A A Time Time for for Revival Revival
by Gabrielle Ellis
What started as a normal weekday service on February 8th, 2023 led to the start of a revival that would last more than 2 weeks and bring more than fifty thousand people together. Asbury University is a private Christian liberal arts university known for having revivals as early as 1905. Some are recorded to have lasted for two weeks with as many as 50,000 in attendance.

The topic of the sermon that would bring so many people to worship? God’s love. The message of God’s love pricked the hearts of students and led hundreds to repentance. A service beginning with less than 20 college students, sparked the start of thousands coming together every day in authentic praise and worship. Praying, singing, preaching, testimonies, praise, and worship filled every moment of every hour for almost 400 consecutive hours.
Gen Z (youth ages 11-26), is said to be the least religious generation with one third of the population identifying as “religiously unaffiliated”. Yet this is where the move of God began. With videos on social media being shared more than 63 million times, the word spread and people traveled to Asbury University from around the world. There were many stories of people being healed, financially blessed, and spiritually and emotionally transformed. Most importantly, many people were saved and rededicated their lives to God.
People are hungry for God. Some try to fill the void with different vices and false truths not knowing that God is the only answer. As believers we must always be a light and a living witness of God’s love. The news of the love of God brought revival to Asbury. By definition, revival is to revive, restore, and improve. That's what God’s love does! We have to stay committed to sharing this good news. The time for revival is always now. We do not have to have thousands gathered to bring revival. We bring revival through the Great Commission, our prayers, evangelism, and sharing the love of God.
