ANNUAL IMPACT REPORT 2025

AN INTENTIONAL, ACTIVE FORCE FOR GOOD .

A LETTER FROM OUR FOUNDER

When I sat down to write this, I looked back at what I shared in 2024. What struck me was how much those thoughts captured what 2025 would bring—both the joy and heartbreak. At that time, we were still feeling the energy of celebrating MJ’s 60th anniversary, where my father and MJ Founder, Michael M. Bill, told our associates, “I will never retire because of the people at MJ.”

If you knew my dad, you knew three things defined him: family, Syracuse, and MJ. What I didn’t understand then, but feel deeply now, is just how true that remained to his very last days. My father passed away in August 2025. And while I was blessed with 93 years alongside him, I could have had another hundred and still wish for more time, more conversations, more lessons.

In the months since, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the legacy he left behind. From the incredible turnout at his celebration of life to the quiet conversations I’ve had with so many in the MJ family, I’ve realized there’s a fourth category that belongs with the others: he was a steward of good.

Giving back was woven into everything—our family, MJ, and my dad’s daily life. He once said, “The idea of giving back when you’ve received is a monumental instrument.” And he lived by that. Whether it was buying the Syracuse football players their first suit for the campus walk or establishing the MJ Risk Management & Insurance Scholarship at Butler University, giving back wasn’t symbolic for him. It was who he was. And that spirit is part of the company culture I’m honored to lead today.

We talked often about legacy. Through all those conversations, I learned something important: legacy isn’t built by talking about it. It’s built through the work we do, the people we help, and the impact we leave behind. That is what mattered most to him.

And as I sit here today, I think that’s what makes me the proudest of my father and MJ. Because when we first formed MJ’s Purpose statement, it was done with intention—to set forth the legacy we wanted to leave on our associates, our clients, our business partners and our communities. Our Purpose is to inspire the success, fulfillment, and wellbeing of each person we serve: our associates and their families, business partners, clients, and the community. I can sit here today knowing that we’re on the right track for the legacy we want to leave.

And in 2020, when we launched the MJ Foundation, it was because we wanted to honor the part of our Purpose that focuses on community. We wanted to be an intentional and active force for good—to support those who need us, to surround people with partnership and care, and to leave our communities better than we found them.

While 2025 brought some of the hardest moments of my life, it also brought moments of deep pride. Our first-ever large-scale fundraiser in Phoenix. The opening of our fourth market in Nashville, where we’re already providing support in the community. And so many other bright spots you’ll see in this report. All of it reflects the legacy we’re building together.

At my core, I believe that no matter how busy life becomes, what binds us is our shared Purpose and the understanding that there are causes bigger than ourselves. That can feel overwhelming, but what gives me comfort and confidence, is knowing that when we act with intention, we can overcome anything. We may not always have the perfect answer, but we can show up, unite, and create connections that matter.

So, when I lie awake at night thinking about the future and the legacy we’re shaping, I feel certain we’re on the right path. Through our collective effort, our relationships, and our genuine commitment to community, we’re building something meaningful—something my father would be proud of.

It is with great pride and deep gratitude that I invite you to read the 2025 MJ Foundation Impact Report and see the legacy we are working to create together.

OUR FOCUSED APPROACH

AN INTENTIONAL, ACTIVE FORCE FOR GOOD

MJ exists to inspire the success, fulfillment, and wellbeing of each person we serve: our associates and their families, business partners, clients, and our community. This is the Purpose that drives our organization, the work we do, and the way we do it.

It’s a statement that’s easy to understand. But it contains multitudes: If we take it literally, it affects not just the scores of people who work for MJ, or the thousands we support among our partners and clients, but the millions who make up the larger communities in which we live and work.

MJ has long been a committed community partner, and we’re always looking for ways to do more, make a greater difference, and improve the lives of the neighbors who need our help the most.

The MJ Foundation is a way for us to live our Purpose consciously and deliberately—to be an intentional, active force for good in the communities we call home.

