2024 Spring Sort Sale

Page 1

SATURDAY | APRIL 27 | 1:00 P.M.

Raising a family in a production agricultural entity can be the purest experience especially when it’s an operation with generational involvement and turnover. Multiple generation outfits are out there but so are those that took the risk and set out on their own and represent the foundation generation of those that can become generational empires down the road. Horn Livestock is one of those that most are familiar with within the show industry as one of the most dominant foundation outfits in the nation. The risk can equal the reward when grit and pure sweat equity are applied in their purest form. The purity of the calluses, the stress, and the maintenance of the faith in the highest of higher powers drive those who are the most successful. All we can ask of the next generation under our roof, bearing our family name is to embrace the principles, integrity, sacrifice, knowledge, and the examples we set for them to go on to the next generation under their watch.

As breeders, producers, and marketers of seedstock we have a responsibility not only to our customers but to the industry as well. Each decision we make has to maintain the highest form of integrity to ensure that we offer a fair and accurate representation of the animal to our loyal and potential buyers. A producer must ask themselves the question when they are assembling an offering, “Would I be willing to buy that calf to feed or would I buy that bred heifer to incorporate into my program, or will that calf truly be competitive if managed properly?” If your answer is no to any of those questions, then one needs to reevaluate the scenario. The cattle that are not good enough quality to remain within our program seemingly almost always find a trip to a different destination via the sale barn or the local locker. One can rest 100% assured that we are willing to retain each of these females offered in this program and that is why this is always an auction with reserve and not absolute. We believe in offering our best, we believe in what we are doing here, and we know that these cattle in our sales are the right kind to generate for their young investors after their show career is completed. Just to further prove our belief in our program and this set of females, Shipwreck Cattle Company will retain the right to two successful superovulation procedures either IVF or Conventional within the first three years of production on every female offered in this sale unless otherwise stated in the respective footnote. We strongly encourage each customer to reach out to us for breeding and management suggestions every step of the way and are in contact with our project investors throughout the year to make sure that the investment is in good standing.

The stock offered through the Black Label and Spring Sort sale series has been successful over the past decade. Many of our customers have gone on to collect banners at every Texas Major and have remained competitive both regionally and

nationally as well. We humbly tip our hats to all those who won on the Texas Major scene this year and congratulate those successful breeders. However, we are fact-supported believers that this offering is as good as any other that we have put together. Several maternal sibs to past banner winners are offered with past winners’ progeny as well. There isn’t a single heifer in this offering that we would not retain to breed the next generation of potential champions or donors. These cattle are from proven, predictable, profit-driving dams that have longevity and quality in their build, near perfection for udder quality, with sustainable substance and shape necessary for the beef business. I realize that most people in today’s buyer’s pool are only interested in the best one today and have little interest in feeding and managing the best one for tomorrow, but that’s what sorts those that are in it to win long term and those that may not have that true desire to embrace what this project used to be about and still should be about.

This set of bred cattle is loaded and saturated with some of the Simmental breed’s most proven cow families. We welcome our guest breeder in the bred section, JS Simmentals. Between Shipwreck Cattle and JS Simmentals, we have assembled an offering of bred females that are rich in sire power and backed by some of the breed’s most dominant producers, KCC1 Havana 83E, WHF Summer 365C, JS Flirt A-Way 59Y, CLRS Dairy Queen 606D, KCC Forever Lady 64G, DAF Reba C85, W/C Angel 2870Z, and the influence of the great Sandeen matron Sandeen Donna 8386. The bred females will carry the service to some of the Simmental breed’s leading and proven calving ease sires such as WHF/JS/CCS Double Up 365G, WHF/JS/CCS Woodford J001, Bridle Bit Recharge K256, 3BCC KCC1 Krypton 100K, PVF Blacklist 7077, and several other young and up and coming studs that are backed by elite and notable donor females of the breed.

We all travel several miles and surf the web relentlessly in search of females who are competitive in their kind but bred with the ability to generate postshow careers. There is no question in my mind that this set of females fits all bills except for the one that would read “common and nondescript”. In this introductory letter, we were more descriptive about the breds being offered, but the opens are covered in their footnotes as they also host some of the proven and next-generation donor females across all breeds. If we can answer any questions and discuss a plan or strategy to help out the next generation showman in your family, just reach out anytime. Please enjoy this sale book and the stock that paints the pages.

We certainly appreciate your interest!

APRIL 27 Grandview, Texas

NFF Wicked B125 is a female that was initially selected from the “Livin’ a Dream” Female Sale hosted by Nate and Leslie Ruby. I asked Nate before the sale what heifer he liked best, and we both had this one in the same spot on the list, so we just partnered. Nate Ruby did his usual great job of promoting the cow early on in her career as he had countless daughters by Ruby SWC Battle Cry 431B on the ground with inventory on ice. The cattle were well received and were several of their higher selling females through the early years, but when we elected to dissolve our partnership, he was gracious enough to allow me to take this one and so we left the others in Murray. This cow family is the kind I constantly preach about in terms of true, genuine body shape, true skeletal width, big and good at the surface, with flawless skeletal integrity, the kind that is just simply built to last forever. Sure, she’s not one that will blow your mind upon first glance, she doesn’t have the freak factor to make any college judging coach stop in their tracks, but she has proved to be one that can be protected with that high attaching front 1/3 presence, and she delivers whenever that trait is desired to come out in the end result. Hence the mating to the Weis and TC underrated champion-making stud, Brand New Man 001H.

We love the build and presence of the lot 1 female. She has been striking since the early stages of her introduction into the world. Her length and presence would make one stop and take notice while on her recip dam. She hits the ground as ideal on all four corners as you could ask for with base width that translates to a big, square pin set and an awesome back shape with strength of spine. We know that this is one of the best of the B125 females to date, so tie in with the utmost confidence.

