General Information PART I P URPOSE Dr. 1Iartin Luther College, now in the sei.-enty-secon<l year of its existence, has witnessed man~- changes, in perso11nel, plant, faciliLies. I t does this by training suc-h as mil act.iYely work in the church as pastors and teachers as well as such as will be found among the laity.

Dr. 1I arti.n L uther Co_llege is in reality a combination school, consisting of a preparatory and a colJege department. T he highschool has a triple function. Tt u!Ters courses preparator~· for future ministerial training, both in the public ministry and in the teachin~ ministry in our L utheran day schools, and a ~eneral high-school course.

The college department trains exclusi,·ely for the teaching ministry. Its graduates are specially prepared for the ministry of the , Yord in our Lutheran da~- schools.

ADMINISTRA TION

Dr. )fartin Luther College is owned and operated by the E-rnngelical Lutheran Joint S;rnod of ,Yisconsi.n and Other States. This church bod~has its headquarters at 1Iilwaukee, ,Yisconsin.

The admini.<:lration of Dr. ~ artin Luther CoHcgc the aboYcmcntioncd Synod has Yested in a board of regents, elected by the Synod itself. T his board consists of three pastors, two male teachers, and two laymen.

T he board of regents has charge of the calling of professors and deans, the final decision reganling the curriculum, the purchase of properly, the erection and upkeep of buildings, Lhc Pstablishing of policies under which the institution is to operate.

In general, it functions as the connecting link betweep the school and the S:ynod.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS Although the college discriminates against no one who is in sympathy with its objective, it must giYe primary consideration to tliose students, who, as mer11bers of the church., support th.t> school, and mnsL give prefert>nce to those who intend to prepare themscln~s for th.e tearhing ministry. .

The Summer School participates in Lhi,, airn. I ts course-!' arc designed especially for former graduates aud for those sen·ing as emergency teachers in our Lutheran schools.
