“El Chino Li” started off playing polo in the seventies with his horse “ El Soñador” (“The Dreamer”) which he kept in his mother’s house in El Cortijo Avenue. His passion for polo, made him want to grow and expand in his poultry automation business and increase his number of horses. In 1988, Guillermo Li Chau founded El Cortijo Polo Team. Together with his sons and close friends he won several nacional and international polo tournaments. Moreover, he invited outstanding professional and international polo players to play for El Cortijo Polo Team, contributing to the development of Polo in Peru. “El Chino” enjoyed debating about polo while celebrating with a good meal; always supported by his unconditional dreams companion and wife Martha. In the mid 90’s, El Cortijo Polo Team started breeding and training Peruvian horses for Polo at “Fundo El Cortijo”. Today, horses with “El Cortjo” brand play polo in Europe. “El Cortijo Polo Club” was founded on April 6th, 2007 by Guillermo Li Chau, one of the main and enthusiastic polo promoters ever in Peru. In less than three decades, Guillermo Li Chau has accomplished many of his dreams by making his own team together with his three sons Guillermo, Gonzalo and Gabriel, training and producing his own breed of polo horses and inaugurating his own polo pitch. El Cortijo Polo Club, pursues to maintain alive the essence of his founder Guillermo Li Chau by promoting Peruvian Polo, recruiting new talents, horse lovers and polo dreamers.