This female is a full cycle behind her sister and had a younger, lighter milking recip to her claim, but we think the build and kind that this one is will only better herself down the road with time and maturity. We think she has some advantages over Lot 1 in terms of front-third extension, and spinal flexibility. She is so ladylike but yet has the shape and body type to make a killer senior yearling. This is one of those that will get it in time and will be one to watch especially a year from now.

GATEWAY FOLLOW ME F163

Sire of Lot 3

In my travels, I have always appreciated the kind and quality of the Gateway Follow Me F163 sire group. The cattle trend consistently from genetic equation to place of management. More often than not they have the sound running gear, good livestock body shape, and more skeletal width than one would assume. We have not made very many SimAngus cattle with the Wicked B125 donor female, but we do appreciate the end result in lot 3. She is as much like her dam of any in this trio in terms of that future brood cow look. She is big bodied with upper rib shape, long sided, sound, and continues to change and evolve daily through her front third. I am certain that she will change and improve as much as any of the three sisters in her progress towards senior yearling status.

Offered by: Shipwreck Cattle Company & Joseph Blount

When Dr. Blount reached out to us about this pair of full sisters which sell as lots 4 and 5, I knew that they would be something needed to keep the quality where this sale needs to be to offer more options than a lot of places in the country. The donor dam of these sisters is sired by the Bramlet stud known as CCF Clarified. The cattle by “Clarified” have been in demand and have met the demands of phenotypic quality and presence wherever his influence has been utilized. This donor prospect with show ring eligible credentials should gather the friends come April 27. Her power, presence, and skeletal quality will turn heads. For a daughter of WLE Copacetic to assume as much power and shape as this female has is certainly curve-bending amongst her sire group contemporaries of either sex. Dr. Blount said, “I think I have the one that people should gravitate towards, one that’s stout and burly,” and he wasn’t wrong. Pay attention here for sure.

For as high-end as big sister (Lot 4) is, little sister can get some things accomplished on her own without question. We know that many will appreciate the elegance of design that 119L brings to the table. She is extended and smooth in her transitions with a high-tying front third and impeccable structural integrity. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to do business with a very professional and passionate young family that will support your investment and child every step of the way or as much as you should need their involvement. Joseph and Erika are very excited about the project and have the skillset and know-how to justify any level of investment.

SWC HOC Annie K 214C needs no introduction to any sale hosted by Shipwreck Cattle Company. Since this female entered production, she never missed a beat. Her cattle and frozen genetics have always surfaced towards the top end of any marketing event hosted here on the property. She is from the past National Champion, ACW Annie K 330Y and sired by the timeless and proven JSSC Wide Body 090W a son of a past National Champion as well. The potency of this female regardless of sex is proven, predictable, and certain. She is the dam of SWC Game Day 514G that splits his turnout duties between the Shipwreck and Walrod programs and she is the dam of the $30,000 SWC Annie Rose 091F owned by Munson and Shipwreck as well as many others including one of the features in the bred offering selling as lot 37. We certainly like our mating decision to the $90,000 Brandon Bird owned W/C Red Bird 269J as we believe it to be her most consistent to date! This trio of full sisters does have a red-hided full sib brother that is very intriguing, to say the least for those that crave the good solid red ones.

We initiate these sisters with one powerful beast. I love the body shape and depth she has to offer to the business with plenty of center width and dimension throughout. Her substance is more than adequate, and her overall build and look are both functional and exquisite. Based on the skill level and opinions of the evaluators for the Texas Majors, they don’t necessarily have to be gorilla boned or blessed with a ton of shape which does concern me as this flush does have more than a lot of those that surfaced towards the top end of the pile at the end of the day, however, these are the kind we like and these are the kind that will produce those breed and industry-leading herd sires. This female did have the misfortune of losing her tail as a calf, but unlike most short-tailed stock, her quarter shape and design do not require it to balance her symmetry and profile. Buy her to show or buy her to mass produce the good ones, it doesn’t matter to the team here as we appreciate every good piece of this animal and respect what she has the offer. Her only defect is not genetic, her progeny will have what she is missing.

She will have an impeccable udder when she enters production and comes with the awesome genetically induced fertility that runs strong in the family. This female is long necked and smooth in her shoulder to forerib transition, with ideal flex in her skeleton, and true to the surface. I loved 269J when we sold him at Werning Cattle Company, he is one that we will continue to use to inject another outside, proven, cow family with national recognition. W/C Angel 2870Z continues to rival her dam and countless maternal sisters throughout the land in terms of total dollars of progeny sales and the quality level of stock produced and her son “Red Bird” comes with a linebred pedigree that breeds true quality each time.

What a privilege it is to offer a heifer bred as such and one that comes with undeniable quality and pen presence from any angle of evaluation. It could be love at first sight for many visitors who make it through the pens on or before sale day. Her overall look, extension, high tying presence, and quality elevation are rivaled by very few and should be recognized by many. She is one of definite quality and has the pedigree to support her investment at whatever level it may be.

The dam of this female was successfully campaigned by Sara Sullivan in the year 2020. America was crowned Reserve Champion Female of the 2020 National Western Stock Show, from there she went on that Summer to win the 2020 AJSA National Classic and was also Supreme Champion Female at the 2020 Iowa State Fair Junior Show. This show heifer/donor prospect is sired by the past National Western Stock Show Champion himself, THSF Lover Boy B33, also a proven sire of many champions in his own right. There will not ever be a more dominant mating than this one, ever in the show cattle sector of the business. What a testament to the dedication that the crew in Dunlap, Iowa has to lay claim to. This mating is certainly one of consistent quality at every stage of maturity and would be as bound with Champions as any mating in the entire industry. A year ago, we were fortunate enough to offer JSUL SWC Rosie 2614K as the $75,000 selection of the Ross Family of Nebraska. Madden Ross and 2614K have had quite a trip over the past year and are anticipating the ultimate reward later this Summer. Maternal sisters to the dam of this dynamic centerfold are offered in this sale as lots 33 and 34.

