Lessons for a Good Man

Dear Members and Partners,

Please allow me to start off by saying “Happy Father’s Day” to all the dads. Every Christian father should know just how essential you are to your families and the world. As I reflect on this month’s partner letter and the Father’s Day holiday, I want to take a moment to place emphasis on just how needed every current and future father is to society. God places description on what He calls a “Good Man”. Hear the word of the Lord concerning this principle:

Proverbs 13:22 (NKJV) - “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.”

Whenever I read the Bible, I pay attention to adjectives. An adjective is a word that describes a subject in a sentence. God through Solomon delineates a “type” of man that every male should aspire to be. That type of man is not just any man, the one God wants us all to be is a “good man.” Now immediately my mind goes to the fact that if there can be a “good man” there most certainly can be a “bad man.” If a good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children, a bad man squanders everything he gets and leaves his children starting over from the beginning. Could you imagine what would happen to a community of people if fathers were all able to leave a starter home or even a five-figure savings account to each child? With healthy parameters such as “you must use the money for college” or “you must use the money to gain a trade or skill.” If this happened, we would break the curse of poverty on a generational level because every young adult would have a way to make money “honestly.” But in so many cases, dads leave their kids and families worse off with loads of debt, and worse, a life of “figuring it out” because a kid never benefited from the wisdom of a father. I believe that there are at least three inheritances that every good man leaves for his children. They are as follows:

A clear understanding of salvation and how to relate to God as father.

2.

1. A clear understanding of their identity and calling; our children should not be confused about who they are in God and what they are destined to do in life.

3.

An economic inheritance that helps every child to flourish and carry out a strong legacy.

When fathers do their part in a child’s life, the son or daughter has a strong opportunity to maximize their potential in life and this is leaving an inheritance and being a good man. Ultimately it is every adult’s responsibility to tap into their God ordained assignment and be a productive contributor to society by living out their Christianity optimally. It is a father’s job to help this occur seamlessly. Sons and daughters alike gain their natural and spiritual identity development from their fathers. Every man who plants the seed of a child, has a great responsibility to see to it, that the child becomes who God has ordained them to be. This is an awesome responsibility.

1 Timothy 5:8 (NKJV) - “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

God takes the provision of a father very seriously. Every man should evaluate whether he has “denied the faith” by neglecting his household. If you are a man reading this letter, I encourage you to place your relationship with each of your children under a microscope and determine if you are giving them your best efforts as a father. We will all be called into accountability on how we’ve handled the things of God, and that includes our wives and children. If you’ve not always been a good dad, there is still time to redeem yourself by asking for forgiveness and becoming the man of God today that God and your children can be pleased with. If you have read his article and never had a “good father”, that’s okay, God is your ultimate father. Begin to know God deeper and trust his surrogacy in your life. God will never have us lacking what we need just because someone else didn’t do their part. If we are willing and obedient, we will still eat off the good of the land no matter who was missing or present. Love God with all your heart and you will soon discover that there is no Dad quite like our heavenly Father. I want to wish every father a “Happy Father’s Day”. May you be richly blessed everyday of your lives!

Love,

Fathers

Gabriel Rogers, PH.D.

Prayer of Salvation

If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, pray the following prayer in faith, and you will be saved! Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus.  According to Romans 10: 9-10, Jesus I ask you to come into my heart and be Lord over my life. Your word says that "if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." I confess that Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead.

I AM SAVED!

Spiritual Fathers

1 Corinthians 4:14 – 15

14 I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I warn you. 15 For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

This month we will celebrate and honor the honorable among fathers for the role they play in the family and within society. The connection that fathers have with

their children is hugely significant and extremely necessary for positive outcomes in their children’s life. It is important to reflect and be thankful to the men in our lives who have taken upon themselves the responsibility and commitment of guiding us through life. Among those men that deserve recognition and honor are those who have led us to Jesus Christ and play an active and integral role in our development as a Christian; they are fathers in the faith or spiritual fathers.

The title spiritual father is not recorded in the Bible, but its implications are. Peter referred to Mark as my son (1 Peter 5:13). Apostle Paul referred to Timothy as a true son in the faith (1 Timothy 1:2), as well as Onesimus (Philemon 1:10). Elsewhere when writing to some of the churches, Paul even references church members as his children (1 John 2:1, 12-13). One of my favorite passages that paints a very beautiful picture of the ministry of spiritual fatherhood is 1 Corinthians 4:14-15. Apostle Paul is writing to the church at Corinth and clearly identifies himself as their father in the Gospel. Paul poured himself out for the Corinthians, physically, spiritually and financially. He viewed himself as their spiritual father and felt responsible for their spiritual well-being.

