36th Annual Production Sale
MARCH 13, 2026
12:30 P.M. CST IN PARADISE, KANSAS

Welcome to our 36th Spring Production Sale. We look forward to this time each year, to get the chance to reconnect with many old friends that we don’t see often enough and make new friends.
Our cattle management transition is now pretty much complete. We are not starting to calve until later in March in the Spring, then allowing the bull calves after weaning to grow more naturally not fattened early. The bulls are then offered for sale at 18 to 24 months old. This certainly adds to their soundness and longevity later in life. We think this is the soundest and deepest set of bulls that we have ever offered!

Check out the great set of females offered from out herd and some of our good customers cattle. It is a great time to increase your herd with some proven genetics. As always, the cattle are backed by the Bar S guarantee.
Thank you for coming,

Exciting times in the beef cattle industry have been on a record pace for the past couple of years, and the horizon is filled with much more of the same. Demand for the end product has never been higher or more significant than it is today. So the quest to improve genetics and advance one’s breeding program has never been more relevant. As beef producers, we have improved our product over the years, increasing red meat yield while maintaining the same quality grade, but the biggest attribute in play for nearly a decade has been the increase in our hot carcass weights, as the cattle harvested have shown that we can produce more pounds per head of product than ever before.
Our U.S. cow herd is at an all-time low! The surging weekly markets encourage many to take advantage of high prices for all classes of cattle, but the necessary part of the equation, the replacement female, is in very short supply, as many heifers in the country are being fed for harvest instead of restocking the herd. To build and expand, one must seek genetics suitable for heifer retention and be disciplined in the sorting process. Sure, it’s easy to take a check today, but where will that check be in two years when you should have retained those top-end replacement prospects? If your program is terminal in nature, then one must clearly establish a relationship with a female source to ensure longevity and profitability in the business. Those who have females in volume will be rewarded in the years ahead, just as those who have feeder and fed cattle are being rewarded today. Many experienced experts say that total cow numbers are at ideal levels to encourage demand, but we still encourage producers to never accept the status quo when it comes to longevity and profitability in the industry.
Bar S Ranch is a multi-generational ranching institution nestled in what we will call central western Kansas, in outstanding western range country. The native grasses and the land are ideal for beef production, with tillable acres available for feed production to support any ranching endeavor. Ken Stielow is one of the great American ranchers who has withstood adversity, endured the worst of times, and thrived while keeping everything together to pass on to the next generations, who are a big part of the ranch workforce today. The reputation of this ranching operation is sacred and unrivaled, built on integrity, firm handshakes, and strong words that are as binding as paper and ink.

Many of you who are reading this sale book are already familiar with the families behind the brand, but for those who are new to this annual production sale, you need to know that these cattle are managed with a limited-input mindset and practices. The cow herd must maintain itself with the resources Mother Nature provides, with limited supplementation throughout the year. The productive females are expected to calve unassisted on grass, wean a big calf, and breed back within the slated calving window the following season. Hoof quality, udder quality, skeletal integrity, and fleshing ability are survival tools for remaining in the working cow herd over time. Longevity is essential for any operation to be profitable, and so the working girls within the barbed wire of the brand are the kind that keep the loyal customer base returning year after year. The grit and the ability to acclimate to any environment or terrain that is inclusive of the cattle carrying the “Bar S” drive demand for the product year after year. They run them as tough as any commercial outfit in the nation, and that is a fact.
This bull offering consists only of two-year-old and eighteen-month-old bulls developed with longevity in mind. Each bull has passed a Breeding Soundness Exam, withstood the pressures and challenges of the arid climate, and knows how to survive and adjust when turned out. This set of bulls will have the genetics and the instinct to handle large numbers of cows and leave you a set of calves that should fit both terminal and maternal needs. The females listed in this sale book represent one of the hardest-working cowherds in America, so you can rest assured that your investment is in a program and genetics that will return those dollars.
We invite you all to attend the annual Bar S Ranch Production Sale on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 12:30 P.M. A great sale-day lunch will be provided, and the hospitality will be second to none. If you would like to schedule a pre-sale ranch visit to view the cattle, please reach out to David Dickerson. If you need any additional information, assistance with selection, or sight-unseen purchasing, feel free to reach out to any member of the Innovation AgMarketing team.
Thank you for your interest!