This youthful fall prospect has made several friends this winter and spring. She comes with the extra body shape that wasn’t native to her dam but enhanced by her sire. She is the near-perfect genetic and phenotypic blend as all areas of weakness on both sides were complemented and strengthened by the other. SWC Rust Lead Angel 799L is certainly a leading lady within this offering. She offers a pedigree of proven excellence that is stacked with dominant show champions who went on to produce and generate. 799L is from a direct daughter of the leading donor for the JWC program of South Dakota, W/C Angel 2870Z, the past National and Fort Worth Stock Show Champion Simmental Female. It is a pleasure to own this female with the Rust Mountain View Farms family of North Dakota and we appreciate all that Josh has done for us along the way.

799L has been a standout since day one! Her sire is the $600,000 STCC Tecumseh 058J, the direct son of the past Louisville Champion HF Serena, making him a sib to some of the high-profile stock marketed by the Trennepohl family of Indiana. This female takes poise and elegance to a whole other level with the ideal rib design, and a hip and hind leg structure better than the majority of the sire group contemporaries. The dam is wet, productive, and built for speed when it comes to her overall design. Lot 12 is laced with the good stuff with no sacrifices required.

This female would tie to some of the elite bred cattle in the offering brought to us by Ken and Jay Steenhoek as she is from a W/C Relentless 32C sired maternal sister to the Griswold matriarch referred to as “Boots” or JS Black Satin 9B. JS Flirt A Way 76H is owned jointly with Dylan Sheffield of Sheffield Ranch and we look forward to what the investment has in store moving forward. This show heifer prospect has maintained a photogenic pen presence from the start. She is ultra high in her neck set, flat and smooth in her shoulder with a better set of front running gear than her dam maintained in her career on the tanbark. We think this female offers a competitive build that is true in her lines, flawless in her transitions, and has her best days ahead of her with feed and time. Believe in the cow family and the popular young sire that is owned and promoted by one of the nation’s talented, young cattlemen.

SWC Let It Fly 813L is a direct daughter of the 2015 Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo Champion Simmental female who was the 2014 Black Label high-selling, $30,000 selection of the Culpepper Family of Gonzales, Texas. FLY Sheeza TX Lady 8015C is a direct daughter of Yardley High Regard W242 and from the old school cool Nichols Joliette 107W. 107W would be comparable to today’s Miss Werning KP 8543U in terms of producing cattle that are consistent in their overall quality and predictability. Mr HOC Broker’s sire, SVF Steel Force S701 is a derivative of the Nichols Joliette 107W cow family, three generations removed. It just goes to show you that the great ones are timeless!

813L is sired by the $170,000 FRKG CKCC Platinum 009H and comes with the added dose of look and kind that the sire group is known for. Her dam, 8015C, is unrivaled in the cowherd for substance and dimension, as she is one of the very stout boned, big footed, big hipped, burly featured brood matrons in the Shipwreck inventory.

Most that follow the Simmental and SimGenetic scene know what the brothers to this dam have done for the breed and the breeders that chose to use them and C21 is no different. The cow family and genetics offered are as valuable as the critter in the flesh.

A maternal brother by B C R Perfect Vision, 3BCC Kash Money L21, will be campaigned by Red River Farms and promoted by 3 B Cattle Company and Shipwreck Cattle Company with some of the first sexed female semen to be offered as lot 201 A-J. If you prefer a splash of chrome, then this Next Level daughter should be able to meet those needs! Curtis Stevens sends us a set of fall borns each year and we appreciate his support back through his purchases in the Black Label and Spring Sort. Lot 18 comes rich in proven pedigree as her dam is a direct daughter of Mr CCF 20-20 from the original TNGL Gemstone A527. A527 has been a cornerstone donor for the Ferguson Show Cattle firm for several years as the genetic outcross donor dam left a trail of daughters that are employed by multiple firms throughout the nation. This descendant holds nothing back and does not disappoint in quality. She is very big and dense in her foot shape with body, substance, and squareness of build. There are sire choices available to tone the chrome down, but when you are chasing the baldies or the blaze-faced ones, it takes one of this quality to get to that point.

SWC KCC1 Lady Gianna 966L is the lone SimGenetic female of the open female division and one that is certainly in order on the fundamentals. Her sire is a past high-selling sale feature for Cow Camp Ranch in Kansas. CCR Stockman 8033E is from a S A V Brilliance 8077 sired sister to the Patriarch CCR Cowboy Cut 5048Z and sired by the same bull as the famously proven, WHF Summer 365C, CCR Wide Range 9005A. I did have the opportunity to sell “Stockman” and I remember him as one that had phenotype advantages over the rest of the offering that year in Lost Springs. He was one of the last great bulls that balanced phenotype and genetic advantages made in the Bruner program. The bull had a threedimensional body shape, but it was square where it should be and round where it was expected to be. His foot, bone, and structure were very appealing as well and would still be great today. We have had a handful of these cattle over the years and the consistency is deeply engrained in the DNA. The maternal side of this percentage gem is from the same donor dam as KCC1 Havana 83E and is sired by profit. TKCC Victoria 57A is from a line of donor females who were instrumental in getting programs noticed due to their unrivaled physical kind and quality. Her maternal granddam, Harkers Stars P117, was the foundation Simmental donor for the Dieter Brothers program of South Dakota. P117 was selected by the true cattleman of northwest Nebraska, Jerry Adamson, from the Dieter Brothers dispersal. Jerry would have mated “Stars” to WAGR Driver 706T to create Ford RJ Dolly Y83. Tom Kearns would have partnered with the Rockn J crew when she had TKCC Victoria 57A on board. Zach Kearns purchased 57A from his father Tom and has since kept the next two generations within the program in Rushville. The Profit sired dam of lot 24, KCC1 Gianna 9066G is a key part of those ongoing generational turnovers within the P117 cow family. The fact that lot 24 is quality, problem-free livestock, with genuine shape, and skeletal integrity, is no accident. She represents the fifth generation removed in a series of potent donor females. LONG’S CARMEN - Dam of Lot 25

