Move as Directed By God
Matthew 26:19-21
So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.
Matthew 21:6
“So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them.”
God bless you partners and friends! God has been so good to bring us to this moment in time by which we are able to say that we are in the land of the living and blessed. I am so happy to have you as members and partners of KCC. Our path is getting brighter and brighter by the moment, and we praise God for this. The church is growing by leaps and bounds and the people who are really tapped in are going to new levels in God. It has quickened in me lately to remind you as believers to allow God the Father, the Holy Spirit and Jesus to “direct you in life.” So many Christians are making huge mistakes because they are on a “self-guided tour” in their lives, and they are not being led by God. There is such a thing as you not making “huge errors in life”. In our theme verses, Matthew 26:18 as well as Matthew 21:6, the disciples allowed Jesus to order their steps even though the path seemed to be a little vague. As is expected in both scenarios when they followed Jesus, everything worked in their favor. If you and I knew that outcomes would be in our favor if we follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit, wouldn’t it make sense to do so? Of course, the answer is “yes”. So why is it so difficult for so many Christians to be led by God? Because there are so many things in this world that compete with the will and plan of God for our lives. For example, “people who carry spirits are always seeking to get you off track.” Hear what God has to say about people and crowds that are sent to mislead you:
Exodus 23:2
New King James Version
“You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice.”
There are crowds of people that will always seek to get you off of God’s preordained path. These crowds can be family members, co-workers and “public opinion on matters.” When people are pulling you out of the will of God, “don’t follow them.” As a Pastor, I’ve seen so many people do well for a season and then they begin to listen to the wrong person or persons and it totally throws them off track. They usually end up backsliding and their lives spiral downward. Christians also get off track by listening to their “own opinions about their path in life.” Hear what the Proverb writer had to say about this:
Proverbs 18:1-2
New King James Version
A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment. A fool has no delight in understanding, but in expressing his own heart.
I love Proverbs 18:1-2 because it is spot on as it relates to people cutting off all “wise counsel” and listening to their own rhetoric. Hear me good people of God, “once you start listening only to yourself, you are headed for a great fall.” Also allow trusted believers that your Pastor assigned to help you and never cut off the leading of the Holy Spirit. It is the role of the Holy Spirit to lead us into “all truths” (John 16:13). Don’t despise the leading of the Holy Spirit because He is there to help you make it in this wicked world. Remember the disciples in both of our theme
verses moved as “Jesus directed”. Will you do the same? Know that Pastor Rogers is praying for you and we love you and only want the best for you in your life!
