I’m excited to share the 2024-25 annual report for the VCU School of Education.
We are at a pivotal time that positions us for our next chapter. Since joining the school in March, I have witnessed firsthand the energy, expertise and deep sense of purpose that define this community. Every day, our faculty, staff, students and partners reaffirm what I have long believed: Education is transformative and it unlocks potential, fuels progress and builds stronger communities.
In looking to the future, we are recalibrating our strategic plan to elevate interprofessional collaboration, enhance partnerships across the campus and state and strengthen the populations we serve. We will continue to lead with courage, creativity and purpose as we expand opportunities for innovation and ensure that our students have the tools and support they need to unlock their full potential.

Each year, the school launches new degree or certificate programs, develops effective leaders in education and a variety of industry organizations, and prepares people to deliver important services within our community, including for those with special needs. 703
Leading Edge Research
School of Education faculty and programs generated nearly $38.5 million in new sponsored funding for fiscal year 2025. This represented 7% of total funding across VCU, including the medical school and campus.
Our faculty are advancing practical solutions to urgent questions facing schools and communities. Together, VCU is generating insights that inform policy, shape classroom practice and strengthen systems that support students and families.
National Rankings
Our School of Education is about people, but numbers help to demonstrate how we are making a transformational impact in the various communities we serve. We also are providing meaningful contributions to the broader impact of Virginia Commonwealth University — and its national and global reputation — every day.
Exponential Giving
In the past decade, generous support from our donors has led to phenomenal growth in the School of Education endowment.
At our 50-year mark, our endowment had just topped $2 million. At the close of FY25, that fund stood at more than $11 million.
Growing the endowment means growing an important source of direct support for our students and faculty. In the past decade, we’ve gone from receiving an annual payout of under $100,000 to now over $500,000.
