scale and impact.

One of the Convention's highlights was the presentation of awards to the winners of the MMA Competition for young Managers. Award Ceremony took place during the Inaugural Session, honoringtheoutstandingachievementsoftalentedManagers.

ThesuccessoftheConventionwasgreatlysupportedbyMcKinsey&Company,servingasthe Knowledge Partner and The Hindu Business line as the media partner for the event. Their expertise and collaboration ensured the seamless execution of another remarkable convention.

To Commemorate the International Women’s Day on 8 March an exclusive Women Managers Convention is organized every year by the MMA. The event creates a platform for womenacrossdifferentwalksoflife,tocometogether,sharetheirthoughts,opinions,insights and experiences. Each year a contemporary theme is chosen and speakers of national and internationalreputeareinvitedtosharetheirexperiencesandthoughts. th

Within a four weeks of the MMA Annual Convention, the most awaited annual feature on the MMA Calendar – MMA Women Managers Convention 2025 on the theme “Empowering Change, Inspiring Leadership” was organized on Saturday, 15 March 2025 at the MMA MangementCenter. th

The MMA Women Managers Convention 2025 was attended by over 400 participants in person at MMA Management Center and over 23650 viewers watched the programme live through various social media portals of MMA. The convention was well covered by the Media and a resounding success from all viewpoints like theme, content, design and structure, selectionofeminentspeakers.

Management Students are the future managers of India on whom lies the responsibility of realising India’s dreams. During 2002, MMA launched its first Management Students Convention(MSC)onthetheme“TransformationfromManagerstoLeaders”.TheMSCprovides an opportunity to the students to learn from Corporate gurus and at the same time provides them a platform to showcase their managerial acumen through Paper Presentations, BusinessProposals,theBigDebateonachosentopicapartfromManagementQuiz.

The 23rd MMA All India Management Students Convention on the theme “What Does it Take To Jumpstart a Successful Career” was held on Tuesday, 22 October 2024 at IIT Research ParkAuditorium. nd

Thanks to the Convention Committee headed by Mr S V Nathan, CEO & Co-Founder,Visara Human Capital Consulting Pvt Ltd our knowledge partner for ably organizing the 23rd MMA All India Management Students Convention. A galaxy of speakers shared their insights on the theme.TheConventionwasagrandsuccsessandattendedbyover1100delegatesinpersonat IIT Research Park Auditorium and over 27950 viewers watched through various social media portals.

The Students Convention 2024 was a resounding success in every aspect: from the theme,

MMA CHANAKYA – THE MASTERMIND

Best All India Management Student of the Year 2024

MMA’s “Chanakya - The Mastermind” Award was instituted in the year 2010. It was one of the most significant events of the 23 MMA All India Management Students’ Convention 2024.The award is presented after a contest held to determine the Best Potential Manager of the year. The process is rigorous but rewarding, as it aims to bring out the best in management students. MMA received over 5500 entries for this year’s Competition from all over India. The applicants were screened based on (a) their past academic performance, (b) significant achievements, (c) competitions won, and awards obtained, and (d) an essay on the subject “Why am I the Best Manager?”. From this large pool of applicants, the list was narrowed down to45,ofwhich12contestantswerefromoutsideTamilNadu.

Theshort-listed45contestantsunderwentthreerigorousroundsofevaluationduringthePreFinals of the Competition. The three rounds included: (1) Psychometric Tests to evaluate their thinking and problem-solving skills, (2) Group Discussions to assess their ability to handle pressure situations and teamwork skills, and (3) “Just-a-Minute” extempore competition to judge their speed of response and ability to think on their feet. MAME Awards – Recognition for Managerial Excellence

The MMA Awards for Managerial Excellence" were established by the MMA (Management Association) in 2002 to recognize and reward outstanding managerial thinking, action, and measurable results in various sectors. These awards encompass four categories: Manufacturing,Services,SMEs(Small,andMediumEnterprises),andeducation.

MMA's primary objective is to promote knowledge, education, and the adoption of effective managementpractices.Theawardsspecificallytargetcompaniesandinstitutionsthathave theircorporateorregisteredofficesinthesouthernstates.