Like Apostle Paul, Pastor Rogers is undoubtedly among the most committed and loving spiritual fathers in the Kingdom. Our man of God is the real deal of pastors. No strings attached, no ulterior motives and no hidden agendas, his intentions are simple: help us to live the abundant life of Christ on earth, please God, fulfill our assignment, and then go to Heaven. Period. End of story. There is a unique and special bond that he shares with those of us that have been entrusted by God to his care. He corrects with fervency, and he loves hard because he sees himself as our spiritual father.

With every victory we win, he rejoices with authentic enthusiasm as though it were his, because he sees himself as our spiritual father. Every interaction, every sermon preached, and every counseling session is done from the depth and compassion of his heart. He is never indifferent towards us but is always sensitive to us as a father. The love that Pastor Rogers has for us is a strong, deep, and so far-reaching, unselfish love that cares and disciplines. And that is precisely how a father should be.

On this Father’s Day, let us reflect, recognize and honor our spiritual father, Pastor Gabriel Rogers, for his selfless commitment in caring for our souls.

Embracing God as our Father

As Christians, we have been given the awesome privilege of becoming God’s children. 1 John 3:1 says, “See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are!” God has chosen to adopt us into His family, making us joint heirs with Jesus Christ! All believers have the opportunity to enjoy the endless benefits of being a child of God, but we must learn to embrace both sides of God’s Fatherly love.

According to 1 John 4:16 NLT, “We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in His love.” God’s Word is filled with verses that describe His never-ending love for us, His people. Our Heavenly Father desires us to know and believe the love that He has for us. He wants us to embrace the truth that He is Abba Father and we have been commanded to come boldly before His throne of grace. Because of God’s Fatherly love, we have the right to walk in this world victoriously and confidently. As His children, we are designed to experience the abundant life - a life of purpose, prosperity, and progress. God is with us and as long as we are with Him, we will live a life marked by His goodness.

The key to being with God is to trust and obey. In those moments where we miss it, we are to rely on the discipline of our Heavenly Father to realign us with His will. That is a crucial catch in embracing God as Father. Pastor Rogers made a powerful statement in the 2019 sermon “Two Sides of Love”. He revealed to the congregation that “the love of God is not void of chastening.” In fact, God’s correction and discipline displays His constant awareness of us and our doings. He is always] watching us to ensure that we stay on the path that will lead to everlasting life.] What an honor it is to be disciplined by the Father of our Spirits so that we can live!

Having God as Father is a privilege that every child of God should understand and embrace. He desires for His children to be the best, have the best, and experience His absolute best in this life and in eternity. To do that, we must make a quality decision to remain steadfast in His will. In those moments where we slip, we must fully embrace correction and be trained by His discipline. “For the Lord disciplines and corrects those whom He loves, and He punishes every son whom He receives and welcomes [to His heart].” (Hebrews 12:6)

MINISTERS IN TRAINING CLASS OF 2024

The church’s Ministers In Training graduation ceremony held in the Kingdom Christian Church sanctuary marked a significant milestone, as it was the first graduation ceremony to be held at our ministry Family and friends were alongside members of the congregation to show support in this momentous occasion. The Salutatorian, Diona Austin, embodying the culmination of academic and spiritual growth, delivered a stirring address that stirred the hearts of all present, inspiring them to embrace their calling with unwavering faith. The heartfelt speech from Valedictorian Kera “Nikki” Webb followed suit, expressing profound appreciation for the support and camaraderie experienced throughout the journey and embracing her growth in confidence. As the ceremony drew to a close, the graduates stood united, their spirits uplifted by the love and encouragement from Pastor Rogers, ready to embark on their sacred mission with humility and resolve.

Fathers

The culture places little to no value on the role of fathers, however, fathers have a significant and unique impact in the lives of their children. Their influence is such an important and integral part of God's creation that God designed a pattern by which fathers should operate. In this book, Dr. Rogers identifies three distinct and pivotal roles of a father to the development of a child's overall well-being. Men and women alike should read this book as a tool for purpose and development and to gain a greater understanding of the character and nature of a father.
