LETTER FROM THE Welcome to the Miss Southlake Organization I am a beneficiary of the outstanding legacy of the Miss Texas and Miss America Organizations. As a local titleholder, I competed four times with four different organizations before I was selected to serve as Miss Texas 2012. Each of my local directors and boards gave countless time, energy, talents, and resources to help shape me into who I am today. Although several years have passed since I served as Miss Texas, my heart has never left this organization. The life skills that you learn through competing and serving as a titleholder aid you in every area of your life. That is ultimately why I decided to come back as a local director. I am DaNae Opening Message excited to hit the ground running with innovative ideas to enrich the legacy of this program.

A major component of Miss Texas and Miss America is the competition. I have spent a majority of my life in different types of competitions. I began my competitive years in twirling, transitioned to the Miss America local, state, and national stage, and now compete in the courtroom. I know about the persistence and drive that it takes to train like a champion. We have assembled an exciting team of talented people who also know what it takes to reach the next level.

Prepare Great Women for the World As the largest scholarship provider for women, Miss America funds the academic dreams of its participants. Thanks in part to my scholarships from local competitions, Miss Texas, and Miss America, I graduated debt-free. As Malala Yousafzai said, “One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.” We are striving to increase the amount of scholarship assistance we can provide to our representatives and all of our candidates.

Prepare the World for Great Women Women’s voices are being heard like never before. We want to build on that movement by developing our representative’s advocacy skills and providing opportunities for her to advocate for her causes. By partnering with the Southlake local government and other local organizations, we can show our community the power of our program and our women. MISTRESS OF CEREMONIES SHANNON SANDERFORD

FEATURED PERFORMERS

This passionate young woman secured the title of Miss Texas 2015. While competing for Miss Texas, Shannon won overall interview two of her three years. During her year of service, Shannon completed 470 appearances and spoke before more than 100,000 people, advocating for her social impact initiative, “She Matters: Gender Equality and Female Empowerment.” Shannon placed in the Top 10 at the 2016 Miss America Competition in Atlantic City, NJ. Shannon graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Journalism and English Writing. With her scholarships from Miss America, Miss Texas, and Dallas Baptist University, she financed two Masters Degrees—a Masters of Arts in Communications and a Masters of Business Administration. Shannon is the Director of Marketing for The Jim Ross Law Group as well as Principle Attorney Jim Ross’ Upscale Dining Restaurant, The Mercury Chophouse.

PANEL OF DISTING ELLE OBERDICK Elle Oberdick is Vice President for Wells Fargoâ€™s Private Bank and serves ultra-high net-worth families in DFW. She holds two degrees, a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Management with a minor in Dance Arts from Grand Valley State University. Elle started dancing at the age of two, dancing competitively and going on to dance professionally as an NFL Cheerleader for the Arizona Cardinals. She competed in scholarship programs within the Miss America organization in her hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Elle has made a lifelong commitment to serving the community. She dedicates her time advocating for children in foster care through her position on the Board of Directors of CASA of Tarrant County and supports her passion for the arts by serving on the Board of Trustees for the Dallas Theater Center. She resides in Southlake, Texas and is married to the love of her life Jon. They have a son and daughter.

CRAIG CLOVIS Craig Clovis is a graduate of Oklahoma State University and owner of a multi-line fashion, wholesale showroom in the Dallas World Trade Center, focusing on better ladies accessories and jewelry selling to specialty stores and high end department stores. He also launched a multi-million dollar jewelry business under the label Elle Magazine in two years and won the coveted Dallas Fashion Award in 2004. Craig has built a name for himself in both the fashion retail and wholesale arena and is known nationwide for his ability to spot trends. He currently resides in Dallas with his 10 year old Shechon, Betty Jane.

CINDY MARSHALL A native Texan, Cindy Marshall was born in Fort Worth and raised in Arlington. Marshall attended the University of Texas at Arlington and earned a degree in Physical Education. Throughout her career, Marshall was a small-business owner, operating her very own catering company in Arlington. She is now retired. For eight years, Marshall served on the Board of Regents at The Oakridge School in Arlington. Outside of her work, Cindy Marshall enjoys spending time with her husband of 40 years, Chuck, and her daughter. In her spare time, Marshall loves to exercise, read, and travel!

GUISHED JUDGES MICHELLE HAYE As second runner-up to Miss Texas 2013 and a Quality of Life finalist, Michelle won over $25,000 in scholarships. She was a semifinalist at the 2013 National Sweetheart Pageant. With an extensive background in pageantry, classical dance history, and operatic vocal training, she brings a wealth of knowledge to the judging panel. Michelle has worked for some of the most well-known nonprofits in the nation including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and United Way, where she leads fundraising, development, marketing, and public relations strategy. Focused on private capital development, Michelle coordinates Investor Relations for a nationwide real estate developer and builder. A contributing writer for The Huffington Post and advocate for traumainformed youth grief support, Michelle and her husband Grayson call the DFW metroplex home.

DR. ED JOHNSON Dr. Ed Johnson is a retired anesthesiologist in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was the director of the Miss Shreveport Competition for twenty years finishing with four winners, eight first-runners up, as well as eight preliminary state swimsuit winners, and eight talent winners. He is a diamond patron of the Miss Louisiana Competition and has attended the Miss America Competition in both Atlantic City, New Jersey and Las Vegas, Nevada. He has judged over fifty local Miss America Preliminary Competitions in Louisiana and Arkansas.

RANDI SUNDQUIST Randi Sundquist is a native Nevadan who graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies. Currently, Randi is a licensed real estate agent in Dallas and is in her second season as the Head Coach of the SMU dance team. Previously, she worked as a Business Development Specialist for Rebel Athletic, helping lead its Rebel Against Bullying campaign. Randi also served as the Associate Director of the High School Ministry at Central Christian Church where she restructured and rebuilt the student ministry. Randi won Miss Nevada 2012 and spent the year traveling the state to promote her social impact initiative, “Preventing Youth Violence and Bullying.” She was the spokesperson for “Flip the Script,” a statewide anti-bullying campaign launched by R & R Partners.
