Intermediate/Advanced Ballet (Age 10+)

Beginning Ballet (Ages 4-6)

Mondays, 3:30-4:10 pm or Saturdays, 10:20-11:00 am Instructor: Karrie Benedict Location: CTAC Dance Studio Tuition: Members: $216 / Non-Members: $236 Designed to be a dancer’s first class, this class will focus on arm placement, pointing of toes, stretching, turnout, poise and classroom etiquette. At the end of the session, students will be able to execute the two dance positions, have a solid basic concept of the way their bodies move and be excited for their next dance class! Max Students: 12

Beginning/Intermediate Ballet (Ages 6-8)

Tuesdays, 4:30-5:30 pm or Saturdays, 11:00 am -12:00 pm Instructor: Karrie Benedict Location: CTAC Dance Studio Tuition: Members: $234 / Non-Members: $254 This class level introduces the young dancer to the true outline of a ballet class. Structured ballet barre with center combinations and French terminology will shape the students for future classes. This level is the perfect transition from a beginning class and a necessary step to the intermediate level.

Intermediate Ballet (Ages 8-11)

Mitchell Dance Studio Tuition: Members: $252 / Non-Members: $272 A class at this level is for serious ballet students with a solid, well-trained foundation. Dancers spend half their time at the barre learning, memorizing and executing full combinations, while absorbing and understanding proper techniques. The other half of the classroom experience is spent doing center work. Max Students: 30

Mitchell Dance Studio Tuition: Members: $630 / Non-Members: $650 Designed for serious ballet students with a solid ballet foundation. This class moves quickly. Dancers in this level are expected to push themselves to excel in the classroom and on their own time. Complicated concepts are taught and mastered: multiple turns, grand allegro, adagio, extension, body placement, partner work, pointe work and concentration on the feet. Each dancer is hand selected by Ms. Heather to participate in the Pre-Professional level based on talent, potential, maturity and dedication. (A minimum of four classes required to participate at this level)

Dance Fusion Instructor: Karrie Benedict Location: CTAC Dance Studio Dance Fusion students explore a variety of dance styles including modern and jazz with music from classic to Broadway show tunes.

Students learn the skills to create their own work and have the opportunity to share their original choreography with the class.

STRINGS PROGRAM

CTAC Dorothy Gerber Strings – Beginning & Intermediate Students will learn the basics, from music terminology to playing their first songs. These tuition-free classes are offered in the Char-Em School District for students grades 3 and above. First year players and players with no prior experience are welcome. CTAC Concert Orchestra

Mondays, 5:30-6:30 pm – Upper & Lower Carnegie Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30 pm – Upper Carnegie Tuition: $125 First Student / $75 for each additional family member This class is for students with two years experience. Students will perform orchestra music in separate string parts and learn a collection of new songs.

CTAC Chamber Symphony

Mondays, 6:30-8:30 pm – Upper & Lower Carnegie Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 pm – Upper Carnegie Tuition: $125 First Student / $75 for each additional family member Concert Orchestra experience is required for this program. Students will experience playing with a full orchestra, learn new music in separate musical instrument parts. Adult students are welcome.

CTAC Youth Jazz Band

Instructors: Dave Pugh and Doug Beauchamp Tuesdays, 7:00-9:00 pm – Upper Carnegie Members of the community are also welcome to join the ensemble.

Class Terms and Conditions

MEDIA RELEASE: Unless otherwise notified, Crooked Tree Arts Center and persons acting for them, reserve the right to use, reproduce, and/or distribute photographs, video and/or sound recordings of student(s) or participant(s) registered for a class or at a CTAC event for use in Crooked Tree Arts Center’s promotional materials.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS: Crooked Tree Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any course that does not meet its minimum student enrollment prior to the first class session. If a course is cancelled by CTAC for lack of enrollment, CTAC will offer a full refund to the student in the manner in which tuition was paid.

(Cash payments will be refunded by check.)

Requests for cancellation by the student up to seven (7) days prior to the first day of class will be honored (minus a $20 processing fee). NO REFUNDS will be given for a student cancellation made less than seven (7) days in advance of the first day of the class.

REGISTRATION POLICY: Advance registration is strongly recommended. Full payment for fee-based classes is required for registration. (School of Ballet tuition may be split into two payments.) Crooked Tree Arts Center does not hold spaces for later payment.

Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Register early to prevent class cancellation due to low enrollment. Crooked Tree Arts Center reserves the right to make corrections to prices and discounts for registrations made through this website.

WEATHER-RELATED CANCELLATIONS: Please note, when the Public Schools of Petoskey are closed due to inclement weather, CTAC classes are cancelled. CTAC will do its best to provide a make-up opportunity for the missed class. Refunds will not be given if the student is unable to attend the rescheduled session of class. Workshops and one-time classes, such as the Culinary Series, will be handled on a per class basis.

School of Ballet students are asked to make-up the missed class in an alternate class session approved by their instructor.

Learn the basics of the potter’s wheel. In three sessions, students will focus on completing a project from initial design to glazing. Max Students: 8

A fabulous finished mural from individual student artwork will be the outcome from this class. The students decide on the look of their finished project and will learn how each individual piece of artwork will add to the whole to create the completed mural. Students will see their artwork as part of a bigger project to be displayed publicly. Max Students: 8

Draw A Tree (x3) (Grades 4-6)

Animation (Grades 4-8)

Trees are tricky! This class brings trees into focus for young students. Spend three art sessions learning different techniques to draw trees. Max Students: 8

Students will discover the art of animation with this beginning class. Each week, students will work on a basic plot, script and/ or situation that they must translate into an animated form.

Students will use a variety of mediums and techniques to create their films, including color pencils, cut paper, graphite, markers and more. The final product is a DVD compilation of work to show to friends and family. Max Students: 8
