Chris’s Chat
I always find the beginning of a new year hard. The excitement of Christmas and New Year over. Then it feels like weeks of cold dark wet weather. Also, for all at MK CIL it was a sad time the last goodbye to Valerie Williamson BEM our dear friend and MK CIL Trustee. I have been to two events that interested me. The first was Community Action Volunteering Fair, it was held in the City Centre. Lots of organisations and charities attended. All that were there were saying there was a shortage of volunteers at the moment. It was worth attending to find out more about the people that were there. Lots of our leaflets were taken so we can only hope. The second event was the launch of the 11th edition of Vital Signs by MK Community Foundation. If you go to the Foundation website: Milton Keynes Community Foundation | Funding Fairness (mkcommunityfoundation.co.uk) you can download it, it’s an interesting read. The event was very well attended, even more so as it was an 8.30am start. The launch was held at the Auditorium Unity Place. The building was wheelchair accessible, you had to have security everywhere you went and you were only able to use certain lifts. It seemed ages to get to a short distance. I am looking forward to the Spring daffodils and warmer weather for all of us. Chris Checkley, Chair MK CIL
