Thank you,Mothers
Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you” (Exodus 20:12).
Christian mothers are a priceless, special gift from God. Throughout the Bible, we read about godly mothers who raised their children to become kings, queens and prophets, used mightily by God. Mothers like Jochebed, Elizabeth, Hannah, and Mary raised their sons to love, honor and serve God. These mothers, like the Proverbs 31 Woman, were committed, hardworking and resourceful to their family.

The ways in which Christian mothers demonstrate love for their families is invaluable. This month we will show how valued they are by honoring them for their contribution to making this world, and our homes, a better place. In His Word, God is clear about how we are to treat our mother, and father alike.
The fifth commandment has blessings attached to our treatment of parents and this commandment, along with its blessings, is repeated throughout the New Testament. The fifth commandment says, “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you” (Exodus 20:12). To honor means to “regard with great respect or high esteem”.
We are to honor our mother, regardless of age, circumstances, or the type of relationship we have with them and although we give special honor to her on Mother’s Day, our honor for them should extend throughout the year.
Now, there are some circumstances where a mother’s behavior is unhealthy and harmful. Even then, honor is still demonstrated, but with appropriate limitations. Young children can show honor for their mother through simple things like cleaning their room, assisting with housework and being obedient.
As a child grows older, honor can be shown by asking for advice, not thinking you know better and never speaking disrespectfully. As we move into adulthood, we honor our mother by helping them when needs arise, staying in touch with them and being a financial blessing.
Thank you, mothers. Your work and dedication to your family is not overlooked or forgotten. You are important. We love you!