2019 AJSA National Classic Grand Champion Bred & Owned Purebred Simmental Heifer

LONG’S SAM L910

$70,000 Maternal Sister to Lot 25

Another female from a past champion, except this one’s dam, comes with a National Title. In 2019 the AJSA Summer Classic Champion Bred and Owned Female was shown and exhibited by the late Sammi Long. The Long Family made it their family mission with Sammi’s untimely departure to give all they had into making this past champion a household name, and I would say that mission is closer and closer with each calf crop to make that happen!

Long’s Carmen is a dominant donor dam in a competitive field in Creston, Iowa. She continually kicks out the sale features and high sellers in the family’s annual production sale. In the most recent event in February, a daughter of JSUL Something About Mary 8421 commanded a $70,000 hammer price and a maternal brother by KCC1 Countertime 872H sold for $20,000. In 2023 a pair of bred heifers sired by W/C Rolex 0135E and a daughter of W/C Loaded Up 1119Y gather up $26,000 and $19,500 respectively.

“Carmen” stamps her progeny with superior physical presence like no other female in the business and so on a December visit to the farm, north of Creston, Iowa, I set my eyes on this very unique creature and instantly started giving the Long’s a hard time about how good this direct daughter of “Style” was. She was and still is very legit and her dam powered through again. We all know that the cattle by 9303 can be suspect for hoof quality and for overall body shape from time to time. My first point of evaluation is always at the surface, and I quickly acknowledged how big and dense her foot structure was with true depth of heel as well, she is substantial in terms of her skeletal substance, plentiful in her beef animal shape, and still maintains the look of a highly competitive lady. We are all in on this competitive SimAngus female from her physical presence to her genetic merit and what she will most likely do when she enters production, it will be good for certain!

A standout, lone Hereford female of the offering who is from a very productive daughter of the maternally driven “Leader”. 8613F is a beautiful uddered, fertile, youthful, attractive, low-input brood cow with awesome feet and bulletproof skeletal integrity. 332L is an attractive, awesome built show heifer prospect that comes with the extra length and frame. She is high and wide in her pin set, ideal in her rear leg, big in her hip and back shape, with a bold outward turn to her rib. This female is high tying out of the front third of her build with a very chiseled skull. This female is a full sister to KGB Logic Kaye 8613K, a past high seller at the Black Label that was purchased by June Seinola and the Donnelly family. We present you a full sister in blood to some of the high-selling and successful young females in the Angus business with banners and show hardware but dominant production records as well. The KR Casino 6243 mating on Udell’s KDJ Queen Ruth 502 has been lights out as that mating has generated countless high sellers for the Udell family program with more yet to come. From a production merit record, UDE Queen Ruth 0204 is one that has been highly decorated and continually generates for her ownership battery as she returned her initial investment and paid the commission on the first aspiration sold. This female continues to produce the kind that top sales across the country and one that the industry will continue to hear from. Another female that carries the “Casino x 502” lineage is most commonly referred to as “Becky” or UDE Queen Ruth 9088. 9088 is employed by the Weis and Lashmett families and continues to generate the competitive kind regardless of sex that commands dollar figures that deem her worthy of production and merit to invest.

Lot 29 is from the Sullivan Farms owned, KDJ Queen Ruth 608 which is the full sister to “502”. So, it’s a no-brainer to roll with this mating choice. It appears that the results are somewhat similar as one evaluates SULL Queen Ruth 3643L. This late October born female is very correct and so complete as one evaluates her. She is most definitely suitable in her bone work, and desirable in both body design and shape. The only pressure here is to decide how badly you want one bred like this and if you have the mindset to stay the course and allow on to return on your investment after her show career is completed. A true example of why “genetics don’t cost, they only pay.”

KCC Forever Lady 64G was successfully campaigned by our oldest son in the 2020 and 2021 Texas Major Show scene. This donor dam compiled quite the donor resume for the times, and she continues those claims with her fall-born division in her freshman year of embryo calf production. 845L delivers the goods for flexibility, body shape, and overall build. We believe that she is of substantial quality and should be able to deliver like her dam did when it comes to the hardware. We like the Angus offering very well and strongly believe that it is as loaded with cow family presence and quality as one can have in one setting. Lot 30 is a member of the 44 Primrose 6937 tribe owned by Joseph and Erica Blount. 6837’s daughters have campaigned with much success to include the 2021 Cowgirls in Cowtown Champion Angus female exhibited by the Kelly family. This high-quality, stunning daughter of KR Casino 6243 is true to her sire group as she comes with a fault-free build, and the extra rib shape is complimented by her dam with added look and presence from the maternal influence of the Primrose family. This female has the potential to do it all as she will be highly competitive on the show road with after tanbark bonuses in terms of balanced production records and the longevity in build to produce your next several youth projects or donor dams. What an exclusive opportunity to acquire one of the very elites from 1 Eleven Cattle! A female from one of the best-producing donor dams on the ranch, ELVN 210. Not too long ago, the outfit partnered to sell a daughter of DUEL Icon with the Fitzsimmons Family of Oklahoma for $45,000. That same female went on to produce the 2024 Reserve Champion Female at OYE for the Pembroke Family. With that said, Trey and Eric have been keeping the progeny close to home with only two daughters of the cow family to change zip codes, the one selling and the one who sold through the Fitzsimmons Family, that’s it.