Theevaluationprocessoftheawardsconsidersseveralcrucialaspectsoftheorganizationsin each category. These include their vision, goals, financial performance, initiatives taken, corporate social responsibility, quality of management processes, and growth in market share.

In the manufacturing category, the awards focus on recognizing excellence in managerial practices and achievements within the manufacturing sector. It encompasses industries involvedintheproductionofgoods.

In the services category, the awards recognize exemplary managerial thinking, action, and outcomes in service-oriented industries such as healthcare, hospitality, financial services, informationtechnologyandmore.

The MSMEs category acknowledges managerial excellence in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. This category targets smaller businesses and recognizes their achievements in termsofmanagementpracticesandmeasurableresults.

Finally, the education category evaluates the managerial excellence demonstrated by educational institutions. This includes universities, colleges, schools, and other educational organizations that have shown exceptional leadership, innovation, and effectiveness in their managementpractices.

Through the MMA Awards for Managerial Excellence, the MMA aims to honor and promote organizations that have excelled in various aspects of management, thereby encouraging the dissemination of best practices and driving overall improvement in the field of

MMA-Amalgamations Business Leadership Award

TheMMA-AmalgamationsBusinessLeadershipAwardwasinstitutedin1969bythelateMr.A Sivasailam in memory of his father the late S Anantharamakrishnan, Founder of the Amalgamations Group. The award is presented to an Indian business leader, adjudged as outstandingbyapanelofeminentjurorsformingtheselectioncommittee.

The awardee also delivers the Anantharamakrishnan Memorial Lecture at the award function.

The last recipient of the MMA – Amalgamations Business Leadership Award 2023 was Mr N Chandrasekaran,Chairman,TataSons.

MMA MBA Awards

The MMA presents the MMA Awards to recognize the first rank holders in MBA from Anna University and the University of Madras. These awards consist of a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each. The primary objective of the MMA-MBA Award is to promote and encourage academic excellence in the field of management studies by acknowledging and rewarding the academicachieversinMBAcoursesfromtheseuniversities.

The MMA-MBA Awards for the top rank holder from Anna University is supported by V Narayanan Memorial Endowment Award - Pond’s Veterans, while the award for the top rank holder from the University of Madras is supported by the Dr Nirmala Prasad MOP Endowmentfund.

Traditionally, these awards are presented annually during the All India Management Students Convention, an event where management students from across the country gather.

By recognizing and rewarding the first rank holders in MBA from Anna University and the University of Madras, the MMA aims to inspire and motivate students to strive for academic excellenceinthefieldofmanagementstudies.

MMA Best Young Manager Award 202528 MMA Competition for Young Managers

Since 1996, MMA has been organizing the MMA Competition for Young Managers. This competition provides opportunities to young managers to demonstrate their knowledge, experience, professional excellence and creativity in the larger interest of the management community.

The Competition is held every year as a run up to the MMA Annual Convention on the same themeastheConventionandisrestrictedtoManagersbelow40yearsofage.

This year’s Competition on the theme “Foundations for Building A Resilient India” was conducted on 7 February 2025. The competition was won by the team from Tata ConsultancyServicesledbyMsSriKalaivaniPannerselvamandMsRajalakshmiRamanathan.

24 MMA Outstanding Woman Manager of the Year Award 2025

The MMA Competition for the Outstanding Woman Manager of the Year Award is a part of MMA’s effort to help the Women Managers improve their professional excellence. The Competition is held every year since 2002 as a run up to the Women Managers’ Convention organisedontheoccasionofInternationalWomen’sDay.

The theme of this year’s competition was “Empowering Change, Inspriring Leadership”. The Oral Presentation was held on 12 March 2025 to select the Winner of the MMA Outstanding WomanManageroftheYearAward2025.

Ms Sindhujah R, Tata Consultancy Services was chosen as “Outstanding Woman Manager of theYear2025awardwhichincludedacashprize,atrophyandaCertificate.

