As 2024 draws to a close, I find myself reflecting not just on the year we’ve had but on the incredible journey of the past four decades. This year marks my 40th year at Michael Jones Jeweller. As I look back, I am truly humbled by how much has changed, how far we’ve come and how your loyalty has been at the heart of it all.
When I first joined Michael Jones Jeweller in 1984, I couldn’t have imagined the journey ahead. Over the decades, I’ve witnessed firsthand how the landscape of luxury jewellery and watches has transformed. Our company, too, has embraced these changes, continuously adapting to meet the evolving tastes and expectations of our customers whilst staying true to our core values of excellence and integrity.
This year, 2024, has been one of our most significant yet. Our Gold Street showroom in Northampton underwent a major expansion and refurbishment, creating a space that not only embodies modern luxury but also maintains the warmth and character we’ve always been known for. The feedback has been incredibly positive and it is my hope that this refreshed showroom will continue to be a place where memories are made and celebrations begin.
As I reflect on these past 40 years, I’m filled with immense gratitude for the opportunities I’ve had to grow alongside this company. Michael Jones Jeweller is more than a business to me - it’s a family, a legacy and a symbol of everything that can be achieved with dedication, passion and strong values. 2024 marks the culmination of an incredible four-year journey of transformation at Michael Jones Jeweller with the expansion and refurbishment of all three of our showrooms. We are immensely proud of our flagship showroom at One Gold Street which was the last store to be redeveloped and is the jewel in our crown.
The newly transformed Gold Street showroom is a true masterpiece. Combining modern sophistication with timeless elegance, it sets a new standard for retail in Northampton. At the heart of the showroom is the breathtaking two-storey Rolex area - a true sanctuary for watch enthusiasts. Beyond our extensive collection of watches, we have new dedicated spaces for our curated selection of fine jewellery. Georg Jensen, a name synonymous with exceptional craftsmanship and timeless elegance, proudly presents the latest additions to its cherished Moonlight Grapes collection. Released in August 2024, this reworked and reinterpreted collection continues to captivate with its versatile and sophisticated designs, honouring the iconic grape motif that has been a hallmark of Georg Jensen's artistry for over a century.
Rooted deeply in Georg Jensen's illustrious archive, the Moonlight Grapes collection strikes a harmonious balance between tradition and modernity. The collection draws inspiration from the grape-shaped motifs that adorned Georg Jensen’s early works from the 1910s. This artistic lineage began with the silver Grape Bowl designed in 1918, an Art Nouveau masterpiece that set the stage for the Moonlight Grapes collection’s evolution into a modern jewellery line.
First introduced in 2010, the Moonlight Grapes collection pays homage to Georg Jensen’s history while presenting a fresh, contemporary interpretation of the grape motif. The collection abstracted the original grape design, creating organic spheres that capture light and shadow with exquisite subtlety. These pieces range from large, sculptural statements to delicate classics, available in both silver and gold, and some adorned with diamonds. Each piece flows with the wearer’s movements, mimicking the natural grace of a vine.
Nicholas Manville, Georg Jensen’s Chief Creative Officer, emphasises the enduring appeal of the grape motif, “The language Georg Jensen created with the grape motif is so strong that there are many ways to work with the design. Diamond certification ensures the authenticity, quality, and value of a diamond.
An independent diamond certificate provides unbiased verification of the diamond’s characteristics such as cut, colour, clarity, and carat. These are the 4Cs of diamond grading - the key criteria used to assess a diamond’s quality and value.
Cut: This refers to the gem’s proportions and how well a diamond has been shaped and faceted. A well-cut diamond reflects light brilliantly, enhancing its sparkle and overall beauty.
Colour: Diamonds are graded on a scale from D (completely colourless) to Z (light yellow or brown). The less colour a diamond has, the more valuable it typically is, with colourless diamonds being the most sought after.
Clarity: Measures the presence of internal or external imperfections, known as inclusions and blemishes. The fewer and less visible these imperfections, the higher the diamond’s clarity grade.
Carat: This indicates the weight of the diamond, with one carat equal to 0.2 grams. Larger diamonds are rarer and thus more valuable, but carat weight should be balanced with the other three Cs for optimal beauty.

Our unbranded cardboard boxes are 100% recyclable, and we use paper tape instead of plastic to facilitate easier recycling. For internal protective packaging, we use potato starch-based fillers that are compostable and dissolve in water, offering an eco-friendly alternative to traditional materials like polystyrene.