Exclusivity is the key to successful marketing and when they are this good, why wouldn’t you want to keep it that way If she were yours? Opportunity presents itself as a broken record but in a different breed, again not trying to raise show heifers, but good livestock that can be competitively exhibited and generate when in production, we won’t accept anything less. JEREMIAH VICTOR COLON

sometimes referred to as “JV”, has been on board for three years. He is one of the really good people in the business out on the road that you can trust with your family. Jeremy is dedicated to his job and rides hard for the brand. We are heavily biased, but we believe him to be very talented when it comes to preparing stock for sale or show. His passion and perseverance to be considered one of the best of the best is what drives him day to day. We could not do any of this without him and we dearly appreciate his time and commitment.

WYATT BAKER ADRIAN MARMOLEJO

has been with us for nearly a year and a half but worked with us during his high school years and off and on between semesters at college. Wyatt can be trusted with any asset, from equipment to stock, and your family! He is very loyal, he is very diligent, and he is incredibly responsible. Mr. Baker will do anything we ask of him as he rides hard for the brand as well. He is truly a great asset to this operation, and we appreciate all of his sacrifice, time, and work ethic each day.

is a young man who has helped us through the past 90-plus days. Adrian and his father, Francisco, have been customers and friends of the family for several years. They were introduced to us by Johnson County’s finest builder of pools, Mr. David Welty. Adrian has a passion for the veterinary side of animal husbandry. We hope that we have provided him with a building block to achieve his goals. You won’t find a hand with a more positive attitude that is not afraid to be introduced to new things or ideas. He has truly been a great privilege to have on board and we certainly appreciate his punctuality and approach to the daily grind.

It was a historic couple of days for the Werning programs when Harrell W/C Angel 7111E and her flush sisters would have been born. No one with any common sense would be able to come remotely close to estimating the dollars in lifetime earnings that the set of W/C Relentless 32C x W/C Miss Angel 2870Z daughters were bound to generate. Here we have the fourth member of the quartet that have been such a potent foundation towards many of the success stories to come out of the Werning and Jared Werning programs over the past couple of years.

W/C Angel 7113E, is female who accomplished more in her first set of ET calves than some females do in a lifetime.  She is best recognized as the dam of W/C Bet on Red 481H, the record setting red stud that sold for $192,500 to Griswold Cattle Company and Maple Lane Farms. The combination of phenotype, pedigree, and presence that comes from the 7113E influence has become quickly evident, and proved once again in 2024 when she generated the $75,000 Wheatland Cattle purchase, JWC 2/F Living Proof 283L. A half interest in W/C Angel 7113E sold in the 2022 Embryos on Snow to King & Hicks for $120,000.

7114E is proving to be one of the most consistent generating females in the JWC program, producing with surefire reliability and impressing in production regardless of sire choice whether it be purebred, composite or club calf matings. You will also recognize her as the dam of the high selling lot in their 2023 Production Sale, a $43,000 half interest bred heifer that Harrell Cattle Company of Illinois purchased. A half interest in another daughter sired by WLE Copacetic E02 sold for $36,000 in the 2024 Production Sale. The third of the sisters found her first recognition in the show ring, W/C Harrell Angel 7110E was competitive during the 2019 show season for Sara Sullivan where she was selected as the AJSA National Classic 3rd Overall Purebred Heifer. Now in production, 7110E has continued the hype as one of the absolute most consistent and reliable producing daughters of the great 2870Z with sons and daughters highlighting the JWC production sales annually and being selected by stockmen with a savvy eye for phenotypic quality. A daughter of 7110E sired by W/C Fort Knox 609D sold for $32,000 in the 2024 JWC Production Sale.

You will struggle to find a family tree with as much success and notoriety than you will find here. Even though the rap sheet already glitters here, just know that what you read above is just scratching the surface of what the cow family in support has achieved in this business. The two most direct females in the maternal pedigree here are approaching $10 million in life time earnings, and there seems to be no slowing down in sight. This is a legacy building kind of female that is set for massive ROI opportunities.

Brandon Bird has always had an eye for quality. He shows no fear when he decides to own one, be it a steer for his daughters to show, a bull to promote, and turn out in the absolute toughest environments known to any specimen with a hoof, or the next elite donor regardless of breed affiliation, if it’s quality livestock. He knows about it, he will engage in ownership. His acquisition of the now deceased Duello Brokers Lucy 4114 was certainly trademark to his investment form as he won the bidding contest at the 2016 edition of the Western Elite Offering hosted by Dr. Dave Duello in conjunction with the National Western Stock Show. The man behind the mating decision is of equal or greater value in my opinion as the good doctor has always had as much organic ability to evaluate cattle as any one person in the entire industry.

The mating to the record selling KCC1 Exclusive 116E was simple, methodical, and rational all at once. Keep in mind that this is still when good cattle were good livestock and the freak show requirements and imagination hadn’t yet begun. Both parents of this genetic equation with bold and dense in their center body shape, both had textbook, killer hind legs, each of them was big and square in their pin placement, deep in their quarter and twist design, and both were ahead of the curve for hoof size, shape, and depth of heel, and both were very easy to look at and evaluate.

JCBB Lady Gaga G9453, as a heifer calf and yearling maintained a stout, threedimensional, high-tying presence with extraskeletal width in comparison to her contemporaries. She is without question one of the ideal SimGenetic females of present day in terms of her overall build and kind. There would be so many bulls that should mate up quite well with this diamond in the rough and the earning potential should be limitless without a cap. Do not discount this female for lack of production history or banner earners to her credit. She has been in a very good home as far as management and care and has her whole career in front of her. Whoever invests in this female will have zero regrets and they will never look back as she is the kind that is needed for today’s available genetics selection.

