Miss Make is a creative studio by Devon Iott that produces unique and approachable quilt patterns. One of the most important things Miss Make embodies is that creative exploration through quilting doesn’t have to be complicated. Miss Make patterns emphasize clear, streamlined instructions, thorough explanations, and a basic entry threshold for tools and supplies - while extra gadgets are sometimes helpful, they are never necessary.

Dioptra is comprised of a network of stars, their connections weaving together through their points, plotting a path across the sky. The pattern is named after the dioptra, an ancient Greek surveying device that allowed users to make large, complex measurements - say, determining the distance between Rome and Alexandria - based on the positions of the stars. Dioptra’s stars include some unique angles, achieved through either foundation paper piecing or standard piecing with a bit of trimming - the pattern includes both methods.
The unique combination of angles in this quilt creates the feeling of energy radiating out from the center. The design might look complex, but it is easily broken down into four repeated blocks. (SHOWN: Throw Size)
