Live On; Preventing Suicide by Building Connections

I have been a member of NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) for over 3 years, I am partnered with Utah’s suicide prevention coalition, and have spoken to several groups in my county about the importance of having a healthy mind, as well as knowing the warning signs of suicide, and how to approach someone who you may think is experiencing suicidal thoughts.

WHAT DOES SERVICE MEAN TO YOU?

My favorite quote about service is, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” - Ghandi. I love that service gives us the opportunity to not only change others lives, but our own as well. Service is an act of humility of placing others before ourselves. I love that this organization has such an emphasis on service and have seen firsthand how it changes lives.

WHAT DOES SUCCESS MEAN TO YOU?

Success to me means setting goals for your life and working hard to achieve them. It means overcoming obstacles and proving to yourself that with hard work and the right attitude, nothing is impossible! Most importantly success to me means being truly happy with your life and all you have done to get to where you are.