OUR 10-YEAR VISION

To contribute $1MM to our communities in Greater Indianapolis, Phoenix, Nashville, and Denver in our first 10 years of operation.

FOUR PATHS TO MAKING A DIFFERENCE

OVERCOMING POVERTY

We work to break the cycle of generational poverty by supporting efforts to move people living with economic hardship from survival to success, hopelessness to fulfillment, and uncertainty to wellbeing.

FOSTERING DIVERSITY

We actively seek opportunities to advance the equity of people of color, members of the LGBTQ community, veterans, and others underrepresented in the risk management and benefits consulting industries, to advance their careers and create a richer, more diverse professional workforce.

ADVANCING EDUCATION

We know that education can be a path to success in life. The MJ Foundation offers funding to educational institutions and students who need financial assistance as well as inspiration to pursue a fulfilling, noble career in risk management and benefits consulting.

EMBRACING HUMANITY

We provide humanitarian support for both situational and endemic issues that challenge the communities we serve—from disaster relief to children’s healthcare and the overall wellbeing of families.

MEET OUR NEW CHARITIES OF CHOICE

To best serve our communities, we take a more focused approach—concentrating on three local charities where we get actively involved in the charity itself. Every two years, our associates choose one charitable organization in each of our markets to support as our Charity of Choice. This is where we focus much of our time and resources.

It’s important we support organizations that our associates are passionate about and that align with the Foundation’s four focus areas. 2025 was a Charity of Choice cycle year, and we were thrilled to receive over 25 associate nominations for our new partnerships. Having opened our Nashville, Tennessee office in May of 2025, the timing could not have been better. We are honored to name our first-ever Charity of Choice in Tennessee, further expanding our commitment to the Nashville community.

As part of our Charity of Choice program, each organization receives awareness and media exposure, a $5,000 grant from the MJ Foundation for each year of its participation ($10,000 total), and a Day(s) of Service with Team MJ associates. The Charity of Choice also receives a toolkit that includes its media calendar for the duration of the selection, as we believe a vital part of our partnership is raising awareness and spreading the word about the many worthy causes in our communities.

INDIANA

INDY READS

Literacy skills significantly impact economic, social, and educational outcomes. Indy Reads engages with reading every day, from things like completing job applications to understanding the instructions for a new medication. Despite how critical reading is to navigate society, 1 in 6 adults in Indiana reads below a 5th-grade level. Indy Reads envisions a future with 100% literacy for all. By facilitating literacy, English language proficiency, and job readiness skills at no cost, Indy Reads empowers people to live a dignified life.

After being a patron of their bookshop for over ten years, Indy Reads holds a special place in my heart. Knowing about their mission to support adult literacy, English language skills, and workforce readiness, I thought they would be a great fit for the MJ Foundation Charity of Choice. Indy Read’s programming directly aligns with all the MJ Foundation’s pillars: overcoming poverty, advancing education, fostering diversity, and embracing humanity. I am thrilled that my fellow MJ associates recognize the incredible impact Indy Reads makes in our community, and that we have the opportunity to support their mission through our Charity of Choice partnership.

AMANDA HOPE RAINBOW ANGELS (AHRA)

Amanda Hope’s mission is to bring dignity and comfort into the harsh world of childhood cancer and other lifethreatening diseases. Amanda Hope was the kind of girl that lit up any room with her smile and spirit. Tragically, at only 9-years old, she was diagnosed with leukemia. In her three-year fight against cancer, Amanda Hope’s spirit never waned. Caring about other children in the hospital, she dreamed of designing fun clothes that could provide comfort during chemotherapy treatments. Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels fulfills that dream in her honor, providing free apparel, counseling, financial assistance, and major distraction events to youth battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases

I was introduced to Amanda Hope through my volunteer work with Phoenix 20/30. The service activity we completed truly stayed with me, and when the nomination process began for our 2025–2027 Charity of Choice, nominating and sharing the mission of Amanda Hope was an easy decision. Knowing the level of support and impact we bring to our Charities of Choice, I was confident that AHRA would benefit tremendously. I am humbled every time the MJ team rallies behind a cause we are all so passionate about.

