Charrette week starts the academic year, bringing a host of alumni, artists, architects, engineers designers and thinkers to the university to run a one-week high energy project. Students from all years are mixed into Charrette ‘studios’ for the week, to encourage cross year learning and to break down social barriers within the school. Each Charrette studio will typically involve 45 people, with students from the upper years expected to exercise team and time management skills learnt in practice to ensure the projects are delivered on time and on budget. ncl.ac.uk
