John enjoys drawing abstract art. When asked about his most recent piece, he simply said, “yellow”. Perhaps this is his favorite color? At any rate, one can certainly see the prominent use of bright yellow in this piece.
John’s other hobbies include playing with trucks, exploring, and building towers. He also enjoys spending time with his friends. He is a man of few words, but he seems to enjoy his time at Weekday.
When asked about his current art project, Benji explained as he painted: “I am drawing my mommy. She has ‘lellow’ hair. I am drawing her a crown.” Clearly, the likeness to his subject is indisputable!
Benji’s other interests at Weekday include all sorts of daredevil-like antics, learning all he can about letters and numbers, and digging in the dirt. Benji is also known around the school as the boy who occasionally rides his bike through carpool!
For tonight’s exhibit, Langston created a “rainbow circle”. While several colors of the rainbow are utilized, one can clearly see that Langston prefers using colors in the red family in his artwork. Most notable in this particular piece, however, is the prominent use of circular shapes!
Langston’s hobbies at school include playing with cars, holding “Circle Snake”, and greeting adults in the hallway. Langston is quite a social child and greatly enjoys talking with his friends. He smiles often and has a most infectious laugh!
When asked about her latest artwork, Ridhi said she was painting “a flower.” She chose her colors very carefully, and the placement of her painting on the canvas is interesting as it is concentrated in the lower left corner exclusively. It is a simple yet delightful piece of art!
Ridhi fills her days at school playing with ponies, exploring sensory bins, holding baby dolls. Ridhi is often quiet, but she will always use her voice to identify letters and numbers during circle time! She is a very smart and sweet-spirited young lady.
Sophie described her painting seen here as “mommy and me with some flowers.” The observer can easily spot the two figures, one taller than the other, and what can almost be described as a field of flowers.
Sophie spends her time at Weekday playing with her friends. While some children may prefer to play alone, Sophie loves to explore, role play, and work with others. She is a good friend to all and a delightful part of our class.
Akshaya’s piece we see here tonight is the artist’s rendering of a flower. It is most certainly an abstract piece in which Akshaya experimented with color.
During her days at Weekday when she is not creating art, Akshaya enjoys spending time with her friends, exploring, and playing outdoors. Her favorite pastime, however, is singing and dancing to music! One might say she has a song in her soul.
While painting his current piece, Isaac said, “I am painting a candy cane. I need to paint some more candy canes.” In the beginning stages of creation, the candy cane shapes were quite obvious to the onlooker. However, the more involved Isaac became in creating, the more abstract the candy canes became. Still, if one looks closely, subtle candy cane shapes seem to appear.
When Isaac is not creating artwork, he enjoys playing with his friends. Isaac plays hard and with his whole heart. His energy abounds, but so does his care for his friends as he shows great concern for their well-being and seeks to include everyone in the fun.
Always has painted a family portrait for us. While she was hard at work, she said, “I am painting my mommy and daddy with my brother and MY baby.” If closely examined, it is clear that Always has depicted her family members enjoying a day in the sun.
It is no surprise that Always chose her family as the subject for this work of art. They are by far her favorite subject, especially “her” baby Worthy. She lights up when she spots her sister in the halls, and she is quick to remind her friends that Worthy is “hers.” As a result, we have all gotten to enjoy baby smiles and delight in the love that Always shows her family!
Jacob entitled his artwork seen here “A Big Mouse”. This work can only be described as an abstract piece that experiments with bright colors.
When Jacob is not working on his art pieces, he enjoys talking to and playing with his friends. Jacob especially enjoys building with magnets, playing outside, playing with cars. Jacob enjoys his time at school, but his face will always light up when he tells us how he spends the occasional day off with his daddy!
While creating her painting, Adriana said, “It is going to be a something…a big fish! A shark!” One might say that her use of several colors and shapes in her painting depict the evolution of the artwork itself: from something unknown to the artist’s rendering of sea life.
Adriana is the newcomer to Weekday, but you would not know it! She is independent, decisive, and resilient. She enjoys playing with her friends, but she is never afraid to march to the beat of her own drum and often explores on her own.