COLORADO

WE DON’T WASTE

We Don’t Waste started with a simple question: Why should businesses throw away perfectly good food, while people in our community are going hungry? Following the belief that nutritious food should go to people, not landfills, We Don’t Waste addresses food waste and food insecurity by recovering quality food and delivering it free of charge. Since its founding in 2009, the organization has recovered more than 230 million food servings and given it back to the Denver community through pantries, schools, shelters, and Mobile Food Markets.

I learned of We Don’t Waste through my son’s research project for school. We volunteered there and gained firsthand insight into the issue of food waste in the Denver community. Upon being there, I developed a deep appreciation for the mission and values upheld by We Don’t Waste. What stood out most was the organization’s unique approach: addressing a community need by solving a related problem, exemplifying an innovative and impactful solution. As only the second Charity of Choice in Colorado, I am honored that MJ has the chance to support and help tackle such a crucial issue in Denver.

TENNESSEE

UPRISE NASHVILLE

UpRise uses the power of education and supportive relationships to battle poverty. Offering a free career training program, UpRise provides adults with the skills and certifications they need to land better-paying positions at established Nashville companies in as little as 10 weeks. Since 2018, more than 300 graduates have found meaningful work through UpRise, earning an additional $25,126 in the first year after the program.

When I decided to come to MJ, one of the biggest factors was the way MJ rallies around the communities where their associates live and work. Nashville is a tight-knit community, and I knew that whatever my next step was, it needed to align with my personal values. I was shocked when, shortly after deciding to open a Nashville office, we learned we would immediately be receiving Foundation support. But now that I’ve been at MJ for a while, I can confidently say—that’s just who they are and have been since the organization’s founding in 1964. I’ve been involved with UpRise for many years, and when I was asked to nominate a Nashville organization that aligns with the Foundation’s pillars, UpRise immediately came to mind. Their work to help Nashvillians achieve financial independence and break systemic barriers to low-wage positions aligns perfectly with everything we stand for at MJ. Their commitment to advancing education mirrors ours, and I am humbled to say we are just getting started.

CHARITIES OF THE MONTH

Every month, we select a charitable organization to raise awareness about the cause and inspire others to join in support. We aim to harness the power of social media to spread the word about the organization and share with our vast network of community leaders how they can get involved with the organization. We feature our Charity of the Month on our external website, employee intranet, on both digital and static signage in our offices, and on our social media channels. Our Charity of the Month also receives brand awareness through a dedicated article on our blog, MJ Insight, to amplify their message.

Our Charities of the Month are selected based on where our associates volunteer, causes they champion, and Charity of Choice nominations. We are pleased to know that our associates are involved in many great causes, and it is critical to us that we can support them when we can, while still honoring our focused approach to our Charities of Choice. Our Charity of the Month program is the perfect way to do that.

Here are our 2025 Charities of the Month!

LEAVING A LASTING IMPACT

2025 SERVICE EVENTS

2025 was a year of reflection and introspection for many of us at MJ. With the loss of Mike M., our Founder, we found ourselves reconnecting with people we may not have spoken to in a while. Life is funny that way—loss often brings clarity, reminding us of what truly matters: our shared connection with others.

For many at MJ, this year became a time to seek out those connections, especially with others experiencing something similar. That spirit of connection is at the heart of MJ’s culture. It’s what we aim to cultivate through every service activity we host: bringing people together, making a difference, having fun, and meeting new faces along the way. And it’s those connections that create the real legacy we all hope to leave.

As an organization, there’s no better feeling than that. It’s why, in 2025, we provided numerous coordinated service opportunities across our markets.

