ack in 2019, we reflected on 100 years of trading, along with landmark events over this period, and looked forward to the next centenary. Little could I have known that we’d be facing an upheaval to all our lives and the world events that would unfold soon after.

However, we are pleased that there has now been a return to business as normal, with serving screens stowed away and masks no longer mandatory. We are appreciative of all the support you have provided us with throughout the difficulties of the last two years. It is because of your unwavering loyalty that we are able to continue providing our high-quality services and products.

This year, we are particularly excited to present Fabergé, a new addition to our brands. In May, I had the pleasure of being a guest of Fabergé, at the V&A exhibition in London. Seeing much of their legacy collectively laid out in one space was breath-taking to say the least. We are proud to be part of the Fabergé journey and an authorised retailer of such a prestigious brand.

We are also honoured to be stocking Bremont. Their watches are designed and produced entirely in the UK with traditional British qualities in mind and are suitable to be worn anywhere, from the boardroom to the harshest of environments.

With climate change at the forefront of our minds, increasing sustainability within our company is incredibly important to us. In an effort to become carbon neutral, we completed our first carbon footprint audit earlier this year. We also take pride in selling and repairing pieces that will be worn for many years and passed on to the next generation.

I’d like to conclude by reflecting on the recent passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. A constant in an ever-changing world, she had always remained a true embodiment of grace and stability. We thank her for a lifetime of unfaltering service.

From the outset, the founder of Rolex established a network of watchmaking workshops around the world, tasked with ensuring that all of the brand’s watches could receive the best possible servicing and so preserve their excellent technical performance and a pristine appearance. As a result, there is no limit on how long a Rolex watch can keep working, being handed down from one generation to the next, and living several lives.

Michael Jones Jeweller is very proud to be part of the worldwide network of Rolex-trained watchmakers, carefully selected for our uncompromising professionalism and expertise. We follow the Rolex Service Procedure, designed to ensure that every timepiece leaving a Rolex workshop complies with its original functional and aesthetic specifications.

Our fantastic watchmakers have all been expertly trained inhouse to the highest standard of excellence and are assessed regularly by Rolex.

From adjusting the length of bracelet to restoring a historical watch, every type of servicing operation for a Rolex watch can be entrusted to our expert team at Michael Jones Jeweller.

After receiving your watch, it is closely examined by one of our skilled watchmakers, who assesses the work to be done. The watchmaker detaches the bracelet and removes the winding stem so as to be able to extract the movement from the case. The watchmaker places all the movements components into a basket for cleaning in an ultrasonic bath. Once the components have been cleaned and dried, the watchmaker reassembles the movement. The movements timekeeping accuracy is adjusted.

After remounting the dial on the movement, our watchmaker manually fits in the hands. All parts of the watch are polished or satinfinished according to their original finish. After casing the movement, the watch is tested in different positions to verify its chronometric performance for at least 24 hours in conditions similar to those on a wearer’s wrist. Each watch is individually tested for waterproofness in a hyperbaric tank. Once the case back has been screwed down, our watchmaker checks that the watch’s functions are perfectly operational, and that the appearance is impeccable.

Each watch leaving a Rolex after-sales service workshop benefits from an international twoyear guarantee covering the parts and labour. We firmly believe that when we sell luxury goods, we need to offer a quality and convenient after-sales service to back it up. WATCHMAKING ONCE AGAIN FINDS BRITISH SHORES

The Limited Edition Bremont Longitude is a groundbreaking timepiece that not only looks back at our country’s legacy but also forward to an exciting future of British watchmaking. The watch’s case back incorporates brass from the original “Flamsteed Line,” in Greenwich, the very spot where the first Astronomer Royal made his celestial observations in pursuit of an aid to navigation.

It has long been the goal of Bremont to bring watch manufacturing back to Britain. The Longitude represents a milestone in that journey, a homecoming of sorts, and proof that, to get where you’re going, you need to know where you came from.

CHARITY AT MICHAEL JONES JEWELLER

Every year, we donate a percentage of our profits to local charities and causes in the Northampton and Banbury areas through our registered charity, Michael Jones Jeweller Community Fund.

Our Charity Co-Ordinator Thomas Sinclair, who is also the manager of our Grosvenor Centre store, has the fulfilling role of allocating donations and gifts in response to all the charity requests we receive every year.

This money is allocated in several different ways depending on the situation and there are many ways that we can help.

We like to use a large portion of the money on a bigger local project that can really make a difference. In the past, there have been projects such as building a new garden at Northampton General Hospital and providing bursaries to help fund students through university. This year, we were delighted to be able to support the food bank set up by Northampton Cathedral by providing a two-year grant to help them to continue the brilliant work that they do to feed those in need in the community.

The Michael Jones Jeweller Community Fund has donated to many schools in the local community to assist with funding the purchase of books, outdoor equipment and school trips to enhance the pupils’ learning experience.

This June, we were very proud to be headline sponsor of The Water Dash, a fundraising event held by The Lewis Foundation in Northampton. The charity provides free gifts and support packs to adult cancer patients every week. The event was a huge success, raising over £1500, which will fund over 400 gifts and care packs for adult cancer patients.
