Abba Father!

Romans 8:15 (NLT)

So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”

For many years I did not relate to God as my Heavenly Father. I lived in a Christian home and was raised in church for all my youth and young adult life, but my perspective of God was inaccurate. I loved God and desired a relationship with Him but drawing close to Him seemed more like maneuvering through a maze. I soon learned a personal relationship with God as “Father” is not something that only Pastors and great Kingdom leaders can attain, but that God wants to know each of His children personally, and that includes you. He wants us to relate to Him as “Father” and enjoy a relationship with Him that is meaningful and close and based on fellowship, trust, and love. God is a personal God. Contrary to how you feel, He is not far away from you and is very much interested in every single detail of your life, big and small.

Prayer of Salvation

He is with you all the time and desires to talk with you about everything. God invites you to spend time with Him through prayer and reading His Word. This is the most important way to know Him as Abba. He wants you to know that you can talk to Him about anything at any time and not only when you are in a crisis and need help. He wants you to know that you can trust Him with your whole heart and be confident that He will never let you down, for it’s impossible to have a personal relationship with someone you do not trust. As you draw closer to God, He will reveal more of Himself to you and teach you more about who He is.