GIVING BACK AND MAKING MEMORIES

Each year, we host multiple Days of Service across our footprint. What started as just a Day of Service with each Charity of Choice has really evolved into something greater. Since the founding of the MJ Foundation in 2020, we’ve grown so much from not only an impact perspective but engagement as well. So, as long as there’s a desire and a need, we’ll continue providing these opportunities for our associates to create lasting memories with one another. We believe this is an opportunity for our associates to form a deeper connection with the organizations we serve. It is also an additional opportunity to prove the power of our Purpose when we come together to be an intentional, active force for good.

DAYSPRING CENTER + CAMPTOWN

In 2025, associates had many formal and informal ways to support Dayspring, our 2023-2025 Indiana Charity of Choice. Our 2025 Day of Service with Dayspring took place over the summer during Dayspring’s Camp Discovery program. Each summer, Dayspring hosts a summer camp for the children living at Dayspring and for the families who have recently transitioned from living at the shelter. Childcare is an expense that could put many of these families back in an unfavorable financial situation, so Dayspring does what it can to alleviate this burden and let the kids have a summer break that is safe, well-rounded, and fun.

This summer, together we were able to sponsor a “Natural Wonders Camp Discovery Day” for the kids at Dayspring. Camptown organized activities like fishing and canoeing (which were huge hits!), and members of Team MJ joined in the fun, connecting with the kids while enjoying the outdoors.

For many of the kids at Dayspring, this was their first time visiting a state park, let alone canoeing, fishing, or having a water gun fight on the water! The joy and excitement that day brought were truly fulfilling and rewarding. It was a powerful reminder of the impact of collaboration, as the MJ Foundation, Camptown, and Dayspring worked together to fulfill our shared purpose. Even more humbling, as this was our second year participating, some of the Dayspring campers had attended the previous summer and remembered our MJ associates. Now that’s what we call a legacy and memory to be proud of.

CAMPTOWN

Because giving back is so core to who we are at MJ, our interns feel it from day one. In fact, each summer we plan a Day of Service designed specifically for our intern cohort. This experience allows them to bond and shows them the true value in giving back to the communities where you live and work. This summer, our interns supervised a Natural Wonders Camp Discovery Day on their own in partnership with Camptown. Lucky for us, all of our interns share the same values we do, and many cited this experience as the highlight of their summer!

CHRYSALIS

When you have MJ in your corner, you have 250 associates willing and able to provide the power of our Purpose and show up to be an active force for good. In the spring, Chrysalis, a future Charity of the Month and Arizona-based nonprofit, reached out as they needed help with a little special something. Chrysalis offers emergency housing to those experiencing domestic abuse. With Mother’s Day just around the corner and many mothers Chrysalis serves unlikely to receive a gift, Chrysalis asked for Team MJ to come help put together gift baskets just in time for the holiday. We had over 20 associates join in on this service activity to ensure that each mother felt special and had something to commemorate on the day.

INDY READS

Similar to our work with Chrysalis, Indy Reads had a last-minute need. Even though our formal partnership as the 2025–2027 Indiana Charity of Choice had not yet officially begun, they already knew they had Team MJ in their corner. After unexpected government funding cuts, the Indy Reads team needed to quickly execute a donor mailing to help recover some of those lost dollars. Because we were still keeping the partnership under wraps, our Foundation team quietly reached out to a group of our most passionate associates for a top-secret mission. Ten of our associates headed to the Indy Reads store to ensure the mailing push was a success. That’s the power of our Purpose in action. And we can’t think of a better way to kick off the partnership!

WOMEN’S BEAN PROJECT

Women’s Bean Project is a unique nonprofit in that it is a food manufacturing business that is directly tied to its transitional employment program. The women who work at Women’s Bean, our 2023-2025 Charity of Choice, are seeking employment following graduation from the Bean Project’s programming. Seeking a full time role can be intimidating—from job interviews to a big life change, the women in the program are more than capable, but the confidence and belief in themselves is sometimes lacking. We were honored to help build some of this confidence through hosting mock interviews with the women currently seeking employment. Each woman completed three mock interviews where they were asked questions and then provided feedback. One highlight from the day was when one volunteer overheard someone recounting a successful mock interview, and they realized the interviewee had taken their feedback and already applied it! It’s moments like that one that make it all worth it!