DUELLO BROKERS LUCY 4114 - Donor dam of Lot 33

We initiate the Bred Heifer division with one that I have always been a fan of. I do look forward to every daughter of KCC1 Havana 83E that we have the privilege to raise as our partner likes to hoard those embryos in his direction and understandably so. Zach made this mating one day because Graham Blagg said that he had heard that the cattle by Conley Express 7211 were getting a ton of praise. 83E was a pinch light on oocyte count on this aspiration and I believe that this is the only one of her genetic equation. Some may ask, if this is the only one why are you selling her then the answer is that I wanted to see what the general public thought when we hold nothing back in our fall program. This offering is every single heifer calf and every fall-bred female that we have including the ones the boys showed as calves a year ago in Des Moines. This female made the trip to the AJSA National Classic last summer and was competitive. We were not mature or fat enough, but she gave the top 4 of the class hell for hair quality and balance.

I truly believe in this animal and what she will offer or contribute to any program of any affiliation. If you enjoy good livestock from great cow families, then this one should be on your shortlist. The dominance of the Havana 83E donor dam is recognized for all practical purposes in our program and her program of origin at Kearns Cattle Company. The cattle are just better in every category of evaluation and as she and her daughters continue to produce bulls that are worthy of any seedstock breeder’s investment, her influence will begin to take hold. This one is for those who are committed and serious about making cattle to impact the breed phenotypically and improve any program she is introduced to.

She sells safe to the blaze-faced Perfect Vision sired son of the full sister to Pay the Price C11, 3BCC Kash Money L21 for an early return on investment.

OMF Hard Right H21 was the high-selling sale feature for the Oak Meadows firm in 2021 as the $60,000 selection of Hartman Cattle Company and CK Cattle Company. When H21 clicks with a mating they are as good as the best ones in the country, much like the quality and kind of SWC KCC1 Havana 967K. This female has had absolutely no added care or pampering in her lifetime in Johnson County. She has been on grass and hustled her entire life with very minimal supplementation until the past 60 days in preparation for this sale. She, like many in this bred pen, has jumped through the hoops and the sorts to get to this point. The retention value of this female is very high, but in the commitment to offer every one of them, she lands a spot in this sale book. Her breeding value for those who are in the bull business is unrivaled in this offering as well. However, we know that given the production history of her dam, when mated right, she should be able to shell out those higher dollar-valued open heifers as well. With one like her, bred like she is, that one bull calf could also propel one to another tax bracket. We did miss this female in the breeding box on A.I. day but the calf she is carrying by 3BCC Kash Money L21 could be one of those high-rent, blaze-faced heifer calves or a herd sire alike.

This daughter of THSF Lover Boy B33 is saturated in SimGenetic royalty. Both her dam and granddam were very competitive, national champion caliber females for Sara Sullivan. The influence of the great DAF Reba C85 is unmatched by any other SimGenetic female in existence. Her impact on the Sullivan Farms Program and those who have invested in her genetics throughout her career, recognize and understand what the cow family can offer to any outfit.

2543K is one of the loosest built, freest moving females in the offering. She is tremendous in her center body shape, wide in her pin set, true from her hock to the ground, with incomparable flexibility in motion. This three-quarter-blooded female has the potential to raise the next influential individual or multiple individuals that could impact the business. Her disposition is suitable for exhibition, and we strongly encourage you to consider her for your summer shows as we believe she could compete at a very high level. Show broke and safe in calf to the exciting Circle M Farms percentage brother to “Eminence” and “Private Stock”, RP-BCR Insight G302 for a quick return on investment.

We love the features that this female offers. She has always been one on the outside edge of being too much and maybe for some yet today. To say that she is wildnecked, may be an understatement as it is very long and very chiseled for one that has the center body shape that she adds to her phenotypic advantage. Not only is she bold and open in her rib cage, but she too is also extraordinarily long bodied as well. 2601K has always maintained a ghetto status from behind in combination with an extra amount of true base width without sacrificing flexibility or her skeletal integrity. She is a direct daughter of the past manytime champion for Sara Sullivan, DAF Reba C85. We do realize the common occurrence of the availability of this mating and multiple others from the confines of Dunlap, Iowa, but I do believe this one to be somewhat unique in comparison to most of her sisters. Certainly, we have not done this female justice in terms of exhibition. She needs to get down the road to a state, regional, and junior national show. Her disposition is awesome, and she has been shown. The service she carries to the $450,000 3BCC KCC1 Krypton is an even more intriguing option as we expect great things from this young sire.

This female has been exhibited multiple times by our youngest son, Burke. We recommend this female to any exhibitor of any age without hesitation! She is the last natural calf born on the place from the $23000 SWC HOC Annie K 214C who was selected in the 2023 edition of

The Spring Sort by the Howell family of Mt. Calm, Texas. This female has maternal sisters by W/C Red Bird 269J that sell as lots 6, 7, and 8. The quality and influence of the awesome ACW Annie K 330Y cow family is evident and noted.

614K is a definite breeding piece, the kind to build a program around just as we have done with her dam and maternal granddam. The predictability of kind and the return that these females offer is reliable and will keep an outfit in business for the years ahead.

SO Remedy 7F continues to be one of the more popular sires in the land as he consistently sires cattle that are high quality with impeccable running gear, near-perfect body shape, and a presence of stellar status.