The Award for Best Written Paper was presented to Ms. Iswarya Veerappan of Tata Consultancy Services, while the Award for Best Oral Presentation was conferred upon Ms. KavviyaC.V.ofTAFE.

13th CavinKare-MMA Chinnikrishnan Innovation Awards 2024

Winners of 13th CavinKare-MMA ChinniKrishnan Innovation Awards 2024 held on Saturday, 14th September 2024. The Chief Guest Ms Prabha Narasimhan, Managing Director & CEO of Colgate Palmolive India Ltd presented the Awards.

In the year 2011, CavinKare launched Chinnikrishnan Innovation Awards, in memory of Late Shri R Chinnikrishnan (Father of Mr. C K Ranganathan, Chairman & Managing Director, CavinKare Pvt Ltd). Mr. Chinnikrishnan had a vision and believed that ‘whatever a rich man enjoys, a common man should be able to afford’.Since its inception, Chinnikrishnan Innovation Awards have stood out in its steadfast support of innovative ventures started by smallandtinyindustries,businessmenandbusinesswomen.

The Cavinkare - MMA Chinnikrishnan Innovation Award 2024 this year recognized three such Entrepreneurswhousedtheircreativitytofindefficientsolutionstoproblem.

The eminent jury comprised of Lt Gen Karanbir Singh Brar, PVSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Bharat Area, Mr A R Unnikrishnan, Managing Director, Saint Gobain India Private Limited, Mr Manoj Joseph Kallarackal, Managing Director, THEJO Engineering Limited,MrVSuryanarayanan,ManagingDirector,CholamandalamMSGeneralInsuranceCo Ltd, Dr L S Ganesh, Vice Chancellor, ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, Hyderabad, Mr Lakshminarayanan Duraiswamy, Managing Director, Sundaram Home Finance Ltd and Ms Aarthi Lakshminarayanan, Partner, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. The call for nominations process received 325 applications from all over India, where the nominees were interviewed under various stringent guidelines streamlined by the Process Advisor Shardul AmarchandMangaldas&Co.

Award of ISO 9001:2015 Certification to MMA by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)

Madras Management Association (MMA) has been awarded the prestigious ISO 9001:2015 Certification in Quality Process Management by the Bureau of IndianStandards(BIS).

Thisrecognitioncomesasaresult of MMA successfully completing both the preliminary and final audits conducted by BIS, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to excellence in process management, governance,andservicedelivery.

The audit team commended MMA for its high standards of documentation and process discipline, which were key factors inthesuccessfulcertification.

The ISO 9001:2015 certification marks yet another step in MMA’s continuous journey towards organisational excellence and bestpractices.

Adoption of Technology

At Madras Management Association (MMA), embracing innovation and technology has always been a cornerstone of our efforts to deliver high-quality programmes and services to our members. In keeping with this vision, MMA has continued to integrate advanced tools andinfrastructuretoenhancetheoverallmemberexperienceandoperationalefficiency.

A significant step in this direction has been the implementation of Mentimeter, a cloudbased interactive platform that enables real-time polling and Q&A sessions during events— ensuringseamless,paperlessinteractionandenhancedaudienceengagement.

Further, the MMA Auditorium has been upgraded with modern amenities including highspeed Wi-Fi, state-of-the-art presentation systems, laser projection technology, and paperless transaction capabilities. Our commitment to digital transformation is reflected in the complete digital documentation of records, ensuring both accessibility and archival excellence.

In support of sustainability, MMA has adopted solar power with net metering, contributing meaningfullytoourgreenenergyinitiatives.

These technological advancements are aligned with MMA’s commitment to sustainable practices, operational excellence, and inclusive growth, reinforcing our position as a forwardthinkingandfuture-readyinstitution.

FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE

MMA’sFinancialPerformancefortheyear2024-25hasbeenpositive.Consideringthecurrent environment. Revenue generation has shown an upward trend resulting in significant additions to the General Fund. This growth can be attributed to increased income from subcriptions, improved surplus at conventions with support from sponsors, higher revenue from trainging programs, and cost reduction measures. The surplus generated is being reinvested in infrastructure improvement and enhancing the quality of MMA’s offerings to its.