CARMEL CLAY PARKS

As evident throughout, it’s critical to us we are supporting organizations and causes of which our associates have a passion. When an associate asked if we could do a service activity to clean up a local Carmel park, it was a no brainer! What better way to kick off spring than to get outdoors, get our steps in, and remove trash and invasive plants? It did just so happen to be the warmest day we’d had in 6 months in Indiana, but hey, all in the name of making the world better than when we found it! This event had the largest turnout of 2025 with over 35 associates joining in on the action.

SERVICE AT THE ALL-ASSOCIATE MEETING

Volunteering with others creates a unique kind of bond. It brings people together who may not normally interact day-to-day, all working toward the shared goal of making a difference.

This year, during our annual all-associate meetings in both Indianapolis and Phoenix, we announced our 2025–2027 Charities of Choice. And when you gather that many talented, motivated associates in one place, it only makes sense to celebrate in true MJ fashion—with a service activity to kick off our new partnerships.

In Indianapolis, we were joined by our teammates from Tennessee, and together we purchased nearly 1,000 books for Indy Reads. These books will support their Home Library program and their in-store mystery book sales, which help raise funds for their mission. Each associate was challenged to get creative: wrap a book and decorate the paper with clues about the story inside. Another group of associates assembled over 200 snack packs for Indy Reads’ after-school program.

Meanwhile in Phoenix, our Denver team was present, and we partnered with Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels to create mindfulness packs for children facing cancer. Associates packed more than 100 kits for kids, teens, and adults. They were designed by the AHRA certified Mindfulness Program Coordinator, and they are always a big hit for their families! Kits were distributed at their Comfort and Care Center on Wellness Days.

VOLUNTEER TIME OFF

Our associates are encouraged to take up to two days of voluntary time off (VTO) annually to support an organization they are passionate about. It is of utmost importance to us that our associates can not only live out our Purpose through community support but can fulfill their personal Purpose by giving back where they are most passionate.

OUR PURPOSE IN ACTION

MJ RISK MANAGEMENT & INSURANCE SCHOLARSHIP

Education has long been an area of passion and focus for MJ, beginning with our founder Mike M. Bill and continuing through our current CEO, Mike H. Bill. With the belief that education is a stepping stone to a successful career in risk management and insurance, we have established a long-standing partnership with the Andre B. Lacy School of Business at Butler University. In an effort to diversify the industry and make formal education possible for those pursuing a noble career in risk management and insurance, we are proud to have established a $750,000 endowment supporting multicultural students with financial need in the Andre B. Lacy School of Business.

Each academic year, two students receive the MJ Risk Management & Insurance Scholarship, which supports three of the four cornerstones of the MJ Foundation’s mission: advancing education, fostering diversity, and overcoming poverty. First preference for the scholarship is given to students majoring in risk management and insurance, with the goal of making the program more accessible to students of diverse backgrounds. Students awarded the scholarship may have limited financial means to advancing education.

2025 GRANT CYCLE

We established the Foundation with the hope that we would make a meaningful difference at the organizations where our associates volunteer their time. While we have accomplished this objective, we’ve also been pleasantly surprised by an unexpected benefit—the chance to learn about the incredible work happening across our communities that we might not have discovered otherwise. With our third grant cycle, we were blown away by the inspiring work being done in our communities in alignment with our four pillars. This year, we were able to increase our grant amount and award four $25,000 grants, one in each of our markets—Denver, Indianapolis, Nashville, and Phoenix.

Aligning with our focused approach, we made a strategic decision to accept grant applications on an inviteonly basis, as it is important to us that we support the causes that mean the most to our associates. We invited nonprofits where our associates volunteer their time, former Charities of Choice, and our chosen Charities of the Month.

