GENERAL INFORMATION Dr. ~lartin Lui.her College was founded in the year 1884, by the German fa·angelical Lutheran Synod of ~finnesota, mainly with a view to supply minHistory isters of the Gospel for the mission fields of that church body. Besides the theological, the institution provided for a normal, a classical, and an academic training.

Jn the year 1893, the 3{irme;;ota Synod combined wi th the Synods of \Visconsin and ~fichigan to form a Joint Synod. Dr. Mar tin L uther College was then changed into a Lutheran normal school with a lwo-ycars' course and with a three-years' preparatory department. - A commercial course, \\ hid, originally had also been offered, was discontinued in 19()1 by resolution of the Joint Synod.

This building is so arranged that the basement is used entirely for s1orage. with the e..xception of the space nece~sary for a laundry for college linen_ The first floor offers the ki1cht>n and the boys' and girls' di11ing rooms, and the second and the third floors are used as li,·ing quarters for lhe ~teward and his family and for the maids. In aJdition, thi~ building contains hospital roor.1s ,, ith all the necessary facilities.

Boys' lJoR:i.11roRY. This dormitory, a four-story fireproof building, modern in every respect, can accommodate about 130 pupils. The Ii, in!! room, and ,kcpin)!; room, are supplied with electric light and steam heat. ln each srory of the building are wash rooms with complete toilet arrangements.

G1R1-s' DoR,IJTORIE,. By action of the Joint Synod of 'Nisconsin and Other States, the former director's residence was converted into a gir l's dormitory. This spacious fifteen-room hou5c affords dormitory facilities for thirty girls.

* GEN1':RAI. EoucATIOX. Although our ~chool is not accredited, it offers to young people an excellent opportunity for perfecting their high school education. We claim a positive superiority for our school because all government and instruction are of a distinctly Christian character.

In order to be eligible fur competitive athletics a students must meet the eligibility requirements of the Southern ~linnesota Junior College Conference.

This rule is necessary in order to guard against the influence of unscrupulous persons and concerns who especially attempt to reach students with their demoralizing letters and printed matter. Parents and guardians, in sending pupils to this institurion, thereby give tl1eir consent to this rule. This also includes sh1dents who are of age.

The expense for board as well as for fuel is figured quite low for divinity students, the synod being ready to make up in cash all shortage in the household.