“Remedy” back on a direct daughter of Mr CCF 20-20 proved to be true to form as one engages in evaluation of lot 38. The Berlowitz Family of Oklahoma found this one in their travels and sent her to us. She continues to impress the team here at SWC daily, especially since she settled A.I. A competitive senior yearling in the making with a high tying front third, a robust rib shape, plenty of hip and quarter, and a stout set of feet and legs that are very correct in their set and when asked to travel. We are very proud of the Angus cattle that are in this offering regardless of maturity or pregnancy status, we like them. This female was our selection from the Trent Ray program and has fulfilled every reason why we tied into her, if she had bred to calve in the Spring she would not be in this sale or for sale, but here again, every fall bred female is in this sale book.

In her first time out at Rodeo Austin in 2023, she was a class winner and a division contender for Bodie Shipman. At the 2023 Texas Junior Angus State Show she went on to be Reserve Champion Female overall as well as Reserve Champion honors at the Heart of Texas Fair this past fall. K42 is a big haired, big-bodied, great boned, good footed Angus female that is super correct with utmost skeletal quality. She is from one of the very best, up and coming young donors in the T/R lineup. Invest with confidence in your next future Angus donor dam that has the credentials to produce those awesome, high demand Angus and SimAngus females alike as she is without question one of the unique breeding pieces of the offering.

A female that would be a maternal sister to lots 28 and 29 in the open division sired by one of the very best, modern day sires from the Bill and Donna Conley program, BC Robust 0807. BC Robust 0807 would also be the sire of the dam that produced the recent $100,000 herd sire prospect for Conley Cattle of Oklahoma. It is easy to say that the stock carrying the influence of 0807 will be the producing kind with the built-in longevity to remain in any discriminating operation for years to come. This youthful senior yearling female is the 2023 Reserve Champion Bred and Owned female of the Texas Junior Angus Association’s State Show. Her dam is the 2021 Supreme British Female of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. I found this female at Kyle Conley’s last fall on his big and successful female sale. She is sired by Conley Verified 0863 a direct son of the predictable and proven Mill Brae Identified 4031 and from one of the two very best SimGenetic cow families in the Conley program. She maintains a stout, brood cow look, with plenty of body and mass from end to end. This creature is certainly cowy and flexible in her kind and should prove to be a force in producing breed influencing cattle with a focus on the end product. She sells with the service to the $100,000 Bridle Bit Recharge K256 and the planned mating indicates that the resulting herdsire prospect that she is carrying will rank in the top 10% for REA and CW, the top 15% for WW, YW, and ADG, and the top 20 % for TI and MWW.

We know what lots 42 and 43 should be able to contribute to the industry and the value of performance and the ultimate end product. Lot 43 is somewhat of a generation success story when it comes to the cattle offered through The Spring Sort sale series. Her dam was high high-selling sale feature in the 2021 version of The Spring Sort selected by the DeBerry Family of Olton, Texas. That summer, SWC NFFS Wicked Hanna 825H was selected in the top 5 of the fall calf division at the 2021 AJSA Summer Classic where she made the final top 20 of the entire show as well. Brandon’s dad had bought many outstanding sires over the years from 44Farms so make sure their purchase was bred far enough along to have that competitive edge, the natural service to the EXAR Monumental 6056B son was the path of choice. The DeBerry Family then offered 921K through last year’s sale and here we are again. Each time I evaluate this female, I kick myself for not feeding her to show. I do believe that she has the high-end phenotype that many of the big-numbered, high-indexing, high marbling cattle lack. She would be an awesome candidate for a Phenotype and Genotype show scenario like the Angus have. She does carry the service to the $100,000 Bridle Bit Recharge K256 and we expect a huge return on the way as her planned mating indicates that the herd sire on board will chart in the top 4% for REA, the top 5% for CW, the top 10% for YW, ADG, and MCE, the top 15% for MWW, the top 10% for CE, WW, Milk, and TI, and the top 25% for API as well.

SANDEEN DONNA 7838

Dam of Lots 44 and 45

Sandeen Donna 7838E was the Seale Show Cattle and Shipwreck Cattle Company selection from the Building a Brand Production Sale at Sandeen Genetics in 2019. We both agreed that she was the one who put it all together for what we both thought we were looking for in a donor dam. Still today she will make you stop and take notice as she is one of the longest necked, most alert cows in the program. This is blended with a beautiful, long rib shape, and running gear that will keep her in the game for years to come.

The mating to the 2021 Reserve National Champion of the Cattleman’s Congress, WHF/JS/ CCS Double Up G365, is quite possibly her best yet! A female that favors the robust shape of center body and genuine width from behind as her sire but yet maintains the elegance necessary to be considered feminine and maternal in her kind.

The natural calf by our JS Black Satin “Boots” son, GCC Black Dew 161H, is not much different in build and kind than her maternal sister. 838K is a shorter backed, big centered, big ended female with an impeccable set of running gear and awesome foot quality as well. The influence of OMF Epic E27 and his service is one of longevity given his age and with the overwhelming amount of male progeny that continue to highlight sales and breeding programs across the nation. He may certainly go down in the history books as one of the “GOATs” as he continually sires cattle that have flawless form, genuine shape, and the same quality look and balance across the sire group. This female is from a very attractive daughter of DMCC Counter Attack 8C with the influence of Profit and “056” that was purchased through the Black Label. E27 put a set of britches on this female with his influence as she may be the stoutest and widest built of this bred offering. She sells, most likely safe in calf to the exciting son of SO Remedy 7F, SFI In Charge K28! His spring calf reports have been very good and we expect nothing but excellence when she calves this fall.

JBSF BERWICK 41F Sire of Lot 47

JBSF Berwick 41F is a sire that should see more use, especially after calving some of his daughters out. Even with the popularity of IVF, we still need productive, good uddered cows with added advantages for fertility and maternal instinct like the direct daughters we have calved. Plus, it’s known that he can sire cattle that win on all levels, and they come with more power than one would expect as well. 992K has certainly been a standout in terms of her balance and build as she has the necessary rib and muscle shape with awesome feet and a desired pattern and design better than one can draw. She’s a star-headed female from a very productive daughter of Mr. TR Hammer 308A and back to the same foundation cow family responsible for lot 42.

