Hearing God

This year has been nothing short of amazing! It is my prayer that you have seen great success and manifestations of faith as the year has progressed and is progressing! I pray that you have been Rich Towards God, remaining “only strong” and walking in victory in every area of your life.

In this day, it is imperative that you can clearly hear and distinguish the voice of God. Hearing correctly is essential to living and walking in victory in every area of your life. We are in a time of great deception. This culture, if you are not careful and alert, can distract and discourage the Believer with all types of news and disparity. As Believers, it is our job to remain fortified against the noise and distractions that are amplified in this culture. Hearing correctly and having the ability to distinguish, on any given day if a voice is God, you, or the devil, is vital in making wise decisions. Being sensitive to the Spirit of God has a lot to do with being able to distinguish how to break down information. Your ability to distinguish good from evil also enables you to refrain from being discouraged. Having the capability to distinguish the difference in those voices comes from cultivating your relationship with God and maturing spiritually. It is through constant use and cultivation of the spiritual gifts that one is empowered and equipped to distinguish and hear God correctly (Hebrews 5:13-14 & 1 Corinthians 14:1).

Hearing God correctly requires one to become more spiritual and put away things of carnality. One way in which this is accomplished is through prayer and fasting. As you peel back the flesh, your ability to hear God clearly will grow and develop even more. God speaks in a variety of ways to include His Word, your inward man (Colossians 3:15), godly counsel (Proverbs 12:15), and dreams & visions (Job 33:14-18). God is a talking God and it is imperative that as believers we are attuned and sensitive to His voice.

I encourage you to earnestly desire and cultivate the spiritual gifts and your relationship with God in this season (1 Corinthians 14:1 AMP). Remember, you have a promise to hear from God according to John 5:20. The Father loves you and shows you what He does!

A PLACE CALLED HEAVEN

First Lady Rogers

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

Heaven is a real, literal place. It is not a fantasyland or imaginary place, wishful thinking or a means by which to escape the woes of this world. Heaven is a real place where God lives and the place where those of us who believe in and love the Lord will one day live eternally. We don’t hear a lot about Heaven today because many are not Heavenly minded and are preoccupied with living only for today. They have grown so accustomed to this world and the pursuit of things in this world, that their hearts have started to drift from that which matters most. We most certainly can and should enjoy the life that God has blessed us to live on the earth (1 Timothy 6:17), but we must do so while making sure that our affections are not limited to the here and now.

While we are enjoying life and doing well, we absolutely must guard our affections so that we do not become too comfortable in this world. We should adapt the same mindset of Evangelist Billy Graham who once said, “My home is in Heaven. I’m just traveling through this world.” Our true home is not on this earth (Philippians 3:20). It has been prepared by Jesus in Heaven for us. There is so much that awaits us in Heaven and our very best days here will never compare to our eternal home. As you live out the rest of your life on this earth, fulfilling your assignment and enjoying the blessings that accompany, carry with you a longing to see and be with our Lord in Heaven. We’re almost home!

Congratulations!

A Heart for Evangelism

We, as Believers, are called to “go therefore and make disciples of all the nations” but, there seems to be a lack of fervency in this area of Christianity. Being an ambassador for Christ was never meant to be a hard task Our Pastor, Dr Gabriel Rogers, said it so well, “evangelism is not an obligation only; it is an opportunity.” Once we receive the truth of that statement, we must selfevaluate and identify the adjustments we need to make in order to develop a heart for evangelism.

Firstly, it is imperative to understand that we cannot share the love of God with others without first receiving His love for ourselves When we are “filled to the brim” with an abundance of God’s love, we can allow the excess to spill over onto the hungry and hurting people in our sphere of influence.

1 Corinthians 13:1 AMP tells us that we should have a love for others growing out of God’s love for us. When we renew our minds to the truth that God wants His love to constantly flow through us to this lost and dying world, our hearts will become more open to the agenda of Jesus Christ.

The second thing we can do to refuel our passion for evangelism is recognize our Heavenly Father’s desire to take care of His children. Oftentimes we become so bogged down with the cares of this world, that our desire for the things of God becomes muted. Thankfully, Jesus gives us the remedy for this in Luke 12:31-32 TLB. “He

will always give you all you need from day to day if you will make the Kingdom of God your primary concern. So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.” We do not have to carry our lives any longer. We can confidently cast our cares on the Lord and shift our focus to His Kingdom agenda because we know He cares for us.

Finally, we can reflect on how the power of God called us out of darkness and brought us into His marvelous light. When we take the time to think about the goodness of God in our own lives, our hearts should catch on fire, and we should earnestly desire to see that same power flow through us

and rescue others from their dark places. Remember, “the Lord is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). While this list is not exhaustive, it does highlight a few of the points that our Pastor not only teaches but also lives daily.

It is true that we are commanded to go and make disciples but let us adjust the settings on our hearts to see the beauty in fervently pursuing the will of God. Once we do this, evangelism will no longer be an obligation. It will become an opportunity.