We were overwhelmed with gratitude by the response and number of applications we received. For our grant cycle, we invited 60 nonprofits across Indianapolis, Phoenix, and Denver, as well as some nationwide organizations, and received 46 application submissions. We received so many inspiring applications, but the three recipients truly distinguished themselves with their unique missions. These nonprofits not only align with the pillars of the Foundation but align with our Purpose as well.

MEET OUR GRANT RECIPIENTS

DRESS FOR SUCCESS DENVER (CO)

Dress for Success Denver (DFSD) exists to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Dress for Success Denver delivers a comprehensive continuum of professional development and life skills programming which together empower women to succeed throughout their professional lives. Together, DFSD programs advance economic independence by helping clients become employed; stay employed; achieve promotions and raises; run businesses; participate in valuable networking and leadership opportunities; and embrace life-long learning and self-sufficiency. DFSD’s programs “bridge the gap” between generational poverty and economic opportunity. Keys for disrupting this cycle include sustainable employment, financial education, and reinstitution of hope. By inspiring confidence, we empower women to change their lives. We are honored to support this mission and help women in the Denver community overcome poverty and advance in their education.

HOPE WOMEN’S CENTER (AZ)

Hope Women’s Center is dedicated to engaging, encouraging, and equipping women and teen girls who are facing challenging life circumstances. Through their mission, they guide women on a journey from trauma to true transformation.

Our grant directly supports the Hope at Work program, an initiative designed to provide comprehensive job training and resources to women in need. This program specifically serves women in underserved communities throughout Arizona, offering a variety of services such as career coaching, job skills training, internship opportunities, career tracks, entrepreneurial opportunities, and classes focused on building emotional intelligence.

The primary goal of Hope at Work is to help women advance and elevate their lives by offering free education and support as they seek, secure, and sustain meaningful employment. The program aims to achieve measurable outcomes, including higher employment rates and increased earned income among its participants.

With support from the MJ Foundation, Hope Women’s Center was able to expand the reach of the Hope at Work program, ensuring that job skills education and career coaching are accessible at no cost to women who need

it most. This funding enabled approximately 300 women to receive a total of 1,400 hours of job skills education, career guidance, entrepreneurial involvement, and internship opportunities. We recognize and admire the impactful work being done by Hope Women’s Center. The grant provided is expected to create a lasting influence— far beyond the financial contribution—by equipping women with valuable skills and knowledge that will benefit them for years to come.

INDY HYGIENE HUB (IN)

Indy Hygiene Hub provides resources to people facing challenges to affirm dignity and inspire hope. Indy Hygiene Hub serves anyone in our community who needs hygiene products. They do not require proof of income as the goal is to eliminate barriers for people who need these essential items. By removing these obstacles, they ensure that individuals and families can access hygiene supplies with dignity and without unnecessary hardship. Our $25,000 grant helped provide hygiene kits and period packs to students and families in need. These items are distributed throughout the year to ensure consistent access to essential hygiene products. Indy Hygiene Hub serves individuals and families in Central Indiana who are facing financial hardship or other barriers to accessing basic care items. By addressing the gap in access to hygiene supplies, Indy Hygiene Hub helps students attend school with confidence, reduce absenteeism, and support families in maintaining their health and dignity. Our grant has a direct impact on children, youth, and adults in our community who might otherwise go without these basic necessities.

TEAM CHAD (TN)

Team Chad provides essential support to cancer patients and their families, who suffer financial hardship during treatment. Team Chad seeks a future where cancer patients in Tennessee will all have the same access to care regardless of their financial or personal hardships. Team Chad partners with medical providers such as VanderbiltIngram Cancer Center and Meharry Medical College to support patients in active treatment through their Direct Patient Assistance Program. This program provides up to $5,000 per family to direct toward critical needs like rent, mortgage payments, utilities, or transportation. Team Chad’s method has been externally validated through consistent referrals, verified service delivery, and documented outcomes—such as housing retention, continued treatment adherence, and reduced family stress. Patients are referred by licensed social workers, ensuring eligibility and avoiding duplication. Team Chad’s payments go directly to landlords or utility companies, guaranteeing impact. Our grant will ensure 5 families have access to this support.