905K

KCC1 COUNTERTIME 872H Sire of Lot 48

KCC1 Countertime 872H is a sire that will experience more use as time passes and breeders begin to realize the value of the stacked set of cows that runs four generations within his lineage. The maturity pattern of this sire group tends to be at a later stage, but I promise and guarantee you that you will become a huge fan of the udder quality and maternal dominance these daughters will have in production especially when they are from a proven and predictable cow family such as this one. WLTR Shania 5E was a past sale feature for Walters Cattle Company in The Black Label sale series. She was selected by Ryan Fussell and remains in the F4 program yet today as one of their leading donors. The quality runs deep and the predictability is certain.

KR Savannah 0923 was our selection from the Krebs Ranch fall-born heifer calf sale in the Spring of 2021. A daughter of KR Mojo from the same cow family who produced KR Casino 6243 and many other great industry leaders for the Krebs Ranch and Kearns Cattle Company programs of northwest Nebraska. We sold 0923 in the 2023 edition of The Spring Sort to the Tostenson family of Highmore, South Dakota and they are very satisfied with the bull calf by S&R Stability she had on board. Lot 49 is sired by a bull that was jointly owned by C-4 Cattle of Oklahoma and the Bill and Donna Conley program of Missouri. BC-4 Eternity 7018 met an untimely demise so his progeny records are a bit slim in number, but they are high in quality. He would have changed the game on the calving ease sire selection in the business had cattlemen had the opportunity to learn and experience the value of his service. This female reads to be the low input kind as she is moderate in size and modern in design with more than enough rib and durability to withstand the pressures of production and dollar generation.

Yes, this would be a pair of maternal sisters to the now deceased Triple Crown winning female known as “Boots” with a registered namesake of JS Black Satin 9B. Countless full and maternal sisters have highlighted the JS Simmental Midwest Made sale series and many of those are staying true to their mother’s ability to produce cattle that are not only competitive but cattle that generate financial advantages for those who own them. I certainly did this lead off bred female from Ken and Jay. She is built true to her genetic equation with the size and shear power from the elite 59Y and the natural width, rib shape, and density from her proven sire, WHF/JS/CCS Double Up G365. Her foot size, flexibility, and genuine base width with unmatched predictability are reasons enough to tie into this great female.

The contribution to the program based in Prairie City, Iowa is proven and documented as her positive impact will influence the future generations of high-quality seedstock produced by the family venture. 78K is one of the dominating phenotype females of the entire set from JS. She is moderate, but modern in her kind with a stellar set of running gear. This square built, dense bodied female is pure and simple good livestock. In my personal opinion, she may be one of the very best from CLRS Dairy Queen 606D.

“Dairy Queen” was certainly an outlier for both phenotype and numeric profit drivers when acquired from the Clear Springs operation. She fit the bill for the progressive mindset of the upper management team for JS Simmental. The proven donor dam has been mated multiple ways and each proved to be dollar generating. The mating to the son of EGL Firesteel 103F from the other proven matriarch in the JS program, WHF/JS/CCS Woodford J001, should complement this jet black future donor prospect quite well. 80K represents a pair of sisters who surface to the top in this set of fall-calving two-year-olds. She maintains a significant brood cow presence with a killer hind leg as well.

Gateway Follow Me F163 is built so well from the ground up and he transmits the extra hoof size, bone, and athletic ability to each one that he sires. He definitely complimented the big numbered matriarch in this next trio of sisters.

Lot 55 and 56 could be accused of being split embryo twins as they are insanely similar. Lot 55 hits the surface big and true and she does have the advantage with a touch more heel to her fault free toe design that allows her the foundational flexibility. She comes with a beautiful hind leg, a stellar, high tying, feminine featured front third, plenty of center body depth, and a textbook pin set suitable for most livestock evaluators that know.

This pair of maternal sisters would be from the GGC/JS Andie 369F donor dam who is the CDI Innovator 325D sired maternal sister to the Queen of all donor females in Prairie City, WHF Summer 365C. We do think very highly of the quality and kind that 369F continues to produce and we feel that there is certainly a bright future for the young donor dam. Lot 59 bears the influence of JSUL Something About Mary 8421 with a big impact at the surface with substance and shape of bone to match. We conclude this offering of live cattle with a direct daughter of the many time champion, WHF Summer 365C sired by ES Right Time FA110-4. A mating that is proven to enhance maternal instinct, fertility, overall production, and longevity. The FA1104 daughters in production are and will continue to raise cattle that will surface towards the top of their contemporaries for visual performance and weight per day of age without sacrificing quality. This female carries two dominant cow families in the business while representing three programs with substantial longevity and contribution to the Simmental breed and the beef industry. Besides the Steenhoek tribe, the Allen and Eichacker families have all written their own pages in the Simmental archives and will continue to do so through generational turnover. 62K is a very productive and functionally built female with plenty of body shape and should prove to be the low input, low maintenance, big calf raising kind.

UDE Barb Rose 126G has done incredible things for our family, most notably was raising the $25,000 Relentless daughter which sold in the 2022 Black Label. We feel however, her true potential is yet to be reached. With limited recip cows in our program we have not been able to push 126Gs limits and gain the number of offspring to see what she can truly do. I have high hopes for the Next Level sired mating currently waiting to pop in mid-June and her new owner should expect a quick return on investment. 126G is the WS Pilgrim H182U sired daughter of Harrell Barb Rose 313A, the many-times champion campaigned by the Udell family.
