Bradford

Julie

Julie is a climate activist and one of the most active members of Bingley Morsbags group. She’s made hundreds of free bags out of donated materials – saving tonnes of material from landfill and reducing our reliance on plastic bags.

Alyshea

Alyshea is a nationally award-winning doctor with disabilities who works hard to care for patients with mental health problems at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Carol

Carol is a health advocate who works tirelessly within Bradford’s Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities – including through Bradford’s Black Health Forum, which promotes health and wellbeing among African and Afro-Caribbean residents.

Stafford

Stafford is one of the founders of the Bradford West Indian Parents’ Association, which helped integrate new arrivals from the Caribbean to the UK, and is now the Deacon of Westgate Baptist Church in Manningham.

Glasgow

Shannon

Shannon runs a food bank and a food waste shop, as well as family events and clubs supporting vulnerable adults. She’s introduced countless families to new cultural experiences, created jobs and built a truly inclusive community.

Riffut

Riffut worked as a social worker in Bradford for 35 years, caring for some of Bradford’s most vulnerable families.

Linda

Linda is a writer, poet, musician and teacher. In 2019, she founded Seahorse Publications, a small press which supports publishing by those who may find it difficult to find an outlet. Linda considers herself a catalyst for others to think, write and sing.

Anita

Anita is a long-standing trade unionist, and a founding member of the Scottish Trades Union Congress Black Workers’ Committee. Anita was honoured with a Special Award from the STUC Women’s Committee in recognition of her support of black trade unionists.

Adele

Adele co-founded the Glasgow Women’s Library in 1991. She is a cultural worker, a creative and a champion of feminist and values led cultural leadership.

Belfast

Israel

Israel is the founder of the Minority Community Network, an organisation dedicated to supporting minority communities in Northern Ireland.

Susan

Susan is the Centre Manager at the Falls Women’s Centre in West Belfast, where she has been involved since 1991, focusing on empowering women to challenge inequality and social injustice.

Billy

Billy Drummond is the Site Manager at Greater Shankill Alternatives, a restorative justice organisation in Belfast, and actively contributes to the BUILD Shankill project, a communitydriven initiative tackling vacant and derelict land in the Greater Shankill area.

Cardiff

Mujib (Oloye)

Abdulmujib, widely known as Oloye Fineface, and originally from Nigeria, is a dynamic music and dance artist, creative facilitator, and entertainer based in Cardiff. A father and a community advocate, Oloye’s journey is one of resilience, cultural exchange, and creative exploration.

Natasha

Natasha was active in NUS disabled students’ campaign while at university, and was NUS Wales President 2003/04. She is the Chair of Disability Arts Cymru, having previously chaired a working group for the Welsh Government Disability Rights Task force. Natasha is deaf, neurodivergent, was educated in mainstream schools, and is now learning British Sign Language.

Paskaline

Paskaline has made significant contributions to the world of high fashion, creative arts, and community engagement. A former Miss Kenya, she has collaborated with the Sub-Saharan African Panel to deliver sessions on mental health awareness among the black community across Wales and the UK.