We love the approach taken by Team Chad, as they embrace humanity with everyone they serve.

SPECIAL CONNECTION

While our grant cycle is invite-only and all nonprofit partners are nominated by MJ associates, Team Chad holds a particularly meaningful connection to MJ through Craig Reavis, Vice President of Business + Community Development. Craig nominated Team Chad in honor of his close friendship with Chad, whose legacy continues to inspire this work today.

Founded in 2007, Team Chad began as a small group of friends determined to carry forward Chad’s mission: helping those who couldn’t help themselves. With limited financial resources but an abundance of passion, the group raised approximately $7,000 in its first year.

Nearly two decades later, Team Chad has grown far beyond what anyone initially imagined, surpassing $2 million raised in support of Nashville families facing unimaginable challenges.

Craig credits much of the organization’s longevity and success to the unwavering commitment of those closest to the cause, including his wife and longtime friends who have stood by Team Chad since its earliest days.

None of us imagined this would grow the way it has—and it wouldn’t have been possible without the countless volunteers, donors, friends, and family members who believed in the cause. Special shoutout to my wife and close friends who’ve been part of this mission since day one. And hats off to MJ for recognizing the impact and heart behind Team Chad. Here’s to continuing the work and making a difference—one family at a time.

MJ is proud to recognize the heart, legacy, and lasting impact behind Team Chad, and the personal connection that makes this mission especially meaningful.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

As highlighted throughout, 2025 was a year of great success for the Foundation. Thanks to our robust fundraising efforts and the generosity of those who contributed in honor of Mike M. Bill, we ended the year with remaining funds that we believed could make a meaningful difference.

For the first time, the Foundation awarded surprise honorable mention grants to four nonprofit organizations that distinguished themselves during our committee’s scoring process. Each of these organizations received a $5,000 expanded impact grant in recognition of their outstanding work and dedication to their respective missions. The recipients of these surprise grants were:

We are honored to support these organizations and play even a small role in furthering the incredible work they are accomplishing in their communities.

ANNUAL FUNDRAISERS

Our grant cycle and financial contributions to our communities are only possible because of the support from our partners and associates. One way the MJ Foundation raises money is through our annual fundraising events, where business partners and community members come together to have fun and raise money. Our events bring people together to fundraise for a common cause and support local nonprofits through donations and grants.

2025 THIRD ANNUAL GOLF OUTING

This year we hosted our largest fundraiser to date, the third MJ Foundation annual golf outing. Held at the renowned Hawthorns Golf and Country Club in Fishers, Indiana, the event brought together over 100 industry partners, employees, and friends, and raised over $135,000 through a fun-filled golf scramble.

From a hole-in-one car giveaway to a cannon launcher to spending time with individuals who are committed to making an impact in their communities, the event was a resounding success. We would like to again thank our Raspberry Sponsors Ennabl, Anthem, and RT Specialty for helping make the day so impactful and memorable.

2025 PICKLE FOR A PURPOSE: PICKLEBALL TOURNAMENT

This year, we proudly hosted our first-ever large-scale fundraiser in Phoenix—a pickleball tournament that exceeded all expectations. Held at Electric Pickle, the event brought together more than 100 industry partners, MJ associates, and friends for a day of friendly competition and community connection. Thanks to their generosity and enthusiasm, we raised over $100,000 in support of meaningful causes.

It was truly inspiring to see the Arizona community show up and rally behind the incredible work we are doing. The tournament featured both advanced and beginner brackets, creating an inclusive and fun experience for players of all skill levels.

