PREFATORY REMARKS.
The Teachers' Seminary of Dr. Martin Luther College at New Ulm, Minn., is organized under a. resolution of the General Evangelical-Lutheran Synod of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, and other States. It is supported by voluntary contributions from the congregations belonging to that body.
The organization of the Seminary was prompted by
the necessity of supplying Lutheran parochial schools in the Northwest with competent teachers, and this consideration primarily governs the selection of branches to be taught, and the determination of the ends to be attained.
At the
same time, the two lower preparatory classes offer a course which will afford sufficient training for entering the third preparatory class of any college for the purpo¡se of completing a classical course. Finally, by arranging an extra course in book-keeping for such students as desire it, the institution affords desiraqle opportunities to prepare for business life.

GENERAL INFORMATION. DR. MARTIN LUTHER COLLEGE was erected A. D. 1884 by the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Minnesota and other States, and is situated in the southwestern part of the city of New Ulm, Minn. The location is healthy and very beau tiful, as the college-building is surrounded by a fine natural park and lies upon a wooded bluff which affords a charming view of the town and a portion of the valley of the Min nesota River. Board and lodging may be obtained in the college-build ing at the following rates : - $32.00 For the first term For the second and third terms each $24.00

The charges for tuition are as follows : - $12.75 For the first term For the second and third terms each $10.75 Music lessons are charged for extra at the rate of 50 Cts. each. It is the wish of the faculty that all scholars enter at the beginning of the school-year and remain to the end of the third term, in order to secure substantial returns for their labor. As our course is laid out on a plan which embraces the entire scholastic year, a stay of shorter duration will al ways result in fragmentary gains only. Still, if for any reason a student is prevented from attending our school for the entire time specified in the calendar, board and tuition will be computed for him at rates closely approaching those given above. All Students who have the bona fide intention of enter ing the service of the Church as teachers of LUTHERN PARO� CHIAL SCHOOLS, pay no tuition and are furnished board at reduced rates. Every student is required to take up all branches studied by the class to which he has been assigned, the only excep tion being the study of Latin which may be omitted, if desired.
