Rich Towards God

favor, health, and joy!

In this edition, I want to remind and encourage you to be “Rich Towards God”. Being “Rich Towards God” is evident by your enthusiasm and consistency to be about the things of God. Rich Towards God is having right and strong affections towards God from the inside out, in heart and in deed. As we enter the second quarter of 2023, I urge you to look at the first quarter of the year. I compel you to evaluate the driving force for yourself, your passions, and your daily living. Were you driven by the things of this world, driven by prestige, driven by building bigger houses and obtaining more things? I encourage you to consider if you have left the main thing. Matthew 6:33 instructs us as believers to “seek first the Kingdom of God”.

As you have reflected upon this last quarter, if you have found some areas of your life that have not been consistent with being “Rich Towards God”, I encourage you to acknowledge it and make the necessary adjustments and realignments. Colossians 3:23 tell us, “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,”. Whatever your hands find to do, ensure that you do it with all your might. As you realign or continue to be “Rich Towards God” and seek first the Kingdom of God, everything else you want will be added unto you (Matthew 6:33). Another incentive to seek the Kingdom of God first, is no good thing being withheld from you, with the contingency of you walking uprightly before God (Psalm 84:11). As you put God first and give God the glory with a pure heart, you are going to glorify Him, but He will bless you.

Friends, I am excited for what is in store for you as you pursue being “Rich Towards God”! I pray that as you are “Rich Towards God” and put Him first in your worldview, family, finances, and in your personal health, that you will be completely satisfied.

With Love,

The drywall is in place and has been sanded down. Beautiful boarded back style siding is also being installed. We are working on the landscaping plans along with the layout of the driveways and sidewalks. We are making great strides to the finish line!

follow Him. These men left their family, livelihood, community, and all that they knew, to follow Jesus. One word describes this level of devotion, and it is passion.

They, like many others, pursued God relentlessly. A relentless pursuit is going after God with everything we have, where we hold nothing back in our pursuit of Him. It means wholehearted devotion. This is not a nonchalant, indifferent, and relaxed approach; the call is to follow hard and to be fully invested in our relationship with God. I encourage you to take a moment to assess whether you are walking closely with the Lord. The rewards of a meaningful relationship with Him are worth the wait and effort!

Should a Christian Drink?

What does the Bible really say about Christians and alcohol? Is it okay for Believers to drink? Our Pastor, Dr. Gabriel Rogers, recently taught on this very subject during one of our 7am Kingdom University classes.

What does the culture say? Oftentimes we hear people refer to themselves as “social drinkers” but Proverbs 20:1-3 teaches us that “wine is a mocker, strong drink is a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise”. The key phrase here is led astray. The enemy does nothing overnight. He is cunning. One tragedy has the potential to turn any “social drinker” into a full blown alcoholic. That is why the Bible admonishes us to be sober and vigilant. Our adversary, the devil, is still walking about like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8).

How do we reconcile the Apostle Paul giving Timothy permission to drink wine? In 1 Timothy 5:23, the Apostle Paul instructed Timothy to “use a little wine” for his stomach’s sake. In those days, there was no water purification system and the bacteria was upsetting Timothy’s stomach. Not only is the wine today far more potent, it is also not consumed for the purpose of killing bacteria. We must ask ourselves, what is it really for?

At the end of the lesson, Pastor Gabe provided three Biblical reasons why Christians should not drink. Firstly, it appeases the flesh. According to Romans 13:11-14, we are not to make any provision for the flesh because our salvation is nearer than ever. Secondly, we become a stumbling block for others. We never know who is watching us and how our decisions affect others. 1 Corinthians 8:9 warns us to be careful so that our liberty to choose does not somehow lead others into sin. Finally, the Rapture is going to happen. This is the most important reason to give no opportunity to the flesh. Jesus is coming back any moment now and we must remain watchful and prayerful that we are counted worthy to escape (Luke 21:36).

Tips for Organization and Time Management

Are you still on track with the goals you set at the beginning of the new year? Do you have ongoing home or work projects that seem to be unending? Managing your time effectively and being productive will ensure that you meet your goals and complete those tasks that seem impossible.

Have a clear understanding of the task or goal you want to accomplish. Plan out your day at least one day in advance. Establish a daily regimen for routine tasks.

Tackle the most difficult task first.

Distinguish between urgent, important, and not important. Find tools that fit your style such as using to-do lists, Google/Outlook Calendar, Iphone calendar/reminders, etc. to assist you with managing your time.

Strive to be proactive instead of being reactive with organizing your time and accomplishing your goals.

Focus on what is most important and learn to say no to things that are unimportant. Allow time for the unexpected.

Declutter daily and relocate items back to their place.

A A Time Time for for Revival Revival

What started as a normal weekday service on February 8th, 2023 led to the start of a revival that would last more than 2 weeks and bring more than fifty thousand people together. Asbury University is a private Christian liberal arts university known for having revivals as early as 1905. Some are recorded to have lasted for two weeks with as many as 50,000 in attendance.

The topic of the sermon that would bring so many people to worship? God’s love. The message of God’s love pricked the hearts of students and led hundreds to repentance. A service beginning with less than 20 college students, sparked the start of thousands coming together every day in authentic praise and worship. Praying, singing, preaching, testimonies, praise, and worship filled every moment of every hour for almost 400 consecutive hours.

Gen Z (youth ages 11-26), is said to be the least religious generation with one third of the population identifying as “religiously unaffiliated”. Yet this is where the move of God began. With videos on social media being shared more than 63 million times, the word spread and people traveled to Asbury University from around the world. There were many stories of people being healed, financially blessed, and spiritually and emotionally transformed. Most importantly, many people were saved and rededicated their lives to God.

People are hungry for God. Some try to fill the void with different vices and false truths not knowing that God is the only answer. As believers we must always be a light and a living witness of God’s love. The news of the love of God brought revival to Asbury. By definition, revival is to revive, restore, and improve. That's what God’s love does! We have to stay committed to sharing this good news. The time for revival is always now. We do not have to have thousands gathered to bring revival. We bring revival through the Great Commission, our prayers, evangelism, and sharing the love of God.