Participants weren’t just playing for bragging rights—they were playing for nonprofits close to their hearts. Cash prizes were awarded to the top teams in each bracket: $3,500 for the two winning teams and $1,500 for the two second-place teams. In total, $10,000 was donated to nonprofits selected by the winning teams.

We were honored to present donations to Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation and Hospice of the Valley, the two organizations chosen by our winners. We could not be prouder of the impact this event had and the community that helped make it possible.

ASSOCIATE HIGHLIGHTS

Our Purpose fuels what we do, but our associates are the heart behind it. Their servant hearts, passion, and dedication—especially when it comes to giving back—are what truly make the difference.

Take Breanna (“Bre”) Evans, for example. Bre leads our Population Health + Wellness team. Each year, her team hosts a summit in one of our offices, bringing everyone together to set the vision for the year ahead. During this time, the team reflects on what went well in the previous year and aligns on the initiatives they will focus on in the year ahead.

These resets are pivotal at both the business and team levels. Associates who are located across the country come together in one place, collaborate, and put their minds to work around shared goals. What makes these meetings even more special is the intentional focus on giving back. Each year, the team incorporates a service activity into their reset—because a team that volunteers together, stays together!

When asked why this aspect is so important to her, Bre shared:

I believe in coming together for a common goal. While we do that every day at work, there is so much more happening outside the walls of MJ. Being able to make a difference alongside your coworkers is a powerful way to bond, remember what we have to be grateful for, and step outside of ourselves.

MJ associates also give back outside of MJ by actively getting involved in the causes that matter most to them. Mike Marsella, Vice President of Surety is a great example of this. Mike serves as Board Treasurer for St. Joseph Hearing + Speech and has been involved with the organization since 2017. The school teaches children to use hearing devices like a cochlear implant or hearing aids to hear and speak as opposed to sign language. The goal is to integrate the children back into a mainstream school setting, providing a life-changing experience to communicate with the hearing world. In addition to being Treasurer, Mike also serves as Finance Committee Chair and is actively involved in the oversight of the financial presentation, the sustainability initiatives, long term planning and strategic objectives of the organization.

When asked about his experience and what has kept him committed for all these years, Mike shared:

When I saw the success the school was having and the great work they were doing, it was impossible to say no to this opportunity. It has been a very fulfilling experience to say the least.

This year, as highlighted throughout our report, we selected four new Charities of Choice. However, through our Charity of Choice cycle, we grow close to the nonprofits we support. While we believe it is important to spread the wealth, sometimes a cause simply resonates—and when you make a friend at MJ, you have a friend for life.

That has certainly been the case with MJ Foundation Executive Director Britni Shrout, who joined the Dayspring Center Board while Dayspring served as our 2023–2025 Charity of Choice and continues to serve today.

I’ve been with MJ for over 17 years, and during that time I’ve had the privilege of giving back and connecting with a wide variety of nonprofits across our markets. I consider this one of the greatest privileges of my work. When I became Executive Director of the MJ Foundation, it was important to me that we were very intentional about how we gave back—and that we asked our associates for meaningful, intentional involvement. At the time, it felt like we were asking for something new every other month, without truly harnessing the collective power of giving back in a focused way.

That’s how the Charity of Choice program was born. We had supported Dayspring in the past, but during the 2023–2025 cycle, I truly fell in love with the work they do and they impact they make in our community. The people at Dayspring, the families they serve, and the mission they champion left a lasting impression on me. Even after our corporate partnership formally concluded, I knew I wanted to remain closely connected to an organization doing such meaningful work for homeless families in our community. In early 2025, I joined Dayspring’s Board of Directors, and I am grateful to remain so deeply involved in advancing the organization’s mission.

A NOTE OF GRATITUDE

The work behind a successful foundation is substantial. We would not be where we are today—making the impact we are making—without the dedication of our amazing associates who help lead, manage, and oversee the foundation. We are proud that the MJ Foundation is 100% run and led by our associates, who volunteer and donate their time. Thank you for going above and beyond, fulfilling our Purpose, and being intentional, active forces for good.
